Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot Calls Out
Teachers' Union Over Latest Stunt

Original Article

Teachers’ unions have consistently put the needs of America’s children last since the beginning of the pandemic, and even Democratic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is getting sick of their nonsense. In Chicago, a vote among members of the teachers’ union on Tuesday showed staunch support for remote learning amid record coronavirus case numbers, but Chicago Public Schools decided to cancel classes outright for Wednesday and Thursday to fight back. As for Friday, some schools have already decided to cancel, and a district-wide announcement is expected Thursday night. The district’s administration referred to the union’s stunt as an “illegal work stoppage.”

If you don’t show up for work you don’t get paid. If a week later you still haven’t come to work you no longer have a job. Fire these so-called teachers & give the Ed budget money directly to parents so they can send their children to private schools where they can get a decent education.

This goes for any profession, but especially for teachers (i.e., those who can't): If you didn't want to work, you shouldn't have hired out. Go ahead and admit, you are lazy know-nothings gnawing on the government teat.

Sounds like this writer hasn't had to deal with kids and the school system. Because the profession hasn't put kids first in at least 30 years, maybe more. They have been doubling down on the propaganda, and unless parents start taking a little more responsibility for their children's education, the generation now in school is going to turn out to be an appalling mess.

Now that's democrat logic for ya, close schools altogether rather than use remote learning. From what we've seen of Chicago's young people, NO method of education is working. Get rid of the union and do what's best for the students for once.

Chalk this one up to the fact that people have lost their damn minds during the pandemic. Last night a story was reported on local news affiliates about a Houston teacher who put her teenage son in the trunk of her car and drove to a COVID-19 testing location. She did so because he tested positive for COVID-19. Adding another layer to this crazy story is the fact that the 13-year-old boy’s mother is a teacher. She’s on administrative leave now. And she has a warrant out for her arrest. Sarah Beam has been charged with endangering a child. Cy-Fair ISD Police Department said a warrant has been issued for her arrest.

To competently manage any situation, accurate information is a requirement. Americans require precise data about the COVID pandemic to analyze the performance of our leaders and assess personal risk. Unfortunately, it is becoming more apparent that the corporate media and public health officials have subjected us to inaccurate data and word games for the last two years. We all remember the CNN death ticker that ran until Joe Biden’s inauguration, and Americans are still subjected to regular hysteria about hospitalizations and cases. One new statistic from New York is just the tip of the iceberg on how the “experts” have manipulated some Americans into mass hysteria.

Joe Biden and the Democrats need to give up the ghost on Build Back Better already. But the Democrats just don’t seem to be able to quit it. I guess the bottom line is that they don’t have much to promote themselves for re-election with, as we go into the midterms. They don’t have much that they can pitch to their base that they’ve done that’s positive. Not that BBB would be positive, but the leftist base would like it. But if the last word from Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) wasn’t enough on Tuesday saying it’s not happening, now there’s more.

The liberal wing of the Supreme Court embarrassed itself Friday with a slew of false claims about COVID-19 during oral arguments over Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates. For example, Justice Stephen Breyer claimed hospitals are at capacity because of unvaccinated Americans with COVID. This is false. But perhaps the most ridiculous false claim from a Supreme Court justice came from Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who falsely claimed that 100,000 children are in “serious condition” from COVID. “We have hospitals that are almost at full capacity with people severely ill on ventilators. We have over 100,000 children, which we’ve never had before, in serious condition, and many on ventilators,” Sotomayor claimed.

Only 35 percent of respondents approved of President Joe Biden’s job performance, according to the CIVIQS rolling job approval average. Biden also received record-high (56 percent) disapproval from the poll, with nine percent having no opinion. The poll showed Biden with net approval of negative 20. This comes as Biden has been in office just less than a year and has dealt with a host of problems so far: a supply chain crisis, record-high inflation, and botched Afghanistan withdrawal. Biden had the lowest job approval among the 18- to 34-year-old age group, as 27 percent and 58 percent disapprove.

Thomas Edsall, one of the few decent contributors at the New York Times, published a valuable piece of journalism Wednesday on the sheer size of philanthropic commitment to left-wing “racial justice” measures. With nearly 3,000 words of interviews and assorted content, he explores how much money — nearly $25 billion it turns out — was donated by progressive elites to divisive racial endeavors after the May 2020 killing of George Floyd. Before Floyd’s death, Candid — a website for wealthy “people who want to change the world with the resources they need to do it” — said philanthropic entities provided about $3 billion in “racial equity funding” from 2011-19. The conventional wisdom is that she checked the right number of boxes to fulfill left-wing interest group demands, which is partially true, of course. Overlooked, however, is how there is one more, rather good and important reason Joe Biden, or really any politician, would pick someone like Harris: because by comparison, you’ll always look better. The worrisome trend in children too young to be vaccinated underscores the need for older kids and adults to get their shots to help protect those around them, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since mid-December, with the highly contagious omicron variant spreading furiously around the country, the hospitalization rate in these youngest kids has surged to more than 4 in 100,000 children, up from 2.5 per 100,000.
