MINNEAPOLIS - A Minneapolis City Council committee pushed forward on Wednesday with a measure that would give the voters power to replace the city police department. The amendment proposed and submitted by the advocacy group "Yes 4 Minneapolis Committee" calls for public safety to have a "comprehensive public health approach" but does not explain what that means. Under the plan, the police department would be replaced in the charter with a public safety department but doesn't outline how the department will work or be structured. "I am persuaded that this is not going to get better with another two weeks,"

Defunding the police while complaining about the rise in the crime rate is (*&)(^ . But then they hired private security for themselves and heaven forbid that any of the shop owners that are being constantly robbed or the private citizens that are being beaten up are given any help :(

If I lived in Minneapolis, I'd be looking to sell my house and move. I'd get away from this nonsense. This will not end well for the vast majority of residents, who cannot move or who own businesses in that city. They will suffer at the hands of government folly. I wanna know: Who is getting rich from "defunding the police"? Somebody is. Follow the money!

Are there any pictures readily available of the cities in Minnesota that have already been damaged by rioting and other illegal behavior? Just curious. Some of our censors censor information needed to inform the voting public. It is like we were told for decades that Cuba had the greatest medical help ever, and now we find that was not true. Who censors the censors?

As #9 points out, the citizens of Minneapolis are getting what they voted for good and hard. They may learn their lesson, but it won't keep. After Dinkins, NYC elected Rudy Guiliani who cleaned up the mess, and Michael Bloomberg who mostly continued Guiliani's policies. Then NYC got complacent, went mad again and elected DeBlasio who in two terms has driven NYC right back into a ditch.

Although the pandemic disrupted family life across the U.S. since taking hold in spring 2020, some parents are grateful for one consequence: They're now opting to homeschool their children, even as schools plan to resume in-person classes. The specific reasons vary widely. Some families who spoke with The Associated Press have children with special educational needs; others seek a faith-based curriculum or say their local schools are flawed. The common denominator: They tried homeschooling on what they thought was a temporary basis and found it beneficial to their children. “That’s one of the silver linings of the pandemic – I
