Burlington enacts mask mandate,with some

Burlington— After a fiery meeting that showcased how polarizing pandemic restrictions have become, city councilors voted unanimously to enact a citywide mask mandate Wednesday evening, requiring businesses to ensure that employees and patrons either wear masks or prove they are vaccinated. The mandate requires indoor masking while Covid-19 spread is “high” or “substantial” in Chittenden County... Per state law, it must be renewed monthly and cannot extend past April 30, 2022. People do not have to wear masks in restaurants, convenience stores or gyms if everyone in the establishment has shown proof that they are vaccinated, the ordinance stated.

Comments:

The foolishness of thinking that masks will stop the spread of the virus borders on insanity. Vaccinations don't stop infection from the virus and don't stop the spread of the disease.

I guess HIPAA means nothing now. Maybe they can force everyone to disclose all of their medical info on demand next?

With growing evidence that majority of new infections are coming from the vaccinated, this is a dangerous policy. Assuming of course that masks work.

FTA: The fracas reached its climax when Councilor Joan Shannon, D-South District — who had previously expressed reservations about a mandate — candidly told the crowd that their behavior made her more amenable to a mask requirement. There you are - masks and vaccines as punishment for her constituents

Recently a group of British politicians strolled through the London Tube singing, "Wearing a mask is like trying to keep a [gaseous expulsion] in your trousers!" I would guess that the Burlington mask Nazis haven't heard of this before.

This is NOT a VACCINE! It's a "gain of function" engineered boi-weapon designed to cause death in many, if not most, recipients over time. This is mass murder on an unimaginable scale. BTW, BOTH the virus and the 'inoculation concoction' have patent numbers! The virus, and the enhancement injection, are man-made, or midget-made, when you consider the stature of their originators.

One reason he stated is that we have “low natural immunity.” Are any reporters asking the follow up questions here? How could this be? CORRECTION*

It’s said that politics makes for strange bedfellows. Protests in Italy against the strict vaccine passport rules set by the government to chart a course out of the pandemic are proving that adage right. Demonstrations against rules mandating vaccine status checks, or at least negative tests, have brought together a disparate alliance, stretching from anarchists and trade unionists to neo-fascists and ultra-conservative Catholic groups.

Why would Biden abandon Bagram Air Force Base? It is key to all of Southwest Asia – just 400 miles to China and 500 miles to Iran. It is a vitally important geopolitical, military and intelligence platform with consequences...

From 19 July, adults who have been double jabbed in the UK arriving from amber list countries will not need to isolate for 10 days. But the government said the easing would not apply to France due to "persistent" cases of the Beta variant, first identified in South Africa.

Game 4 of the Lakers-Heat series draws its biggest audience so far, though it's still way down from last year. The NBA Finals grew on Tuesday, and cable news had a big night pretty well across the board. The rest of primetime, however, was a mixed bag, with NBC's Weakest Link putting up decent second-week ratings but Fox's Next premiering softly. Game four of the NBA Finals delivered 7.54 million viewers and a 2.9 rating among adults 18-49 on ABC.

Last night, ABC aired its Alec Baldwin interview regarding Halyna Hutchins’s death. It was already old news that Baldwin claims that, while he cocked the gun, he did not pull the trigger. The surprise was his confession that he feels no guilt whatsoever for what happened because it was everybody else’s fault, not his. (snip) ‘I’m just showing. I go, ‘How ‘bout that? Does that work? You see that? Do you see that?’ ‘And then she goes, ‘Yeah, that’s good.’ In other words, it was Halyna’s fault that the gun was aimed in her direction. Baldwin also claims he had no responsibility for there being a live bullet in the gun.

We’ve all heard the slogan “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” and human nature seems to bear out that bit of wisdom. The beginning of the book of Genesis recounts the story of Cain and Abel, two brothers who had a fatal falling out long before guns were invented. The only human remains found in the La Brea Tar Pits of Los Angeles belonged to a young woman who seems to have been a homicide victim 9000 years ago, again, long before guns were invented. Even after the invention of guns, people continue to kill each other with everything from common household implements to exotic poisons to complicated bombs.

Steven Spielberg’s long-awaited remake of Stephen Sondheim’s hit musical, West Side Story, is raising eyebrows after the director decided to release the film without subtitles to help English-speaking audiences follow along with the Spanish dialog. Spielberg and writer Tony Kushner decided to hew toward authenticity for the scenes involving the Puerto Rican characters and have them speak in Spanish in many of their scenes. However, Spielberg also decided to forego subtitles to help strictly English-speaking audiences understand what the characters are saying in the Spanish-only and mixed Spanish-English scenes, The Blast reported. Some Spanish-speaking commenters on Twitter were thrilled that Spielberg was excluding English-speakers from understanding the Spanish scenes.
