In this week’s Congressional Oversight hearings, Attorney General Merrick Garland was asked about the infamous letter where he labeled parents who express opposition to a school board’s agenda as “domestic terrorists.” As my colleague Nick Arama reported: Under questioning earlier today, Attorney General Merrick Garland admitted that he had created a task force to look into alleged threats based upon a letter that he received from the National School Board’s Association. When specifically asked about the data that he was basing his decision on, he said, “The National School Board Association represents thousands of school boards and school board members and says that there are these kinds of threats.”

The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office is searching to find out whether footage exists of the fatal shooting Thursday on the New Mexico set of the Alec Baldwin film Rust.
In an affidavit for a search warrant, Detective Joel Cano on Friday asked the state courts to allow him “to confirm if the incident that took place was or wasn’t recorded.”
The indoor rehearsal scene October 21 at the Bonanza Creek Ranch saw Baldwin handed a prop gun that “discharged” and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Director Joel Souza was also injured in the incident inside the “grey/brown” structure on the Ranch location, as the search warrant issued by
Attorney Andrew Stoltmann believes actor Alec Baldwin “needs to start thinking like a potential defendant instead of just somebody who made a tragic mistake.”
“There are crimes that cover this sort of situation depending on his level of culpability.”
“I’m certainly not saying he’s going to be charged,” the Chicago-based attorney told Fox News, “but what I am saying is anytime somebody shoots another human being – even on accident, even in self-defense – the police and eventually prosecutors look very, very carefully at what happened.”
“There are literally about a hundred different issues that would need to be resolved, but there is something called negligent homicide,”
On Wednesday, President Biden traveled to Scranton, Pennsylvania, to sell his doomed “human infrastructure” bill, which smells more like an un-showered Green New Deal and quacks like another welfare boondoggle.
“The cost of the Build Back Better bill in terms of adding to the deficit is zero, zero, zero,” he lied, lied, lied. “Because we’re going to pay for it all.”
Well, yes, you better believe we are going to pay for it. Just not in the way Mr. Biden claims. This bill is “paid for” — just like every other dime of the $28 trillion in debt these dirty louts have racked up in your name over the past several decades.
Things are not sounding good as more information comes out about the incident in which Alec Baldwin shot a cinematographer and the director on a movie set Thursday.
Now there are reports that there had been a lot of problems before the shooting – that the crew was upset about long hours, low pay, and having to commute 50 miles from Albuquerque instead of staying in Santa Fe. According to the Los Angeles Times, the camera crew walked off the production just hours before the shooting:

Somehow, someone made the decision to let Joe Biden out and to go to a CNN town hall.
I’m not sure who thought this was a good idea. But even within the friendly confines of CNN, it was a complete train wreck — even by Biden standards.
Naturally, most of the questions from folks in the audience were Democrats or softball questions. But there were some highlights and it was disastrous.
Let’s start with the creepiness and the incoherence.

Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on a set in New Mexico on Thursday, accidentally killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.
The incident occurred on the set of “Rust,” an independent feature that was filming at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, a popular production location south of Santa Fe.
Hutchins, 42, was transported by helicopter to University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, where she died. Souza, 48, was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office.

We’ve reached the part of the program where some airline CEOs are finding it is better to use honey than vinegar to encourage their employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19. American Airlines is following the lead of Southwest Airlines and softening its language as deadlines loom and business disruptions are on the horizon. Things are moving closer and closer to Manchin’s $1.5 trillion red-line, with even Joe Biden now admitting the bill will be nowhere near what the progressive wing wanted.
Still, the delusion is strong with Bernie Sanders, and he was taught a valuable lesson during a combative meeting today. Namely, that when you have no leverage, you have no say.

Rumman Chowdhury, the head of Twitter's machine learning, ethics, transparency and accountability (META) team, told Protocol that the study only showed results based on bias in amplification–not what caused it. The content could be amplified for any reason.

The NSBA Board of Directors apologized in a memorandum to members on Friday. The initial letter, sent on September 29, asked the administration to investigate whether alleged threats to school-board members, over masking policies and “propaganda purporting the false inclusion of critical race theory” in lessons, necessitated federal investigation.

There have been a number of suggestions, from the conservative press as much as elsewhere, that we should go easy on poor Alec Baldwin concerning the terrible “accident” that resulted in a “tragedy” at his New Mexico filming location.
No, we should not. It was not an accident, and it is not a tragedy.
There a four primary rules of firearms handling, codified many years ago by firearms expert Jeff Cooper. Everyone serious about firearms has long ago (snip) It seems clear that Baldwin ignored every last one of these.
