Big Tech Unleashes a Sophisticated New
Weapon in Their War on Online Anonymity

After years of steadily accumulating power, 2021 is the year that Big Tech well and truly flexed its muscle. (Snip) Yet with all the focus on censorship of big names, conservatives risk forgetting about an all-important right in today’s tech-dominated age: The right to anonymous speech. Revolver readers don’t need to be told that it’s more dangerous than ever in America and the West more broadly to voice an opinion at odds with the official, regime-sanctioned one mandated in Washington. A wrong word, or any word mentioned to the wrong person or in the wrong venue can destroy a career, a reputation, a livelihood.

Comments:

This is horrifying. Legislators and others all over the world are pushing for laws that would force anonymous writers on social media and other internet spaces to reveal their identities. And government and private entities, including a leftist group that makes unmasking conservatives its business are using AI to reveal the identities of people they consider dangerous. (Like, maybe, you and me.) Under the guise, of course, of revealing terrorists and their plots. The author points out the long, honorable history of anonymity as seen with the Federalist Papers, Thomas Paine's Common Sense, and much more.

Meanwhile, thank to the 'Patriot' Act, government has constantly abused the rights of average Americans in secret proceedings hidden from any scrutiny at all. This government is unfixable by any normal means.

It is funny how the ''progressive'' left has gone from being edgy counter-culture anti-establishment to now being associated with tech oligarchs and the ethos of ''you said something I don't like so now I'm going to tell on you and get you in trouble''.

"Anonymous" speech is not the same thing as "free" speech. The only reason people are pushing for anonymous speech is because the protections for free speech are eroding. (So "Thomas Paine's Common Sense" was anonymous? Not for long.) In fact, I believe this anonymous speech thing is what has led to the social media debacle. Think of Rockwell's paintings of the Four Freedoms. Is that guy hiding in a dark room somewhere, mailing out poison pen letters?

In medieval days, before there were secular dramas, there were roving bands of semi-professional actors performing morality plays. The plays were often short and sometimes even farcical. Plots were designed to encourage moral choices or illustrate Biblical stories. (Snip) Today, we have criminal trials as national entertainment. They usually take days and too often devolve into farce, as did the Kenosha trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, fumbled by the prosecutors (looking so much like Laurel and Hardy) trying the 17-year-old hero for shooting two felons to death and wounding a third man during a days’ long riot, arson and looting.

No, the Democrats—aka “The Party of Science”—did not flunk high school biology. Between grade inflation and “woke” stupidity, nobody flunks much of anything in high school these days. But there is another explanation why they—and even the vaunted Dr. Anthony Fauci—act as if natural immunity is not the best immunity against COVID-19 as it is against so many other illnesses, including childhood ones. In case you did miss high school biology and have been living under an Everest-size pile of rocks, natural immunity is what you have via antibodies after an illness ends that prevents you from getting that illness again.

In ‘Deep Blue’ New York, Voters Reject

In one of the bluest states in the nation, voters soundly rejected proposed changes to election law that congressional Democrats are trying to impose nationally. New York state voters voted “no” on Democrat-supported amendments to the state Constitution, pitched as “voting rights” measures, that would have expanded absentee voting, allowed same-day voter registration, and changed the rules on drawing legislative districts.

As they learn more about social and emotional learning (SEL) with its data-mining, parents are in an uproar. They're demanding an opt-out and deletion of all stored data. Some believe that if we can stop the leftward lurch of America, we can "turn our schools around" and use SEL as it was "initially intended." But was the initial purpose of SEL really to teach appropriate social behavior and support "mental wellness" and "management of emotions," or is there a sinister underside?
Native American Lawsuit Challenges Colorado
Ban On Native American “Mascots” As Discriminatory

The banning of Native American (American Indian) depictions for sports teams gets a lot of press, most famously the Washington Redskins renaming themselves the Washington Football Team. There’s a side to this issue that I had not thought of, but is argued in a lawsuit just filed in Colorado. That when the government is involved in such name bans, it is discrimination against American Indians because it deprives them of the ability to have things named after them. It is, according to the argument, the worst form of cultural appropriation, more like cultural depravation. In Colorado in 2021, legislation was passed banning the use of American Indian mascots, broadly defined.

The leading U.S. manufacturer of xylitol-based products says the federal government is deliberately trying to conceal a nasal spray it developed that it says has been scientifically proven to be effective in treating and preventing COVID-19. The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit in federal court against Utah-based company Xlear on Oct. 28, saying it has deceptively advertised its nasal spray as a treatment and preventative of COVID-19. The lawsuit asks a federal court to permanently ban the company from promoting the nasal spray as a treatment for COVID-19 and also asks that monetary penalties be levied against it.

Congressional Democrats have released a third version of their big government socialist Build Back Better Act. Compared to the previous draft, the newest version adds another 450 pages, resulting in a 2,135-page plan for a reckless tax and spending spree. We asked analysts from The Heritage Foundation to examine what is in the updated bill text. Here are their responses: Version 3 Updates • A federal takeover of family leave policies, which would provide the highest benefits to those with the highest incomes. • Imposing government price controls that would allow for less access and fewer choices to life-saving treatments. Sears, surrounded by her family, sparkled as the crowd chanted, “Winsome! Winsome! The Marxists on the January 6 Committee issued Meadows a subpoena because he was with Trump on January 6.
