Left and Center-Left Both Claim Stacey

To left-leaning Democrats, Stacey Abrams, who is making her second run for Georgia governor, is a superstar: a nationally recognized voting-rights champion, a symbol of her state’s changing demographics, and a political visionary who registered and mobilized tens of thousands of new voters — the kind of grassroots organizing that progressives have long preached. “I don’t think anyone could call Stacey Abrams a moderate,” said Aimee Allison, the founder of She the People, a progressive advocacy group for women of color. Moderates would beg to differ. They see Abrams as an ally for rejecting left-wing policies that center-left Democrats have

Comments:

It's beyond me why Dimmiecrats think this woman is some kind of shining star. Her only claim to fame is a few terms in the Georgia legislature and engineering voter turnout that exceeded 100% of eligible voters.

If Stacey Adams is the answer in Georgia, I can't imagine the question. What she has learned is that race-baiting and white guilt are a formidable combination in elective politics these days. Conservatives, unable to formulate much effective response, tend to run from these "issues", especially where black voters are such a huge voter bloc.

With the turn of the calendar to 2022, Republicans are not only looking to the 2022 midterm elections but to the prospect of Donald Trump running in 2024. Trump is hugely popular with the party’s base and that popularity freezes the plans of other possible candidates for the 2024 nomination.
