Schumer, Manchin announce deal on reconciliation
bill with tax, climate, energy provisions

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., on Wednesday announced that they have struck a long-awaited deal on legislation that aims to reform the tax code, fight climate change and cut health-care costs. The reconciliation bill would invest more than $400 billion over 10 years, to be fully paid for by closing tax loopholes on the richest Americans and corporations, the senators said in a joint statement. It would reduce deficits by $300 billion over that decade, the senators said, citing estimates from nonpartisan congressional tax and budget offices.

So is the non-partisan part of nonpartisan congressional tax and budget offices. What’s next, Manchin? A vote to end the filibuster? Manchin is a two faced d’rat.

The weasel words here are "invest" and "cut costs" which they have no intention of doing in the natural way. Also, the hated "richest Americans" and "corporations" are the usual villains who must be robbed to make the poor and the downtrodden feel better. "Nonpartisan congressional tax and budget offices" do not exist. Bottom line, they are spending more money and lying through their teeth about it. Manchin does it again as we knew he would.

Why don’t Americans trust the government and other institutions? Maybe it’s because the government and other institutions aren’t trustworthy.  There’s certainly plenty of evidence for both the lack of trust and the lack of trustworthiness. And if the trend continues, it bodes poorly for America. The news is bad on the lack of trust. A recent University of Chicago Institute of Politics poll found that a majority of Americans think that the government is “corrupt and rigged against people like me.” Two-thirds of Republicans and independents felt that way, but things weren’t much better among liberals, 51% of whom agreed. So this isn’t the usual sour grapes from the party out of power — it’s a general sentiment.

The Republican Party seems to be learning the lesson that Donald Trump began teaching during his time in office. That lesson is simple: Don’t play by the media’s rules and don’t try to win their approval.
