NEW YORK— The stock market is losing crucial support from the Federal Reserve. Omicron is causing havoc at businesses around the world. And Russia just might be preparing to invade Ukraine, creating more uncertainty and raising the prospect of even higher oil prices. No wonder investors are freaking out — and selling stocks. The S&P 500 has dropped nearly 10% from its record set on the first trading day of the year, the biggest setback for Wall Street since its collapse when the pandemic first struck. And the market’s moves have been fierce amid the mounting uncertainty. The S&P 500 had four straight drops of 1% through Friday, the longest

I'm seriously considering a 2% move to gold. But since it is an absolutely non-performing asset, I'll not go over 4-5%.

The time to buy is when everyone else is in a panic, and the time to sell is when the market is ecstatic. When people are saying it's never going up again, buy. When they're saying, it's never going to go down again, sell. Me, I get dividends from my 20 diversified ETFs every month. I determine which ones are below their target weights, and of those, which one had the worst return for the last 30 days. That's where the dividends go. And, I'm not selling anything, at least until I'm retired, or have exhausted my savings. I like gold mining companies. They are positively correlated with gold, and negatively with energy. Real gold costs you to own it, while gold mining companies pay a dividend. I target 5% of my assets for gold mining stocks (in the form of an ETF).

Fed plans to raise rates starting in March
to cool inflation

WASHINGTON—The Federal Reserve signaled Wednesday that it will begin a series of interest-rate hikes in March, reversing pandemic-era policies that have fueled hiring and growth — and stock market gains — but also stubbornly high inflation.Chair Jerome Powell said at a news conference that inflation has gotten “slightly worse” since the Fed last met in December. He said raising the Fed’s benchmark rate, which has been pegged at zero since March 2020, will help prevent high prices from becoming entrenched.Seeking to calm fears that higher rates might hurt the economy, Powell said the central bank can manage the process in a way that prolongs growth and keeps unemployment low.

NBC News ran an op-ed by abortion advocates who spuriously attempted to link the pro-life movement and the March for Life to white nationalism, claiming they are willing to overlook racist agendas in order to form a united front against abortion. The piece ran on Monday and was authored by pro-choice advocates Renee Bracey Sherman and Lizz Winstead who pointed to the Patriot Front crashing the March for Life event last week as proof that the movement supports white supremacists. They called it a “dog whistle … coming from inside the house” and alleged that the incident proves pro-life advocates are “ignoring racism.”

Brazen thieves have been hitting the same Upper East Side Rite Aid for months, forcing it to close - and now, numerous small businesses in the upscale Manhattan neighborhood, where residents say they are on high alert because of rising crime, are worried they will soon suffer the same fate after a string of thefts.Shelves are already bare in the Rite Aid store, located at the corner of 80th Street and 2nd Avenue because it will shut its doors for good on February 15, the manager told DailyMail.com, a day after a thief was caught on video boldly sauntering out with shopping bags full of stolen goods. In 1964, the Supreme Court issued a “landmark” decision in New York Times vs. Sullivan, which established the very high bar of requiring the smeared plaintiff to prove there was “actual malice” on the part of the media outlet. Now The Times is exploiting that standard again in the feisty First Amendment test brought by Sarah Palin. There is no doubt that the liberal media are nervous about this “prestigious” newspaper being forced into court to defend their reckless character assassinations of conservatives.Palin first sued The Times in 2017

In 2016, Donald Trump pulled off an extraordinary political feat only he could have achieved. As the army of highly compensated professional political consultants in Washington, D.C., watched aghast, Trump single-handedly wrested the Republican nomination from the grip of a GOP establishment that had long enjoyed complete control of national and state party hierarchies, fundraising structures, and think tanks that determine policy priorities. As Trump’s rogue campaign trounced establishment candidates in state after state in the GOP primaries—despite the unified opposition of Conservatism, Inc.—he not only defeated that establishment’s lockstep institutional opposition, he defeated their agenda

Former Clinton advisor and Democrat pollster Mark Penn joined ‘Americas Newsroom’ to discuss Biden's continuing drop in polls as COVID-19, inflation, and crime is on the rise. Penn said Biden is facing a "double-barreled" problem.MARK PENN: The president has the double-barreled problem of people are upset that the virus is continuing. But I think even more importantly, now that inflation has raged and therefore so few people think the economy is going in the right direction. As you know, when things are going badly, the ins get voted out. And that can be a very powerful force here, and I rarely have seen numbers this bad in recent times.

The latest from the Durham investigation which should have been completed ages ago is not good news. According to reports, Durham’s team only this month found out about key evidence that should have been analyzed months ago.As most Americans know, corrupt Obama officials during the 2016 Election used a false document (the Steele Dossier) as a basis for spying on the Trump campaign and Administration. This dossier was a lie created by the Hillary gang and the DOJ and FBI used it anyways in a coup attempt to have President Trump removed from office.

Washington—Republicans’ faith in science is falling as Democrats rely on it even more, with a trust gap in science and medicine widening substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, new survey data shows. It’s the largest gap in nearly five decades of polling by the General Social Survey, a widely respected trend survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago that has been measuring confidence in institutions since 1972. That is unsurprising to more than a dozen scientists reached for comment by The Associated Press, but it concerns many of them. Science used to be something all Americans would get behind, Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley said.

"We have no additional details or information to share."

Surveillance video shared on social media of a shooting inside a Spring Garden pizza shop last month appears to contradict portions of the initial account shared by police, including the assertion that the shooting victim was shot after he tried to strangle the mother of the teenager who ended up firing on him. The 28-second video instead shows the would-be robber forcefully reaching for the register — not the cashier — in an apparent attempt to steal money. Within seconds, a 14-year-old behind the counter pulled a gun from his waistband and fired from point-blank range, the video shows.

The big news on Monday night was that Joe Biden, in response to a perfectly appropriate question from Fox News White House correspondent Steve Doocy, not only refused to answer, but openly and into the mic called Doocy a "stupid son of a b‑‑‑‑." FAIRFAX COUNTY, Virginia – Fairfax County Public Schools made a show of defying Virginia Gov.
