Negotiations continued today over the reconciliation bill. While its original price tag was somewhere around $3.5 trillion, that’s now clearly not going to happen, thanks to opposition from Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. Things are moving closer and closer to Manchin’s $1.5 trillion red-line, with even Joe Biden now admitting the bill will be nowhere near what the progressive wing wanted.
Still, the delusion is strong with Bernie Sanders, and he was taught a valuable lesson during a combative meeting today. Namely, that when you have no leverage, you have no say.
This, per Axios.
Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) squabbled

Trying to get a 'meeting of the minds' with Sanders is impossible as he really does not have one!

If the Rats get 25% of this bill it will be hailed as a great success, a triumph, the great reset and the beginning of the end of global warming. America wants NOTHING in this bill. Kill the bill,Save America.

Manchin is enjoying putting the knife into Sanders & twisting 😈

Sanders screwed the pooch when he ran ads in West Virginia newspapers trying to shame / bully Manchin into reversing.
If they had left Manchin alone, he would have likely just caved as always. Instead, they now forced him into hardening his position in a state that Trump won by a huge margin.
The left has tried the same tactics on Sinema, with the same results.

Maybe Sanders has learned by now that he should not have sold his soul to the devil twice if he really wanted to turn the country socialist. Standing solid on his "principles" however flawed they are may have pushed him ahead of Biden in the primary. Instead he took payments from the democrat favorite to just go away like he did from Hillary. Too late now you old Commie, maybe you should have chosen to work for a living instead of following the dreams of Karl Marx.

Sanders is incapable of learning a new lesson. He's fully steeped in communism/socialism, a truly failed idea. He's a dinosaur.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are persecuting Kyrsten Sinema, trying to get her to vote for the Bill. They are hounding her! Five of her assistances have Quit! I'm thinking if they keep this up, SHE is going to be the one to jump the Shark and join the Republican Party! Wouldn't that cause a Circus! You can only push a person so far until they get their Back against a wall. That's when they are going to fight back! I think she is almost to that point!

You mean no one will be able to leave America, because no one will be permitted to fly out of the country.

While there's a big difference between $3.5 TRILLION and $1.5 TRILLION...there's still too much porkulous. Let's hold the line for zero Joe M!

I sincerely hope that Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema stick to their guns in apposing this bill. The best outcome would be that this bill never passes. When people are being paid more not to work than to work, you know that government spending is out of control. Yet, all but a few, Democrats want to squander more, More, MORE other people's money on pet pork barrel projects that will destroy this country financially.
Biden and Harris were sold to the U.S. electorate as moderates that would unify the country. The past nine months have proved this a cruel lie. Claiming that this bill will cost "nothing" is a deplorably cruel lie. It is all smoke and mirrors deception. This will place a debt burden on our nation that our grandchildren will struggle to pay off.

Are we really cheering the cut of $3.5 trillion to $1.5? That's insane! We are bankrupt in this Country and the crazies think money grows on trees or in our back pocket. Biden/Obama has already spent a few trillions. Can the drunken spenders hell bent on destroying our Country, please take a breather in their rush to kill our economy and our lives?

Manchin told Sanders yesterday that he is fine with a figure of zero dollars on this, which by all accounts sent Bolshevik Bernie into a spittle-flying rage. I think Manchin has decided the whole bill is crap, but he's still willing to talk about a much lower number.

This is all a smoke & mirrors Kabuki dance.
The ugly truth is that there are several Demo-rat Senators up for re-election in 2022 that don't want to have to vote on this bill! It would be suicide for them to vote and they know it. Specifically, Warnock the Warlock in Georgia, the totally useless anti-gun space cadet Mike Kelly in Arizona and totally worthless Maggie Hanssen in New Hampshire. But even crazy Bennet in Colorado and the phony "Hispanic" Catherine Cortez Masto in Nevada are worried stiff. And a few others are not too thrilled by it either.
A deal was cut that Sinema (not up until 2026) and Manchin (who loves the spot light) would be the "holdouts" to protect their colleagues. Not having any vote allows them all to just huff & puff about it .... forever.

They are cutting it back to 1.5 trillion by funding nearly all of the same programs but only funding them for 5 years instead of 10. We all know that government programs never die so this is smoke and mirrors. A 1.5 trillion bill is just as bad as a 3.5 trillion bill.
