Michael Rapaport filmed the moment a brazen thief sauntered out of a Rite Aid in the Upper East side of New York City with two shopping bags full of stolen goods, calling it 'pathetic' that brazen crime continues to spiral in the Big Apple because of soft-on-crime policies. The actor and comedian, who posted footage of the incident on Instagram, told DailyMail.com that he was ‘disgusted’ and ‘surprised’ when he saw the thief stocking up on items from three different sections of the pharmacy before deciding he was satisfied. 'These criminals know there are no ramifications. We have to put more of these mfers in jail,' he said.

Any actuaries out there? What's the insurance cost / benefit of allowing 100 people a month walk in and take what they want vs. shooting 1 thief caught red handed? It should be noted this Rite Aid is closing because of all the thefts.

I have zero empathy for the people in NYC who voted for this mess and now want to complain about it. You get the government you vote for. How is your sanctimonious virtue signaling anti-law and order ethos handling rubbing up against cold reality? Just like ignorant students who praise communism yet have no clue what it actually means, you are the problem. This is not tiddlywinks we’re playing. People you vote in in office have a real effect on how you live your life. Next time around, you might want to actually think about who wants to allow criminals to run wild and what it means to you personally. Time to get out there and support real law and order candidates who will protect you because that liberal agenda will get you killed.

Re #6. This level of theft will become unacceptable shortly, and even more stores will close. Rite-Aid will have a large deductible per claim, and their insurance is not in play for shoplifting. The overall losses from this will, however, make it untenable for a lot of businesses, and they will simply leave. We can then look forward to the usual cries of racism and whining about the lack of retail stores in poor neighborhoods.

Not mentioned is the fact that the security guy was also black and probably knew the thief, judging by the casual actions of both. This is not a theft problem it's a black problem. Close the stores and force these thieving little bassturds to travel miles for their needs. I would load the pharmaceutical shelves with poison and label the bottles with something desireable and benign but that's just me.

Well if those pharmacies want to continue to operate without massive losses they are going to convert or transform themselves into pick-up only stores, where orders are taken on websites over the internet, are assembled by employees, and are then provided to customers at secure pick-up areas at the front of the store only after the customer has paid in full for the order. If Criminal-American “communities” don’t like that, they have only themselves to blame. Of course the leftist, progressive and socialist Democrats will claim that such a security adjustment by the corporations that operate the involved pharmacies are racists as they would only need to transform their stores in or near minority Criminal-American “communities” to stop the mass shoplifting thefts.

When I was I South Africa about 15 years ago, I was looking for an auto store to get some car wax. We had been driving on remote roads in Kruger Park, and small tree branches had dragged along the sides of the rental car, leaving marks. I wanted to see if waxing the car would clean up these marks before returning the car, saving a damage charge. In any case, we found a large shopping center and an auto accessories store out in the parking lot. I went in and was surprised that there was NOTHING to look at....ALL the products were behind the counter and you had to ask for what you wanted and the clerk would show you what they had, you'd choose and purchase. I got my wax-polish, paid and left. I noticed some pretty sketchy looking folks hanging around the area, including one black dude with a enormous pink, fuzzy hat, kind of like a puffed out engineer's hat but sized for a football game mascot, literally 18" across, sitting on his giant "fro" hairdo. Then a few more unsavory characters wandered by, and I suddenly understood why the store was laid out that way. Hard to shoplift if you cannot get near any of the merchandise. Coming to a store near you.

Washington—Republicans’ faith in science is falling as Democrats rely on it even more, with a trust gap in science and medicine widening substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, new survey data shows. It’s the largest gap in nearly five decades of polling by the General Social Survey, a widely respected trend survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago that has been measuring confidence in institutions since 1972. That is unsurprising to more than a dozen scientists reached for comment by The Associated Press, but it concerns many of them. Science used to be something all Americans would get behind, Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley said.
