At the Olympics, the USA loses again and again,
but Americans don’t care

For many decades, the quadrennial Olympic games were grand moments of patriotism. (snip) Of late, though, our athletes are no longer amateurs; the Soviets are gone; we worship at the Chinese shrine; the Olympics are on every two years and broadcast 24/7, making for complete over-saturation; and too many of our Olympic athletes hate the country they’re representing. For that reason, those Americans who love their country the most have cared the least when Americans have fallen flat in Tokyo.

Athletics had been hijacked by politics and the side doing the hijacking makes me want us to come home without a single medal.
Spoiled brats. That's what they are.

as the song goes ,” don’t love nobody that don’t love me .There are too many fish in the sea “
The “amateur “ sport stuff is tiresome and silly . So many alternatives without the ads , and smug wokiness from aging people playing mostly children’s games

Why should anyone care about the Olympics. What once showcased amateur sport and had a number of "stories" has disintegrated into a professional sports spectacular. Pro golfers? $40 million NBA stars? Those multi-million dollar gymnastics pixies? Right down the line. What's more stupid (and I mean stupid) is that the US taxpayer subsidizes this nonsense. Meanwhile the apparel manufacturers and retailers reap the benefits, while Coca-Cola and McDonalds spend truckloads promoting this bacchanalia of kumbaya peddling flavored sugar water and 'burgers.
I'm boycotting. Won't watch a minute. The world's coming to an end soon anyways.

Its so nice to hear that the 'Women's' soccer team lost to a bunch of blond haired, blue eyed women and the 'Men's' BB team lost to a bunch of slow, can't jump white guys. It adds extra flavor to the savoriness their defeats!

I do feel bad for the athletes who have trained for years without getting involved with the politics. It is a very American thing to set your sights on a goal and work single-mindedly toward it while sacrificing other options. The spoiled wokesters have ruined any reward these contestants might have earned.

true dat. Character used to matter. Their heroes are narcissistic materialistic and obnoxious. Nothing in common with them since they don't love our country. They don't represent us, just themselves and the global corporations. Plus they don't win because they have no heart. What's to watch , be inspired by and relate to? Nuttin'.

I also don't care and/or am happy when "we" lose (women's soccer) but this makes me profoundly sad. This means The Left has *already* won in terms of dividing the country. Ugghh....

I care for only the American athletes, coaches, etc., who are patriotic, but I don't know the identify of these people. Therefor, because of the Olympic policy makers are allowing the protests, the entire Olympics, including the patriotic individuals, are being thrashed by the few who are unpatriotic. These ill-considered woke decisions have wide-ranging negative consequences. The protests should have been permanently banned during the 1968
Olympics after two American 200 meters medal winners, John Carlos and Tommie Smith, raised their black gloved fists at the medals podium to salute the Black Power movement.

FTA: I hope they all lose, every last one of them,
From childhood to my college days I loved watching the Olympics. After professional athletes were allowed to compete I began to lose interest but was still pleased to read about successful US athletes. Now, I too am rooting against the US activist athletes.

Many of them hate America, so I care very little for them. Their politics and culture destroying antics have destroyed sports, so they reap what they sow. They don't get to avoid this very fact of life. We don't care, and they can't make US care.

I refuse to watch a single Olympic telecast. Kim Rhode is only American athlete I looked forward to watching compete in the Olympic Games. But she did not make the team.

Name one American institution that the Democrats have not destroyed in the last few years.
I used to say "Democrat left," but that term is now redundant.
Post it here for review. Thanks.

I live in a town probably inhabited by more former Olympians than anywhere in America. At the health club Friday night, the TVs were turned to a monster truck rally.

USA losing again and again and again? Uhhh...the United States is second in gold medals and second overall. Japan is number one in gold (by one medal) thanks to a 13 year old girl that won skateboarding. China is number one overall (by one medal). The United States is very much in the chase.
Frankly surprised the 'woke' crowd isn't complaining about the Olympics being overly white, and how poorly the blacks are performing. Its unfair don'tcha know. White 'privilege' and all that nonsense.
Btw, if the Olympics are going to add skateboarding, they should add the ninja contests as well. The Olympics would likely get more viewership. The people training for the ninja courses are definitely athletes.

You are judged by the company you keep. The rampant politicization within the US Olympics has ruined it. Yes, I know there has always been a political component to the Olympics but never one that has been weaponized against the people of a nation a team supposedly represents. It will not bother me if the US comes in last in every event. As badly as I feel for the athletes that do not share the opinions of the more vocal bolsheviks again one is judged by the company one keeps.

Most of the athletes are NOT WOKE. I tune in occasionally to watch, BUT, most of what is displayed are NEW sports that are absolutely uninteresting: 3 person basketball ? skateboarding ? whatever ? These are all sports kids play on the playgrounds and they are very uninteresting to watch, so I don't. Lastly, I do not want to watch PROS in the Olympics, I want to watch amateurs.

These Anti-American Athletes are really not very smart, Look at the ones that are not political but are grateful to have had the opportunity to be financially successful through their career and especially after. People like Jerry Rice and Shaquille O'Neill have been able to turn their success into millions of dollars just by being good guys and have to wisdom to understand that they are fortunate enough to live in a country where they can become wealthy and prominent. Even George Foreman who won an Olympic Gold Medal and saluted the crowd with an American Flag has had a successful career after boxing by endorsing hamburger cookers.

The nicest event so far was dressage. We still have horses in the Olympics! Clearly racist though. Only saw white riders. May the 'woke' crowd choke on their bitterness, hatred, and anger.
If they only had auto racing...

The sad part is that probably 80-90% of the athletes are patriotic. The few haters among them have spoiled the party for everyone else.

#24 the problem with those "new" sports is that they need to fill in three weeks of continuous events to comply with the tv contracts. I haven't watch these "games" since the pros were allowed to compete. I am waiting to see basket weaving as a sport. Don't laugh. It will happen.

I walked in to a room where the Olympics were on a TV. I was stuck there for about 15 minutes.
During that 15 minutes, at least 13 minutes were shown with a constant backdrop of "woke-ness" -- either in interviews, or commentary by the broadcasters, or commercials. The only bright spot was a US female swimmer who actually said it was an honor to be there representing her country. I'm guessing the network didn't catch that in time to edit it out.

I’ve turned my back and dropped trou with a full moon and a double bikers salute to the Olympics and my prayers are that USA teams that take a knee disrespect our flag and National Anthem and worship BLM can all lose every contest and go home empty handed with nothing but shame to show for it. Go ahead and drink get high have sex and show you late and get what you get.

Why should I care?
Athletics was once about athletics.
Now it is about kneeling, posturing, and stepping on flags.
They can all forget about my attendance, and my use of their sponsor's products.
Bye-bye.
