WASHINGTON — A nationwide eviction moratorium is set to expire Saturday after President Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress worked furiously but ultimately failed to align on a long-shot strategy to prevent millions of Americans from being forced from their homes during a COVID-19 surge. (Snip) The stunning outcome in Washington, as the White House and Congress each expected the other to act, exposed a rare divide between the president and his allies on Capitol Hill, and one that could have lasting impact as the nation’s renters face widespread evictions. Biden set off the scramble by announcing he would allow
Shafted again, right libs? How many times are you idiots going to believe what the Congressional Commies promise and don't deliver?
Looks like you better get off your lazy asses and take one of those many jobs being offered. I know it doesn't have the appeal of squatting on someone else's property and watching TV, but its time you earned your own keep.

Does this mean some of those freeloading tenants might actually have to pay up or get thrown out? Maybe get an actual job? Where is my miniature violin?

I have more sympathy for many of the landlords who are not rich. but finally scraped up enough $ to buy a small rental property to supplement their income. They have received no rent, can’t evict even the lowest dirt bag tenants, but are still expected to pay their mortgages, not permitted to cut off electricity, water, etc. & they are still expected to continue paying exorbitant property taxes.

Sorry, but when people are getting $300 per week plus $300 per month for each child they should be able to pay something to their landlords.

#4 That's a pittance to what some are getting. Remember when it was $600 extra a week ?
So a family of six already had two SSDI checks plus EBT, then one had a furlough with unemployment and the extra $600, now $300 weekly. They have had two tax refunds, increased EBT, three stimulus checks, probably rent assistance and will get the child credit monthly check. They could buy their own house.
But three people I know who are childless and didn't lose a job due to COVID couldn't get any help relocating.

Here's an idea: The dems can set up a non-profit. People can donate money to the 'Help People pay the Rent' fund. The donations will be distributed to the renters to pay the rent.
Government money will not be used. The federal treasury is not a piggy bank.

Clears up a mystery for me. Wondered why my neighbors packed up and left.

I was listening to talk radio this afternoon (Lars Larsen) and he said Oregon has 90 odd thousand job openings, Washington more, Idaho less. He also said that busser/dishwashers can make $17 an hour, ~$30k per year. I was talking to another guy yesterday who works as an engineer at a fabrication company - they are offering $20 an hours for trainee positions, significantly more for anyone with some experience and can't fill their vacancies. He used an example of a couple of high school sweethearts who could have a combined income of $60-$70k if they got off their butts and went to work.

Good news. PAY YOUR RENT. Landlords need income. If you are not working, get off your duff and start working.

Smart ones saved and bought themselves an RV.
Smart ones bought Bitcoins, cashed out, and bought themselves a condo.
Smart ones went to California to shoplift for food and clothing while living in state-subsidized hotels.

The fundamental question never asked is where did the Communist Federal Government ever have the authority and power to impose a ban on evictions of tenants who did not pay rent? Never again.

And to add insult to injury, I would bet most of those Rental Properties will need tons of repairs. Someone will have to come in and fumigate. Someone will need to come in and shovel out all the garbage laying around. Someone will need to come in and repaint the whole house. Add to that some of those Renters have torn the TV Sets off the Wall along with the Microwave and anything else if they have room in their Car. They have been living the good life for the past year! People who will not pay Rent while living in someone's Home are not the kind of people who will be good to that Home. It's not theirs, so they don't care! Sadly, the GOVERNMENT allowed them to be a hardship for the Owners of these properties (who had to continue to pay the mortgage on the property)! Makes me sick to see this happen to our country!

The people sitting home and collecting the government checks will now have to spend it on rent instead of drugs, booze and Netflix. Maybe somebody should point out all of those "Help Wanted" signs hanging in every business window up and down the street.

I suspect rental property is going to become very difficult to find in the future now that so many landlords have been shafted by this government moratorium. This moratorium is effectively a seizure of property without any compensation.

Not to worry. No doubt the Rats will come up with some twisted logic to blame their own failures on Trump.

Congress Crats thought Sleepy Old Joe had this covered but he tossed the hot potato to them. By then Dems had their bags packed for summer break and fled town without acting.
