Jonathan Jackson, son of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, on Friday afternoon announced a run for the seat being vacated by Rep. Bobby Rush, becoming at least the 13th candidate so far in the Democratic primary in the 1st Congressional District. Jackson launches his congressional bid with a running start provided by his father, a civil rights leader, two-time presidential candidate and founder of Rainbow PUSH Coalition. The younger Jackson is familiar with his father’s extensive national fundraising and political network.

I'm sitting here trying not to spill my coffee, as I read this article. I can't decide which is funnier - 1. The tortured shapes of those congressional districts, to serve up a black face in Congress 2. The chutzpah of the Jackson family. fromthe Rev to the brother and sister in law in prison 3. Wondering if this is a b*stard child of Jesse - the one whose mommy was Jesse's mistress 4. fascinated by the new candidate's business operation, which appears to exist as a set-aside minority contractor 5. Wondering if the Jackson sons still have the exclusive Budweiser franchise for Chicago 6. And best of all, remembering how the Rev, counseling Dollar Bill Clinton after the Monica thing, with Jackson's pregnant mistress in tow at the White House. Today will be a good day.

Illinois lost one Congressional Seat from the 2020 Census. After redrawing the maps: Republicans LOSE 2 seats and Democrats pick up 2 seats. The districts are so radically Gerrymandered, I've never seen anything like it. They create a R+46 and R+42 districts that span the state. They sponge up every Republican voter into three throw away districts so Democrats can win all the rest. A three judge panel let this stand. Impossible to know who those three judges were, in our current Democracy. How do we take back the house when they pick up seats through fraud? Who do you think appointed the bobble headed judges on this one? Who believes we can vote our way out of this mess? Democrats won't have it.

Although taken for granted by millions of Americans, the choice to obtain a college degree mystifies economists. Teenagers making the first significant financial decision of their lives are paraded through prospective student tours—essentially timeshare presentations for minors—and finally make an arbitrary pick where they will spend around a quarter-million dollars of borrowed or parental money. For some, the degree results in open doors and respectable careers. For others, it’s a scam that wastes their time and money. Across the nation, colleges are losing customers because young people are wising up to the risks of credentialism-based debt. These institutions are no longer able to tout learning as their main selling point;

For the first nine months of the COVID-19 pandemic, there were no officially approved outpatient treatments for combating the disease. The medical establishment expressed extreme caution regarding such treatments, and these warnings were amplified by major media hostile to President Trump, as when he touted the anti-malaria medicine hydroxychloroquine. Although an estimated 12 percent to 38 percent of prescriptions are written for FDA-approved drugs used “off-label” (including Botox and Viagra), Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, declared early on that providers should dispense only medicines proven to be safe and effective for COVID patients through “randomized, placebo-controlled trials.”

What do we mean by the Revolution? The war? That was no part of the revolution; it was only an effect and consequence of it. The revolution was in the minds of the people.” What did John Adams mean when he wrote this to Thomas Jefferson in 1815, after both had served as president? Adams was saying that America, the country that took up arms and fought for its independence from the British, was already a nation — before 1775. America preexisted the Constitution, Adams is saying. America had been conceived and born before he and Jefferson began to write its Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia in 1776.

Americans want an autonomous Ukraine to survive. They hope the West can stop Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strangulation of both Ukraine and NATO. Yet Americans do not want their troops to venture across the world to Europe’s backyard to fight nuclear Russia to ensure that Ukraine stays independent. Most Americans oppose the notion that Russia can simply dictate the future of Ukraine. Yet Americans also grudgingly accept that Ukraine was often historically part of Russia. During World War II, it was the bloody scene of joint Russian-Ukrainian sacrifices—more than 5 million killed—to defeat the Nazi German invasion.

It’s long been axiomatic in the legal profession that tough facts make bad law. Yesterday’s forked decisions from the Supreme Court in two vaccine mandate cases now add a corollary to that principle: Quick cases make milquetoast opinions. The Supreme Court heard the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Medicare/Medicaid mandate cases in tandem on an expedited basis last Friday. Although court observers expected lightning-fast decisions, the opinions in National Federation of Independent Business v. Department of Labor and Biden v. Missouri didn’t drop until Jan. 13.

Generally speaking, I am not a fan of polls. For one, I’ve never been polled by anyone. For another, the number of people being polled often strikes me as too small a sample from which to draw broad conclusions. Also, those samples more often than not tend to oversample one group, Democrats, let’s say, over another group, which again leads to questions of accuracy. Bottom line, I don’t trust ‘em and tend to ignore them in preference to the only poll that actually counts, the election itself. I’ve often asked myself, what would I do if I were to be contacted to participate in a poll.

Just as Sharon Osborne and Roseanne Barr got fired for offending racial shibboleths, Goldberg needs to go. Goldberg a staple on The View, a show in which several inane left-wing women loudly opine about the issues of the day, dismissed the Holocaust as a uniquely Jewish event and, essentially said that a lot of people died during World War II
