A new super-variant could be created if Omicron and Delta infect someone at the same time, one of Moderna's bosses has warned. Covid infections normally only involve one mutant strain, but in extremely rare cases two can strike at the same time. If these also infect the same cell, they may be able to swap DNA and combine to make a new version of the virus. Dr Paul Burton, the vaccine maker's chief medical officer, warned the high numbers of Delta and Omicron cases currently circulating in Britain made this more likely.(Snip)Researchers have warned that these events, scientifically called 'recombination events', are possible but they require

Everyone’s understandably focused today on how Cheney embarrassed Trump Jr and the Fox News gang by reading their texts to Trump on January 6. Ed has a nice write-up about it here. But don’t miss the forest for the trees. The point Cheney was making isn’t that Fox News hosts are hypocrites, although they are. The point is that the president’s own family and allies were pleading with him while the riot was unfolding to do something, yet he did nothing — for hours. Everyone around him treated it like an emergency. Not him.
Was that a crime?

The Salvation Army asked for more than donations this year.
The Christian charitable organization asked all white donors to reflect on their racism this year.
Wow.
After a major uproar the Salvation Army backtracked over Thanksgiving weekend and released a statement refuting the claims of their racial demands.
The Salvation Army then removed its absurd “Let’s Talk About Racism” guide following the intense backlash over a text last week that told white donors to “sincerely apologize” for their racism while hinting that Christianity is institutionally racist.

CNN suggested Monday 11 candidates who could replace President Joe Biden on the Democrat primary ticket in 2024.The establishment news network, which the White House has courted to tamp down coverage of Biden’s poor economic record, admitted the president’s “age” and “ongoing political struggles” are a factor in 2024 considerations.Biden’s approval ratings have dipped into the high 30s amid 40 year-high inflation, the southern border crisis, and the deadly Afghan withdrawal that left hundreds of Americans stranded in the country. He will turn 82 years old two weeks after the 2024 election.

Only forty-six percent of Americans now think Old Joe Biden is “mentally fit” to be president of the United States, and Jill Biden is not happy. In a portion released Thursday of a CBS Sunday Morning interview that will run this weekend, CBS’s Rita Braver noted that “quite a few Americans have some questions about the president’s current mental fitness.” The winsome Dr. Jill snapped back, “I think that’s ridiculous.” Why, of course it is. It’s all just right-wing calumny, that’s all. He is fighting a stutter! How could anyone possibly look at Joe Biden and think anything but That man is sharp as a tack? Well, let’s look at

Vice President Kamala Harris said in an interview that “women will die” if the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) overturns landmark ruling Roe v. Wade. Currently, the Court is weighing a case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which pertains to a 15-week abortion ban in Mississippi. The outcome of Dobbs could have direct implications on Roe.
In an interview published Sunday with the San Francisco Chronicle, Harris said that efforts for SCOTUS to curtail abortion could result in women dying, adding that she’s not “alarmist” or “extreme” by suggesting that.
“I don’t mean to sound alarmist, I mean this: Women will die,” Harris said in the interview.

The alliance of mainstream Democrats with communism is becoming obvious. I am so old that I can remember when embracing the Communist Party was a political death sentence. But Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-natch) Connecticut, already notorious for his stolen valor in claiming to have served in Vietnam, was not shy about becoming the “surprise guest” when
The Connecticut People’s World Committee presented its annual Amistad Awards on Saturday to mark the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party USA, with awards being presented to Sen. Julie Kushner, D-Danbury, Pastor Rodney Wade of Waterbury and SEIU activist Azucena Santiago.

The Biden administration is preparing for an explosion of Omicron cases that they believe will result in a flood of sick Americans going into the already overburdened hospital system. 'Everything points to a large wave. A large wave is coming,' a senior administration official in President Joe Biden's White House told Axios. The official, however, expressed hope the cases wouldn't be as severe as previous COVID variants including Delta as the White House continues to push booster shots as the best protection. 'It will be fast. It won't be as severe, but regrettably, there will be plenty of hospitalizations,' the person said. Omicron now makes up three per cent

Atlanta — An Associated Press review of every potential case of voter fraud in the six battleground states disputed by former President Donald Trump has found fewer than 475 — a number that would have made no difference in the 2020 presidential election.
Democrat Joe Biden won Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin and their 79 Electoral College votes by a combined 311,257 votes out of 25.5 million ballots cast for president. The disputed ballots represent just 0.15% of his victory margin in those states.
The cases could not throw the outcome

President Biden plans to mark the first anniversary of the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol, said White House press secretary Jen Psaki. She said more details would be revealed closer to the end of the year about how that day will be remembered. “To the president, Jan. 6 was one of the darkest days in our democracy. It was a day that our Capitol, our nation’s Capitol, was under attack and I think there’s no question you’ll see us commemorate that day,” she said at a White House press briefing on Monday. Happy Tuesday, dear Kruiser Morning Briefing friends. Fortune favors the brave but luck still finds its fair share of stupid people.
This long road trip is about to come to an end. I shall soon be heading back to my beloved desert to spend about 14 hours a day on a bike in order to deal with all of the carbohydrates consumed during my time away. Seriously, I should probably avoid beer until either Joe Biden or Kamala Harris are out of office.
Speaking of Democrats who really bother me, we have certainly been getting a faceful of Hillary Clinton in recent weeks.

Kroger has announced it will ban unvaccinated staff from getting paid sick leave if they catch Covid and will start charging managers and workers without their jabs a $50 monthly health insurance surcharge. According to The Wall Street Journal, the grocery store chain, which employed about 465,000 full- and part-time workers as of January 1, told employees through a company memo that Kroger will no longer hand out two weeks of paid emergency leave for unvaccinated employees who contract the virus.(Snip)Kroger will also require unvaccinated managers and nonunion employees to pay a $50 monthly surcharge that will go towards company health insurance plans.
Comments:
Such "fact checks" are now shown to be simply an agenda to supress [sic] free speech and the open discussion of science by disguising liberal media activism as something supposedly factual, noble, neutral, trustworthy, and based on science. So-called "fact-checking" is a fraud used to cover up the censorship of opinions that differ from those of the powerful Silicon Valley oligarchy. And now we have proof attested to in a court filing by one of the richest companies in the world, represented by some of the most elite lawyers in the world.
