At the Olympics, the USA loses again and again,
but Americans don’t care

For many decades, the quadrennial Olympic games were grand moments of patriotism. Why should anyone care about the Olympics. What once showcased amateur sport and had a number of "stories" has disintegrated into a professional sports spectacular. Pro golfers? $40 million NBA stars? Those multi-million dollar gymnastics pixies? Right down the line. What's more stupid (and I mean stupid) is that the US taxpayer subsidizes this nonsense. Meanwhile the apparel manufacturers and retailers reap the benefits, while Coca-Cola and McDonalds spend truckloads promoting this bacchanalia of kumbaya peddling flavored sugar water and 'burgers. I'm boycotting. Won't watch a minute. The world's coming to an end soon anyways.

I do feel bad for the athletes who have trained for years without getting involved with the politics. It is a very American thing to set your sights on a goal and work single-mindedly toward it while sacrificing other options. The spoiled wokesters have ruined any reward these contestants might have earned.

I care for only the American athletes, coaches, etc., who are patriotic, but I don't know the identify of these people. Therefor, because of the Olympic policy makers are allowing the protests, the entire Olympics, including the patriotic individuals, are being thrashed by the few who are unpatriotic. These ill-considered woke decisions have wide-ranging negative consequences. The protests should have been permanently banned during the 1968 Olympics after two American 200 meters medal winners, John Carlos and Tommie Smith, raised their black gloved fists at the medals podium to salute the Black Power movement.

USA losing again and again and again? Uhhh...the United States is second in gold medals and second overall. Japan is number one in gold (by one medal) thanks to a 13 year old girl that won skateboarding. China is number one overall (by one medal). The United States is very much in the chase. Frankly surprised the 'woke' crowd isn't complaining about the Olympics being overly white, and how poorly the blacks are performing. Its unfair don'tcha know. White 'privilege' and all that nonsense. Btw, if the Olympics are going to add skateboarding, they should add the ninja contests as well. The Olympics would likely get more viewership. The people training for the ninja courses are definitely athletes.

You are judged by the company you keep. The rampant politicization within the US Olympics has ruined it. Yes, I know there has always been a political component to the Olympics but never one that has been weaponized against the people of a nation a team supposedly represents. It will not bother me if the US comes in last in every event. As badly as I feel for the athletes that do not share the opinions of the more vocal bolsheviks again one is judged by the company one keeps.

Most of the athletes are NOT WOKE. I tune in occasionally to watch, BUT, most of what is displayed are NEW sports that are absolutely uninteresting: 3 person basketball ? skateboarding ? whatever ? These are all sports kids play on the playgrounds and they are very uninteresting to watch, so I don't. Lastly, I do not want to watch PROS in the Olympics, I want to watch amateurs.

These Anti-American Athletes are really not very smart, Look at the ones that are not political but are grateful to have had the opportunity to be financially successful through their career and especially after. People like Jerry Rice and Shaquille O'Neill have been able to turn their success into millions of dollars just by being good guys and have to wisdom to understand that they are fortunate enough to live in a country where they can become wealthy and prominent. Even George Foreman who won an Olympic Gold Medal and saluted the crowd with an American Flag has had a successful career after boxing by endorsing hamburger cookers.

#24 the problem with those "new" sports is that they need to fill in three weeks of continuous events to comply with the tv contracts. I haven't watch these "games" since the pros were allowed to compete. I am waiting to see basket weaving as a sport. Don't laugh. It will happen.

I walked in to a room where the Olympics were on a TV. I was stuck there for about 15 minutes. During that 15 minutes, at least 13 minutes were shown with a constant backdrop of "woke-ness" -- either in interviews, or commentary by the broadcasters, or commercials. The only bright spot was a US female swimmer who actually said it was an honor to be there representing her country. I'm guessing the network didn't catch that in time to edit it out.

Perhaps it’s because I grew up surrounded by extraordinarily tough people, but I found myself singularly unmoved by the spectacle in the House on Tuesday, which reminded me of a bad mash-up of Dr. Phil, Oprah, and BLM-produced soap opera, rather than a legitimate inquiry into an event that Democrats have seized upon to consolidate their power by destroying their opposition. As sobbing congressmen and Capitol Police officers took turns talking about their psychic injuries, I was alternately embarrassed for them if they were really that weak, and frightened of them if they were that sociopathic as a pathway to power.
