I was wrong about Trump

Original Article

Posted By: pros7767, 7/27/2022 9:43:18 AM

I recently wrote a column about why I believed Trump should not run in 2024. I was wrong. I allowed my distaste for Trump’s personality to override his virtues, which are considerable. Some people want Trump without his vices. I was among them -- until yesterday, when I watched and listened to Tom Klingenstein’s speech titled “Trump’s virtues.” It was masterful and shamed me that I did not make the distinction between Trump's character and his virtues, the former being deeply flawed, the latter being almost perfect. I need to man up in my defense of the former President's virtues.

Comments:

A great analysis of the importance of President Trump in this time for our country.

When asked to describe her father, Ivanka said “he is blunt”. Blunt is defined as “uncompromisingly forthright”. That is not a failure of character. We are plagued with far too many among the voters and our politicians who prefer appearing to be “nice” to being straightforward. To calling persons and situations as they see them. Those who fussed and clucked about his tweets apparently missed the fact that the media. the Dems, and the Uniparty Republicans turned his words against him when he was quoted. So he decided that putting out his own “news” in his own voice, his own words. was the only way he could get his messages out without distortion. How quickly we forget. As for this guy, he woke up and realized what a good life he’d had with Trump and how awful it had become when Biden took over. His epiphany and that of the person who “inspired” his change of heart occurred because they realized how petty they had been. What they had lost. President Trump’s “character being deeply flawed”? How so? That’s a heavy accusation. Explan what you mean. I could not be bohered reading this twit.

I often ask my leftist democrat Biden voting relatives what was their main issue with PDJT. They say the usual dimwit CNN talking points but what they say right off grip is that he's harsh, blunt or abrasive. To that I say he was the President of the United States who during his time in office put AMERICANS first. Not illegal alien criminals, not rogue nations bent on doing us harm, not taxpayer money slobbering political hack democrats and RINOs but us. He's not your friend and if you want that buy a dog or in a leftist's case a gerbil. The author of this piece found that out. Too bad a vast majority of people still don't get it.

My formerly hardcore Dem granddaughter cut me off a few years ago because I had her on my mailing list for conservative articles. Then one day in 2016 I got an email from her, telling me that she was all in for Trump and that her town in the Central Valley (CA) was loaded with Trump signs. She then kept telling ME how great Trump was!

Those TaliBiden and Never Trump people are the same ones who had no issue at all with Bill Clinton’s character. In fact, they flatly stated that character didn’t matter in a president. I’m perfectly fine with Trump’s character. He’s a fighter who doesn’t pull his punches and that’s what we need in a president.

I have been saying similar things for years, with one significant exception, there is nothing wrong with Trump's character. The only people he attacks are people who attack him. Then he attacks to win. He went after the media, labeling them "Fake news". Almost 90% of those now polled think the media is NOT credible. That's an astonishing correlation to Trump's accusation. Yet, at the time, with media smearing him nightly, many thought Trump was "mean" to unreservedly go after media. Note, he did not try to do anything politically against them or sic the FBI on them, he accurately labeled them and let them spin themselves into near oblivion. Harsh, perhaps. Deserved, absolutely. You can't defend yourself OR THE COUNTRY from rabid dog progressives by being polite about it. Further, I doubt there has ever been a president that has been all sweetness and light. You can't be a Pollyanna and run this country, especially in the heated political times of today. The complainers that went after Trump did so because they couldn't assault his obviously successful policies so they fell back on their preferred method of attack, character assassination. It is to many people's disgrace that they fell for the garbage.

When people say "I like Trump but do not like all the mean tweets", I often reply "but he says things that we think but don't say" and he stands up for us. In the TV series "The Americans" about foreign spies living in plain sight and often next door, one of the spies made the observation that "The Americans are weak". Donald Trump is not weak and that is why he has a huge base. And, that is why the swamp hates him -- because he is relentless in fighting for his people and for America.

Trump doesn’t offend them, it is the truth that triggers them! No one has ever spoken to democrats, Rinos, and the dishonest media like PDT does and they deserve every mean tweet and off the cuff comment. The whole "mean tweet" meme as a Trump virtue is nonsensical. I detest Twitter and the idea of governing via tweets, even polite tweets with sugar on top. I voted for Trump twice in spite of his fascination with Twitter and many here who also aren't Twitter mavens and apologists have indicated that they would vote for him again, should he be the GOP nominee in 2024. Whatever causes a certain segment of our population to hate Trump should not have gasoline poured on it. However entertaining some may find that, if it contributed to installing Biden then it should be avoided if there is a round 3.

The accumulation of excessive power has made the federal government a self-serving and self-preserving entity unaccountable to the American people and operating outside of constitutional constraints. Biden is clearly a suicide bomber, owned by the Chinese Communist Party and the Mexican Drug Cartel, and put in place to destroy America, American exceptionalism, capitalism, and most importantly, the great American middle class. The impact of a stressed economy, rising fuel prices, supply chain struggles, and the strain on America’s farms is beginning to have a direct effect on the food supply in the country, not just for humans but for the animals we love as well. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have experienced cycles of supply shortages. Those earlier items that impacted consumers were toilet paper, Clorox cleaning supplies, and 91% rubbing alcohol. But, as the ripple effect of a once shuttered economy continues to make waves, the food supply for all living creatures is at risk of a coming Tsunami.

The case for mandates was shaky from the get-go. Forcing one and all to douse themselves with rushed-out vaccines with universally acknowledged higher-than-usual side effect rates was always a questionable choice. The failure to account for natural immunity — providing significantly better protection than vaccines against earlier Covid variants and taken into account in comparable mandates throughout the E.U., in the U.K. and in Israel — was a glaring instance of authoritarian partisan politicians running out ahead of the science in their eagerness to find comfort in demonizing the unvaccinated for a virus that has spread easily in both low-vaccine nations and highly vaccinated nations such as Israel and Germany.

Is America officially a nation of sheep? No, but a recent YouGov poll does prove that about half of us are. It showed that Democrats are both more fearful than the rest of us of COVID and more authoritarian when it comes to mandating vaccines for those who have chosen not to submit to the jab, the “Fauci-ouchy” as Michael Knowles calls it. So, one can conclude that democrats are indeed more sheeplike. The Democrat party was not always scaredy-cats, motivated by fear and a will toward authoritarianism.

The Supreme Court ruled President Joe Biden can't wipe away or reduce student loans held by millions of Americans. In a 6-3 decision, the high court's conservative justices agreed with the suing states that the HEROES Act does not authorize Biden's debt forgiveness plan. At issue was whether the administration had authority to broadly cancel federal student loans because of the COVID-19 emergency. Loan payments that have been on hold since the start of the coronavirus pandemic three years ago are supposed to resume no later than this summer. Without the loan relief promised by the Biden plan, the administration’s top Supreme Court lawyer said, “delinquencies and defaults will surge.”
