Donald Trump and the Future of MAGA

Original Article

In 2016, Donald Trump pulled off an extraordinary political feat only he could have achieved. As the army of highly compensated professional political consultants in Washington, D.C., watched aghast, Trump single-handedly wrested the Republican nomination from the grip of a GOP establishment that had long enjoyed complete control of national and state party hierarchies, fundraising structures, and think tanks that determine policy priorities. As Trump’s rogue campaign trounced establishment candidates in state after state in the GOP primaries—despite the unified opposition of Conservatism, Inc.—he not only defeated that establishment’s lockstep institutional opposition, he defeated their agenda

MAGA is here to stay. Burgeoning, like a snowball rolling down a tree-less mountain. Like Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi, by "killing" it in 2020, you have only served to make it stronger. Until it has penetrated every facet of society. And it is, with each passing day.

I hazard to say most Americans are politically inert. They vote, when they vote, in accordance with whatever has "momentum". People want to belong, and if the watercooler crowd goes one way, the lemmings follow. and by doing so are part of the popular folk. Every few years another movement or other pops up. They surface and either prevail for awhile (Reagan Revolution) or crash (McGovernism) fairly quickly. MAGA is no different. Time marches on. Memories and direct participation fade. Some of it will fold into the next big "conservative" thing. Much of it will fade over time.

MAGA Americans have learned a lot since the Tea Party days. This movement of God-honoring, Flag waving, Constitution supporting and gun toting conservatives are here to stay. Oh yes #1 I say it loud and say it strong right with you. We are only growing in number every day. We are done listening to the wimp GOP that doesn’t want to fight for this beautiful land that brave men and women died to give us!

Interesting article. I agree with much of it especially regarding those in Trump’s inner circle who willingly undermined him. President Trump brought meaningful change to the American political landscape and that is unusual. It doesn’t happen very often, but he managed to show people what could be. He worked so hard to change the status quo and was undercut by his own party and sometimes his own children. He absolutely had blind spots and flaws, but we all do. However, I will never fault him for loving this country so much that he put up with daily personal assaults by the wretched media and still managed to do more for this country than any President in recent history. The media made it their goal to keep such pressure on him that Americans themselves would tire of it and abandon him because there was always chaos surrounding him. We did not because we knew we had a champion in him and that was something we had not seen in ages. In my opinion, President Trump believed that everyone that worked for him loved this country like he did. Clearly, they did not. Even when his policies were successful they were busy behind the scenes creating mischief. It says a lot about a person’s character when they are so disloyal and for what? The status quo which has been revealed to be nothing less than massive corruption of government agencies, pay to play as a way of conducting the people’s business, and worst of all, the loss of belief in the founding principles of this nation. No one ever said Donald John Trump was perfect, but if he had had a fair shake with good people working alongside him, and a fair press this country would look totally different today. The knives were out then and they will be out once again if he should decide to run. The same people will be plotting against him, deriding him, and trying to marginalize him. A run will not be easy. They will be even more vicious than before. What we have to decide as Americans is if we are going to support the one guy willing to stand up for us and this country or allow the bad guys to intimidate us into abandoning him. I say we stand and fight with him. Bring on DeSantis and go out there and tell Americans that they will do everything in their power to restore this country, put it on the right track again and put Americans first. Keep the emphasis on the people and the country they love. Be a happy warrior. Give the people hope. You can bet the globalists will have a major meltdown but the people will cheer.

What is Clarence Thomas? An amazingly thoughtful and intelligent Supreme Court justice? A hero of sorts that overcame the disadvantages of his upbringing, the prejudices of his time, and the damage done to his career by affirmative action and ended up at the very top of the legal system? Well, yes, those are both correct answers. But the jabbering parrots on “the View” didn’t arrive at that answer. No, according to those bitter, cackling hens, Clarence Thomas is a “race traitor.” Yes, they really said that. Oh, and they implied that Amy Coney Barrett is a traitor to women.

Washington—Republicans’ faith in science is falling as Democrats rely on it even more, with a trust gap in science and medicine widening substantially during the COVID-19 pandemic, new survey data shows. It’s the largest gap in nearly five decades of polling by the General Social Survey, a widely respected trend survey conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago that has been measuring confidence in institutions since 1972. That is unsurprising to more than a dozen scientists reached for comment by The Associated Press, but it concerns many of them. Science used to be something all Americans would get behind, Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley said.
