In medieval days, before there were secular dramas, there were roving bands of semi-professional actors performing morality plays. The plays were often short and sometimes even farcical. Plots were designed to encourage moral choices or illustrate Biblical stories. (Snip) Today, we have criminal trials as national entertainment. They usually take days and too often devolve into farce, as did the Kenosha trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, fumbled by the prosecutors (looking so much like Laurel and Hardy) trying the 17-year-old hero for shooting two felons to death and wounding a third man during a days’ long riot, arson and looting.

Most people have only cell phones, so-called Smart Phones, for their "news." Their news consists of mere headlines controlled by Google, Twitter or Facebook. So, of course they believed all the lies. Alec Baldwin "only" had a handgun, too.

To the Elites and the LSM, you can only defend yourself after you have been shot. BS to that. Proper firearm training will solve that dilemma - if you are in eminent danger of bodily harm you can protect yourself. Be alive to face a jury of your peers instead of being six feet under wishing you were.

Last Summer held many surprises for most of us and many of them were not the good, birthday sort. We watched in shock as rioting animals burned, looted and beat people while the police looked on and did nothing. We watched as government buildings, department stores and statues of past American heroes were destroyed. The one thing that was predictable is that democrat mayors and governors were okay with this behavior and conservative leadership was not, therefore liberal states and cities suffered most. Rittenhouse was one of the few who exercised his Constitutional rights, defended himself and private property and did not break laws in doing so. He could have easily sat home and watched it all on CNN but he actually did something. I have a feeling that there will be many Rittenhouses out there if this sort of mayhem happens again. We can not let the left interpret the Constitution for us - ever. Although I don't see myself traveling to places like Wisconsin, Portland or Seattle to do the work of the police, my home turf is a different story. Let the "peaceful protesters" beware.

FTA (Hinderaker's piece): "When the defund advocates talk about what replaces policing, they talk about community-led safety. They talk about neighbors and friends stopping crimes, relying on themselves. But what does abolishing the police look like in practice? What happens when the police really do stand down and let fires burn as they did last summer?" Any time this has been tried in the past, it has devolved into vigilantism. You think police corruption is bad? I draw your attention to the Regulators in colonial South Carolinas (as near as I can tell, two vigilante groups vying for control) and the Regulators (related to SC in mind set) in the 1870s range wars out West.

#7, seems like Rittenhouse was using his AR-15 as a handgun. If he was really an aggressor, he could have been firing from a LOT farther away. Instead, it seems Rittenhouse was "leveling the playing field" and not using his weapons superior range of fire.

The Left is attempting an Orwellian inversion of the American justice system, jailing innocent citizens while criminals run around doing as they please, the American streets incarnadine. President Trump was right when he said his enemies were coming not for him, but for his supporters. Kyle Rittenhouse, who never should have been charged with any crime, let along murder, is merely the present focus. The rest of us are next. Hearing the prosecutor's "“All he had was a handgun. Why did you think that was a threat?” gobsmacked me. Sheesh, that is the most idiotic question ever asked by a prosecutor. This stupid bastage ought to be run out of town after his disbarment.

Now, they are after the judge, who was appointed by a Democrat years ago, because he is fair and loves Americans and the veterans. They are despicable beyond means. I had heard many of Binder's idiotic lines reported, but had not heard the most idiotic....“All he had was a handgun. why did you think that was a threat?".....and it was pointed at his head from three feet away. I think that only Mr. Binder is dim enough to be unable to grasp that this is a serious, deadly threat. And Hindraker sees the same as I do if police are gone. Ordinary citizens will take up the slack, and will arm themselves, and will protect their homes and businesses. History shows that this is likely to be far messier than the worst situations with police and courts. But, like in the Rittenhouse case, most of the time, the people getting shot will be the bad guys. Be careful what you wish for, leftists, you may really hate what it causes. You have been warned repeatedly that 'defund the police' is a really, really bad idea. The more you do it, the more you will discover how bad an idea it actually is.

But there is another explanation why they—and even the vaunted Dr. Anthony Fauci—act as if natural immunity is not the best immunity against COVID-19 as it is against so many other illnesses, including childhood ones. In case you did miss high school biology and have been living under an Everest-size pile of rocks, natural immunity is what you have via antibodies after an illness ends that prevents you from getting that illness again.

Some believe that if we can stop the leftward lurch of America, we can "turn our schools around" and use SEL as it was "initially intended." But was the initial purpose of SEL really to teach appropriate social behavior and support "mental wellness" and "management of emotions," or is there a sinister underside?

The banning of Native American (American Indian) depictions for sports teams gets a lot of press, most famously the Washington Redskins renaming themselves the Washington Football Team. There’s a side to this issue that I had not thought of, but is argued in a lawsuit just filed in Colorado. That when the government is involved in such name bans, it is discrimination against American Indians because it deprives them of the ability to have things named after them. It is, according to the argument, the worst form of cultural appropriation, more like cultural depravation. In Colorado in 2021, legislation was passed banning the use of American Indian mascots, broadly defined.

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit in federal court against Utah-based company Xlear on Oct. 28, saying it has deceptively advertised its nasal spray as a treatment and preventative of COVID-19. The lawsuit asks a federal court to permanently ban the company from promoting the nasal spray as a treatment for COVID-19 and also asks that monetary penalties be levied against it.

We asked analysts from The Heritage Foundation to examine what is in the updated bill text. Here are their responses: Version 3 Updates • A federal takeover of family leave policies, which would provide the highest benefits to those with the highest incomes. • Imposing government price controls that would allow for less access and fewer choices to life-saving treatments.
