I was wrong about Trump

Original Article

Posted By: clayusmcret, 7/27/2022 8:11:00 PM

I recently wrote a column about why I believed Trump should not run in 2024. I was wrong. I allowed my distaste for Trump’s personality to override his virtues, which are considerable. Some people want Trump without his vices. I was among them -- until yesterday, when I watched and listened to Tom Klingenstein’s speech titled “Trump’s virtues.” It was masterful and shamed me that I did not make the distinction between Trump's character and his virtues, the former being deeply flawed, the latter being almost perfect. I need to man up in my defense of the former President's virtues.

Comments:

We have to fight and no one who wins a fight leaves it with clean hands (good point from the article).

I think he should stop the ad hominum attacks (head shaped like a watermelon??), name calling and the vulgar profanity; none of which add anything positive to the political discourse. The latter two are the lowest form of disagreement and add to the coarsening of our already coarse culture. He can and should take the high road in his public speeches. It will encourage other public speakers and be an example for our kids to do the same.

#4, Trump says what we're thinking and he won't hesitate to attack those who hurl insults and slanders him and his family. Whereas Pres. G. Bush took it all in and received lots of flacks from the GOPs and conservatives for not hitting back. Trump is at his best when he's not reined in and allowed to fight for the people to MAGA!

Not sure what your problem with Trump was because everybody in politics have similar type A personalities. I had said right here on L.Com in 2016 that the first republican candidate who effectively neuters the msm during the 2016 campaign will be the next president of the United States. So a pop quiz, Mathews, Q - which republican candidate effectively neutered the msm during the 2016 campaign? A - Donald J. Trump.

Let’s see, off the top of my head: Trump withdrew the US from the TPP, calmed North Korea, put tariffs on Chinese goods even while establishing a good personal relationship with Xi and becoming popular with the Chinese people, began repatriating manufacturing to America, cut taxes, abandoned NAFTA and replaced it with the USMCA, secured our southern border and got Mexico to dedicate 20,000 troops to help secure it, strengthened NATO by getting EU countries to increase their contributions to NATO, refused to put American military in between Turkey and the Kurds and made them work out a buffer zone themselves, hammered out the Abraham Accords as a completely new framework for peace in the Middle East, established the policy that if you harm an American soldier we will hunt you and kill you, then backed it up by blowing up the Iranian general in charge of the Iraqi insurgency against Americans, confirmed THREE constitutionalist Supreme Court justices, what am I forgetting? And he did all that in just 4 years. I’d call that ahead of schedule and under budget. Imagine what he could get done with another 4 years. Trump 2024

Powerful words and undeniable truths in this article. Inexplicably, the Democrats and their leftist warriors want to force our great nation down on its knees, foment racial distrust and violence, and trash the sacrifices made by those who created America. And to those who have given everything to preserve our freedoms and defend us - it’s a slap in the face. Destroying Trump is their number one goal, and is consuming them. Because he was so strong as President, fearless and ‘got the job done’ - for all Americans - they will never forgive him. They’ve destroyed so much of what he accomplished.

Pravda Press – The difference between a New York Times reader and a Russian reading Pravda is that the Russian knows he is being lied to. Softball questions from the compliant media allowed Biden to read, without looking up, from pre-printed note cards. He chose reliable, liberal reporters (partisan activists) from a pre-selected list.     The worst question came from NPR’s pandering Yamiche Alcindor who attempted to explain away what is tracking to be the worst southern border migrant surge in 20 years because Biden is a moral and decent man.  Proving once again that the mainstream media is the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party.   CORRECTION*

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.   While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.

Arguably the biggest sensation to come out of the debacle of a town hall NBC had with President Trump was the so-called “nodding lady.” Positioned directly behind the President’s left shoulder for one of the most widely used camera angles, she was applauded by some and attacked by others for nodding her head and displaying thumbs up in agreement when the President answered many of the attack questions posed to him by Savannah Guthrie. But she wasn’t originally positioned there. Before the town hall began, a Caucasian lady was originally positioned there.

Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of goods and services produced across the economy, shrank by 0.9% on an annualized basis in the three-month period from April through June, the Commerce Department said in its first reading of
