Police allege a man arrested after a shooting on Railroad Avenue last month had Xanax, Suboxone, and fentanyl on him while being booked into jail on charges related to the shooting. During the intake process, corrections officers and deputies with the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office allege Martinez was carrying $2,254 in U.S. currency “in small increments,” according to the affidavit. Martinez also had 44 strips of Suboxone wrapped in clear cellophane, packaging that’s often used in narcotic sales, according to police.

A former Las Vegas police officer is facing federal charges as surveillance video shows him knocking out a postal worker. Retired Las Vegas Police officer Robert Gutierrez told police he punched a postal worker and officers told Gutierrez they didn’t think him punching a federal employee would be an issue.
The surveillance video showed Gutierrez walk up to the mail carrier while he was standing near a U.S. Postal Service vehicle parked along a curb in the 500 block of Sun Drive. When the carrier stepped onto the sidewalk, Gutierrez appeared to punch the man in the face, according to the complaint.
Jupiter is a pretty little town on the east coast of Florida — it's about 90 miles north of Miami. It's not a huge place. It's a safe and orderly place. Tons of nice people live there. South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) has advanced a bill in the state legislature that would codify her executive orders limiting transgender athletes to competing only in categories that correspond to their birth gender.
Noem filed the bill on Tuesday to limit K-12 girl’s school sports and state-funded colleges to allowing only natural-born girls to compete in girl’s categories, according to the Argus Leader.
The governor issued her two executive orders in March after the legislature rejected her revisions of House Bill 1217.

A new study finds that those who get a breakthrough COVID-19 infection after being fully vaccinated may acquire 'super immunity' from another infection. The small study compared 26 vaccinated staff at Oregon Health & Science University who had breakthrough infections to people who were vaccinated but never got the coronavirus.
