“America is back!” Joe Biden declared more than a year ago, as if immediately upon taking office, the former mediocre senator and vice president would restore America’s “role in the world.” Biden basically meant the United States would again attend international summits and sign meaningless joint statements. Otherwise, he’s failed everywhere. Let’s take a walk down memory lane 2021: China exacerbated the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic by lying for several weeks two winters ago, and evidence shows the world has been dealing with a deadly virus — nearly 6 million have died — because of recklessness at a Chinese biological research lab. According to returns processor Optoro, returning a $50 item costs an average of $33, up 59 percent from 2020, when it cost around $13.53 to do so. That has led to an increase in the number of retailers telling shoppers' to keep an unwanted gift, rather than return it, because the processing cost wipes out any profit they'll have made. The arrival of the Omicron variant was an early Christmas gift for Democrats who wasted little time to once again weaponize an ongoing national health crisis for political purposes as well as a convenient smokescreen for the failures of President Joe Biden. Most importantly to Dems is that the latest wave of mass hysteria provides an opportunity to go on the offensive against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a man whose handling of COVID has set the gold standard for the nation by prioritizing protecting the most vulnerable while preserving the state economy and protecting civil liberties. It’s simple: voter suppression is un-American, un-democratic, and unpatriotic,” Biden tweeted. Plato was a pretty smart guy, but even he could not see the future. If he could, his “Allegory of the Cave” would be rather different, as it would have to take into account the idea that not only would people choose to live in the cave they would go so far as to build one themselves. Plato imagined a cave in which people are chained in place and only able to see shadows projected on a wall by their captors. As they could observe nothing else, the shadows essentially become their reality.
