Arnold Schwarzenegger was involved in a car crash on Friday afternoon in Los Angeles that involved four vehicles and left his enormous black SUV perched on top of another car, leaving one other driver with a head injury. The former governor, 74, was driving his GMC Yukon SUV and was about to turn onto busy Sunset Boulevard, about half-a-mile from his home in the Brentwood, when he smashed into a red Toyota Prius at 4:35pm. The Prius was said to have been making a U-turn in the road when the collision occurred. The impact of the crash was so severe that the Prius' airbags deployed

Good photo op for superior SUV driver protection over an inferior EV. If I get involved in a car crash, I’d want to be in a tank. GMC should produce a line of SUVs named TERMINATOR.

I’m not a traffic cop just a guy with common sense, the pic shows the gigantic, enormous, almost battleship size SUV in the proper lane. And I also know if someone is going to get under my skin while driving, 98% of the time it’s someone in a Prius.

"Police told TMZ that Schwarzenegger was "making a left turn while the arrow for a left turn was still red".
He was not ticketed by police and uninjured in the crash. "
Usually, when I'm "making a left turn while the arrow for a left turn was still red",
I'm at rest.
So.. Was the domesticated, well trained, SUV stationary
when the vicious, little, ill-tempered, Prius missed the turn?
See? Anybody can play this stupid game...

Yes, it's a large vehicle. A monster SUV? I think not. It's not jacked up with huge tires, but I guess to the British, anything larger than Mini is huge. I feel for the owner of the Porsche, but how close were they following Schwarzengger to be almost under his back bumper? As for the Prius. No great loss.

So, take another look at these pictures...
Smallest GMC Yukan has a Base Curb Weight of 5633 lbs.
https://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gmc/vehicles/yukon_yukon_xl/2021.tab1.html
A Prius making a right hand turn,
a low speed maneuver,
arrives in the wrong lane with enough velocity
to drive under the Yukan to the front wheel well,
and drive the SUV backwards
"normal following distance"
into the front of the vehicle behind.
What question does that bring to mind?
Was it attempted murder?

Why bother to put air bags I a Prius? If the car is hit but a small bird the bags would go off and the car would be totaled.

It looks like the Prius drove right under the Yukon, which would be very strange, but I suppose Arnold could have been out in the intersection and the force of the crash pushed both of them back into the lane and into the Porsche (not a Cayenne). That’s what insurance is for, but if I were the Prius owner, I’d probably sue.

It's the Daily Mail, a propaganda scandal sheet. The SUV IS enormous...by UK standards. They drive around in motorized skateboards so anything bigger than a Honda Fit is gargantuan. This article, especially the picture captions is an editors nightmare. Half the captions are grammatically incomprehensible.

Ahem. Looking at the pictures, it appears that the Schwarz was on the right side of the double yellow lines. The prius was under him? What was it doing there? Some sort of kamikaze move?
Take a look at the pix and tell me what I missed.

So the Prius might have caused this then? I will wait for more information, but it sounds like Arnold would not have seen the Prius in time to do any correcting.

By the way, those who mock Arnold's vehicle, he runs it on recycled oils and stuff like that for fuel.

In the People's Republic of Cambridge, there are a lot of Priuses... who happen to be driven by rude and red light running drivers... just like their liberal superiors, they think they are morally superior and thus able to break the law and behave in an anti-social manner. They are also more likely to be driving alone with the windows up... wearing a mask lol.

The writer's description of the accident is really bad. It makes it sound much worse than it really was, and never indicates if the prius-driver was making an illegal U-turn.

This story is a mess. If one looks at the photos, why was the Prius in Ahnold's lane? The article initially says the Prius was making a U-turn, while its diagram indicates the Prius was making a right turn off Sunset, and further down the article a witness says "the Prius appeared to be making a left turn onto Sunset Boulevard."
Reportage at its best...

Only in the UK is a Yukon a "monster SUV". I rented a Jag F-PACE the last time we were in England, and while it is about a medium sized vehicle here, it was pretty large for their little munchkin/elven roads.
Re #29, online sources report that Arnold is over six feet tall, most say 6'2". Frequently they exaggerate a bit for movie stars.
Like Kurt Russell is listed at 5' 11" online and if he reaches over 5' 8" I'll be quite surprised. Goldie is listed at 5'6" and that may be exaggerated an inch or two, also. Look at photos of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell side by side, he "towers" about 2", or maybe 3" at most, over her, and my bet is that she isn't actually 5'6", more like 5'4-5'5", which would make Russell 5'6" to 5'8", which I think is about right. Russel has always been a little guy, and never anywhere near 5'11".
My bet is that Arnold is somewhere between 5'11" and 6', and they claim an extra 2-3" ...., which is pretty typical in Hollywierd.

# 29; Arnold had a dummy of himself at Madam Toussad’s Wax Museum in Vegas about ten years ago. I’m six feet. That figure was shorter than me. He’s no way six-two.

You mean the Terminator drives a gas-guzzing GMC Yukon? (21 / 27 mpg)?? I thought that he is supposed to be a rabid "climate change" envirowacko (see below). Not riding a bicycle around town, or walking? What a hypocrite, and of course, always a total buffoon.
From the Schwarzenegger Institute: https://www.schwarzeneggerclimateinitiative.com/about
"Arnold Schwarzenegger has been fighting pollution and climate change for nearly 20 years. His approach has always centered around the idea that we need "less talk, more action". During his tenure as Governor of California he worked to pass the Global Warming Solutions Act to cut emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, the Million Solar Roofs Initiative. He also worked with President Obama to create a national automotive emissions standard based on California’s regulations . . . " (there's more of this BS on the website)
