Demonrats kill businesses. It is their normal behavior. I suggest that these people move away to a free state and start over, as difficult as that may be.

Well, Cook County is finding out, as all socialist utopias always find out, that eventually you not only run out of other peoples' money, you also run out of other people.

The property taxes on this family business rose by 640 % in one year. They went from ~$25,000 to $180,000+ in ONE YEAR! The business grew and sold flowers. This is Illinois, so no surprises there. The paint on my license plates has peeled off to the point that one of them is 90 % bare metal even though I pay $150/year.

Stories like this are so sad and it is happening everywhere, soon to be worse. My millennial son and I were watching a British mystery show just last night. On the show the the murder victim had just finished building a beautiful, new house. He had a wife and child, but had left to house to his parents who told the widow that she would have to move because they owned the house and couldn't afford to pay the tax. My son asked what taxes had to be paid since they already owned the house. I just told him that he better be prepared to do the same if his buddy Biden gets his way an resurrects the Death Tax. I told him about the families who lost homes, farms and businesses because the government decided that they need a cut of the inheritance. He said that he's going to "look into this" regarding Biden and his plans but I may have detected a crack in his "you're so dumb you only watch Fox" argument.

“The I-Team also found two other Northwest Side garden centers with nearly the same acreage as Kinsch flower farm that were not categorized "commercial" and have much lower taxes. When asked why they were different, the assessor's office said those properties were assessed according to documentation they provided.” Proof of donations to the Democrat party. Wanna bet?

#6, it's going to get a lot worse. You should also tell your millennial son to "look into" Biden's proposed new capital gains tax. If passed, it will jump to a confiscatory level. In Illinois it will go from the current 28.8% to 48.4%! And in case he thinks that won't affect him because he doesn't dabble in the stock market, you might remind him that the selling of farms and HOMES are capital gains. Who knows, he might start watching FOX to learn a few things.
