As they learn more about social and emotional learning (SEL) with its data-mining, parents are in an uproar. They're demanding an opt-out and deletion of all stored data. Some believe that if we can stop the leftward lurch of America, we can "turn our schools around" and use SEL as it was "initially intended." But was the initial purpose of SEL really to teach appropriate social behavior and support "mental wellness" and "management of emotions," or is there a sinister underside?

Comments:

We all kind of know this, don’t we? But the details are horrifying, as well as the confirmation that after decades of this anti-education education system the U.S. has the dumbest workforce in the industrialized world.

There is little need for brick and mortar schools. Time to accredit virtual schools with responsive teachers and let parents dictate who and what goes on. And restructure the department of education.

I'm in my 60's and work in retail, our store hires lots of college kids and young people and we generally have a high turnover, natural for this type of job. There are many, hard working, motivated 'kids' out there and we are a rung on the ladder. We are happy and hopeful for them when they move on. A lot of us 'mature' semi-retireds, not so motivated but were still old-school productive part time help. And we have the serious full timers who work their way up to higher positions. There are also quite a few driftless, self-centered boobs who pass through and basically waste our time training them. I'm sure the mix has always been true, but the percentage rate for that last group has been growing.

So here we find ourselves, since 1964 well on the way by Marxist Communists in America who control government education from Pre-K to Post Nominal Letters of higher education. “Let me control the textbooks, and I will control the state.” Adolph Hitler “Give me your four year old's, and in a generation I will build a socialist state.” Vladimir Lenin “Our enemy is not those with guns, but missionaries with Bible.” Jiang Zhernin - Head of the Communist Party –People’s Republic of China “ Ideas are more dangerous than guns. We don’t let our people have guns. Why should we let them have ideas? Josef Stalin “The battle for mankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom … The classroom must and will become the arena of conflict between old and new --- the rotting corpse of Christianity and the new faith of humanism.” The Humanist Magazine, Jan./ Feb. 1983 – John J. Dunphy “Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism. What can a theistic Sunday school’s meeting for an hour once a week and teaching only a fraction of the children do to stem the tide of the five-day program of humanistic teaching?” Humanism; A New Religion “I think that the most important factor moving us toward a secular society has been the educational factor. Our schools may not teach Johnny how to read properly, but the fact that Johnny is in school until he is sixteen tends toward the elimination of religious superstition. The average American child now acquires a high school education, and this militates against Adam and Eve and all other myths of alleged history.” P. Blanchard, The Humanist, 1983 “Critical thinking means not only learning how to think for oneself, but it also means learning how to subvert the traditional values in your society. You’re not thinking ‘critically’ if you’re accepting the values that mommy and daddy taught you. That’s not ‘critical’. ” From the book ‘Brave New Schools’ - from a speech to the National Advisory Council on Education, 1995 “Fundamentalist parents have no right to indoctrinate their children in their beliefs. We are preparing their children for the year 2000 and life in a global one-world society and those children will not fit in.” Democrat Senator Paul Hoagland, Neb. From a speech to the NEA “Every child in America entering school at the age of five is mentally ill because he come to school with certain allegiances to our Founding Fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It’s up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well – by creating the international child of the future.” Chester M. Pierce, M.D. Prof. Of Education and psychiatry at Harvard “Every child in America comes to school ‘ insane’ at the age of six because of the American family structure.” Humanist Philosopher, Ashley Montague, told to 6000 California school board members “The schools cannot allow parents to influence the kind of values-education their children receive in school; … that is what is wrong with those who say there is a universal system of values. Our [humanistic] goals are incompatible with theirs. We must change their values.” Paul Haubner, specialist for the N.E.A. “The major problem of education in our times arises out of the fact that we live in a period fundamental social change. In the new democracy education must share in the responsibility of giving purpose and direction to social change. The major function of the school is the social orientation of the individual … Education must operate according to a well-formulated social policy.” The N.E.A.- Policy for American Education 1976 during America’s bi-centennial the N.E.A. announced its new plan of education for the new world entitled Global 2000 “We believe that teachers are the major resource through which to effect a world community based on the principles of peace and justice … We seek to make history rather then recall it …it is with this sobering awareness that we set about to change the course of American education for the twenty-first century by embracing the ideals of global community, the equality and interdependence of all peoples and nations, and education as a tool to bring about world peace.” “The poisonous certainties fed to us by our parents, our Sunday and day school teachers, our politicians [and] our priests … help create neurosis.” G. Brock Chisholm Co-founder of World Federation For Mental Health (Goals of Psychiatry) “We can therefore justifiably stress our particular point of view with regard to the proper development of the human psyche, even though our knowledge be incomplete. We must aim to make it permeate every educational activity in our national life..” John Rees – once Deputy Director of the Tavistock Clinic – Britain’s Psychological Warfare body. “ … the family is now one of the major obstacles to improved mental health, and hence should be weakened, if possible, so as to free individuals and especially children from the coercion of family life.” Chisholm and Rees (both) An estimated 44 million Americans suffer from some form of mental disorder in America. Brought to your family by Marxist Communists who have as their goal the destruction of the American Family, our Free America, on their way of instituting One World Government Global Marxist Communism.

“Christianity is our foe. If animal rights is to succeed we must destroy the Judeo-Christian Religious tradition.” Peter Singer – father of animal rights movement. Hillary Clinton, when speaking to the Richmond Virginia’s Times Dispatch on reforming the nation’s schools, made this remark … “we need a remaking of the American way of politics, government, and life indeed.” She was a member of the National Center on Education and the Economy. “We no longer see the teaching of facts and information as the primary function of education …building a new kind of people must be a part of education … more and more schools are the center of all human resource development.” Dr. Shirley McCune speaking at a 1989 Kansas Governors Education Summit. She went on to say: “What is happening in America today - what we are facing is a total restructuring of our society … but I am not sure we have really begun to comprehend or to act on sufficiently the incredible amount of organizational restructuring and human development restructuring … [needed] to produce human capital.” William Carr, NEA administer, article in NEA Journal, October 1947 –“As you teach about the United Nations, lay the ground for a stronger United Nations by developing in your students a sense of world community…Teach those attitudes which will result ultimately in the creation of world citizenship and world government.” After years of listening to the liberal left bleat, parrot, pontificate, spin and berate conservatives, I now believe I understand their ideology. In the following re-write of the Preamble to the Constitution lies my assessment of the left’s true message. Liberal Preamble For the New World Order We the sheeple of the United States, in order to form a more socialistic, humanist government, establish true social justice, insure politically correct speech, provide for the complete disarming of all Americans, promote the general welfare state, and to secure the blessings of servitude to our beloved government forever … do hereby decimate and subvert the Constitution of the United States. Because …we hold these truths to be self evident, that; We are no longer a Constitutional Republic. We are a true democracy [mobocracy]. We are no longer a Christian nation. We are a human secularist society. We are no longer rugged and self-reliant. We are too self-absorbed We are no longer responsible for our actions. We are victims. We no longer want individualism. We want group approval. We no longer want self-determination. We no longer want religion and morality.. We crave diversity, perversity and acceptance. We are no longer capable of self-government. We have grown soft, ignorant and dependent. We are no longer fearful of government (i.e. the Founding Fathers). We demand to be taken care of. Alexis de Tocqueville was right! [We] “ The American People are so enamored of equality that they [we] would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.” "Our Founders understood the real enemy – the real battle, so ...... why don’t we?" Joseph Larson Battleground “Morality is defined as the condition of conforming with the right principles. It pits right against wrong. To ‘legislate’ means to make law. Law imposes rules of conduct and enforces them with authority. What law has ever been enacted by any government in the history of man that has not named something wrong and its opposite right? Every law establishes and legislates morality. What today’s critics are saying is, ‘We don’t want God to have anything to do with today’s morality. We want to determine what is right and wrong without God’ America has become the battleground between the world’s two oldest religions, The first religion to appear in the history of mankind worships God. The second worships man. In America, the first is expressed primarily by Christianity. The second is Humanism. It is not a question whether morality can or should be legislated. It is a question of which religious guidelines will under-gird the legislation; religious guidelines that deify God, or religious guidelines that deify man.”Supreme Court of Pennsylvania – 1815 (Commonwealth vs. Sharpless & Others) “The time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4

True, the corruption in schools is not so new. When my son was in grade school back in the early 80s, I always took the time to interview the teachers at the beginning of the school year asking them to present to me the books and the curriculum. They didn't like it but they did it. During the high school years I did the same. I interviewed a young girl just graduated that was teaching American History. When I asked her to show me the books and the curriculum, very proudly she told me that they were going to study famine in Ethiopia. I asked well, this is American History so are you going to teach about George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and the War of Independence? She flatly told me No, that is not important. After that, I went directly to the "counselor" told him to change my son from that class and if he didn't do what I asked, I was going to go public to the newspapers. I did this all throughout his education. When in college my husband and I did the same. Today he has two degrees in architecture and is finishing his MDA. He has two children and he is doing exactly the same to his kids. I want to tell you all that, all the years I did this, I also worked full time. When there is a will, there is a way.

Oh, yeah, just hit enter on some computer keyboard and it will all be wiped out. Privacy is long dead. All that data is in multiple places, and you don't know who has it where, and for what purposes it is used. The public simply has no idea how much they've given away their privacy and the details of their private lives for a few cents off gas or groceries, for example. Winston Smith had more privacy in 1984 than we have in 2021.

After 20 years of teaching in public schools I am preparing to retire. Here is my take on the state of public education right now: It is horrible. Grandparents, if you want to leave a legacy for your grandchildren, then fund their move to a private of quality parochial school... now! It is the best use of your money, period. Parents, sacrifice whatever you need to give up in order to get your children into a quality school. There are quality public schools. If you have to change jobs, move, or drive an hour, do what it takes to get your children to a quality school. Better yet, join a home school consortium. Motivated parents can and do home school successfully. In this day of online materials, you can do it from anywhere that you have access to an internet signal. We have a communist education system - all children educated in the same thing to the same level. We expect every child to pass algebra 2 in order to graduate rather than creating a system that offers students opportunities in their competencies. I see smart kids struggle every day. Common Core was born of Satan's arse. It has done more to destroy mathematics competency than anything New Math ever did. The language arts standards have removed literature and writing in favor of "citing the evidence." Our children can site evidence alright. They just cannot read and understand what they are citing. Literacy is in danger. Make no mistake, this isn't on accident - it's a feature not a bug. Finally, if you love your children, then shut down the technology! Tik Toc is one of the most evil things I have ever seen. If you child is on Tic Toc, get them off immediately. It is a drug as powerful and addictive as heroine. I see kids every day that have only had a few hours sleep because they are watching or making Tic Toc videos. They are sharing nude photos by the millions - 9 and 10 year old girls! They are up all night texting, SnapChatting, FaceTiming, Instagramming, and any of over a dozen other apps they use to communicate. Almost every discipline issue we have in our school can be traced back to a cell phone. How bad it it? Just last week we had a boy sharing p or n hub. c o m link with students... IN CLASS. Kids write these links on the desks. Folks, this isn't like finding your dad's stash of Playboys. It is absolutely destructive. Run, don't walk! Get your kids educated. Because damn little is taking place in public schools. I could go on. Talk to a teacher in your school. Get them to open up about what they see. As a whole, we are not bad people. We want kids to learn. We want them to succeed in whatever endeavor they choose. But the chaos of society is magnified in the school. If you really want to know what it's like, sign up to substitute teach. I promise you, you will learn more in the first day than you have from a lifetime of reading articles and posts about modern education.

Parents of school age kids had better start paying attention. The majority of teachers are liberals, intent on brainwashing your kids. Those same teachers are the biggest bullies in the education system as well. What we are seeing in our public schools is a major attempt at grooming our kids, making them prey for any pedophile's path they cross. Unfortunately those same monsters are the very teachers who are administering the grooming. I have never been so glad my kids are out of school and are productive adults now. I fear for our posterity.

It's a good article. The author draws an out-of-order conclusion, however: "The only solution is a mass exodus from public education before it's too late." Consider that our formerly best-educated workforce largely was produced by public schools. What's different about the schools producing today's ignorant workforce? Two things: (1) federal involvement in schools that used to be run by the states, and (2) the education curriculum in today's colleges which is selecting for and graduating leftist teachers. I submit that task #1 would be to get the federal government's tentacles )out of state educational systems and abolish the Department of Education! Task #2 will take longer. The state and private colleges need to stop cranking out far-left teachers and scientifically-ignorant teachers. and the state governments need to recraft their criteria for graduation so that only literate high-school students who pass civics and history exams get diplomas.

The banning of Native American (American Indian) depictions for sports teams gets a lot of press, most famously the Washington Redskins renaming themselves the Washington Football Team. There’s a side to this issue that I had not thought of, but is argued in a lawsuit just filed in Colorado. That when the government is involved in such name bans, it is discrimination against American Indians because it deprives them of the ability to have things named after them. It is, according to the argument, the worst form of cultural appropriation, more like cultural depravation. In Colorado in 2021, legislation was passed banning the use of American Indian mascots, broadly defined.

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit in federal court against Utah-based company Xlear on Oct. 28, saying it has deceptively advertised its nasal spray as a treatment and preventative of COVID-19. The lawsuit asks a federal court to permanently ban the company from promoting the nasal spray as a treatment for COVID-19 and also asks that monetary penalties be levied against it.

We asked analysts from The Heritage Foundation to examine what is in the updated bill text. Here are their responses: Version 3 Updates • A federal takeover of family leave policies, which would provide the highest benefits to those with the highest incomes. • Imposing government price controls that would allow for less access and fewer choices to life-saving treatments. They were contact traced after “someone” was infected. The team is “99.5%” vaccinated, per Cal Athletic Director Jim Knowlton. Damage control was immediate. In the same news report, Dr. Monica Gandhi, UCSF infectious disease expert, said the vaccinated players never should have been tested, and that “guidelines” hadn’t been updated. Oops!

Is the U.S. House committee that purports to be investigating the January 6 riot at the Capitol even more of a kangaroo court than many in the MAGA contingent already believe it is?According to tireless journalist Mollie Hemingway who is an astute observer of Democrat machinations, the “uni-party” committee may be violating somewhat arcane but important House procedures when it interviews or deposes witnesses, a process which requires a majority and minority staff participation.(Snip)“January 6 Select Committee staff have been falsely telling witnesses that Republican staff will be present for interviews, according to multiple eyewitness sources and documents. In fact, not a single Republican-appointed member of Congress nor

Shed a tear for the Democrat donkey. Democrats in Washington face a newly intensified disaster-level dilemma. It is becoming more obvious each day Joe Biden cannot survive another 39 months in office. (snip)Unfortunately for all Americans, the Constitution mandates what happens on the day they finally wheel Biden out of the Oval Office and into the Delaware State Home for the Bewildered. Kamala Harris becomes president. D.C. Democrats privately admit that, even on her best day, Ms. Harris does not have a small fraction of the talent required to be president. (snip) Until Joe’s cognitive crash became so obvious, that was not going to be an immediate problem

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, say President Joe Biden’s reported plans to give $450,000 payouts to each border crosser subjected to former President Trump’s “Zero Tolerance” policy are “offensive to the American people.” Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Health and Human Services (HHS) are working to settle with a number of border crossers represented by the ACLU, who claim they have suffered trauma as a result of the Zero Tolerance policy. As part of the settlement, attorneys with the DOJ, DHS, and HHS are considering a plan that would give

Prosecutor Thomas Binger attempted to discredit independent journalist Drew Hernandez Thursday by portraying his coverage of the riots as “very slanted,” but his effort backfired. Hernandez captured key video footage in Kenosha on August 25, 2020, the night of the shootings. “Your videos that you have captured of these incidents that you call ‘riots’ they’re very slanted against the people who are rioting. You characterize them as ‘Antifa, BLM rioters.’ Correct?” Binger asked Hernandez, who works for Real America’s Voice. The videographer replied matter-of factly, “because they are rioting in the footage, yes

The most recent indictment by Special Counsel John Durham has fully exposed the notorious Steele dossier as nothing more than a collection of lies designed to drive the phony narrative that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia. But beyond Hillary Clinton and her cronies who invented and disseminated the hoax, there were plenty of other remorseless liars who contributed to the fiction. The most flagrant huckster of hysteria was Rep. Adam Schiff, the highest ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

As RedState reported, Project Veritas has found itself in the crosshairs of the FBI recently. That began with a raid on the homes of several of its journalists under the guise of looking for Ashley Biden’s diary. Apparently, a stolen diary is now in the purview of federal authorities. Will they be investigating bike thefts next? But what was so disturbing, besides the raids happening in the first place, was how quickly The New York Times knew about them. While O’Keefe was asked by the FBI to keep quiet, the Times knew within hours, pointing to a leaker within the bureau. But while the Department of Justice requested us to not disclose
