USA men's basketball reckoning with
new Olympic reality, stunning loss
to France yet another 'wake-up call'

After Team USA lost its Olympic opener to France, 83-76, on Sunday, ESPN analyst Tim Legler posited that perhaps this result could be a "good thing" for the Americans -- that it could serve as a "wake-up call" as they move forward in their quest for a fourth straight gold medal. Funny thing about that: Gregg Popovich and Jayson Tatum said the same thing after the U.S. lost to Nigeria two weeks ago in Las Vegas. Other countries have national pride and are playing to win. Too many of our athletes just want to prance around on the world stage and collect some endorsement payouts.

The NBA hates America and loves China. I hope they lose the next round too so they are sent home. They're an embarrassment to this great country!

I watched highlights of the French win. The woke American knee takers thought with some pro-players they would sweep everyone up but looked like third benchers. I hope they lose every game just like the soccer team. Play for the love of country or stay home nobody cares about their made up social justice war.

Way back in the day our Men's integrated BBall team (Amateur) beat all black teams 90% of the time. Especially in the playoffs. Our over 35 team beat an all black team that consisted of two high school All Americans and one former ABA starter. Final score was not close, we played like a team. Their "superstars" would not even shake hands after the game. We proved time and again Bball was everyone's game not just for black people.

I don't care. I don't watch NBA games, and even college basketball has become less enjoyable over the years. The NBA I recall has quite a few foreign players, so it's not unusual that other countries teams are much better. What games I have watched, the foreign players play like they're on a team, while the U.S. players play the game like it's a game of one on one.

This US Superteam is a throw together bunch of largely second-tier all-stars and last hurrah-ers. They used to win by showing up. Who's the Association's MVP, and where did he come from? Competition, if the NBA "stars" care for any, is much better than ever before.

They were too busy worrying about their social and political agenda to worry about actually playing basketball. They were also forced to play with that one white player (who they consider inferior so it is his fault they lost!). With so much other stuff on their mind, how could you expect them to play basketball! They have an oppressive country and flag to disrespect and social/political statements to make!

The coronavirus could be just a few mutations away from evading existing COVID-19 vaccines, according to the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although the pandemic disrupted family life across the U.S. since taking hold in spring 2020, some parents are grateful for one consequence: They're now opting to homeschool their children, even as schools plan to resume in-person classes. The specific reasons vary widely. Some families who spoke with The Associated Press have children with special educational needs; others seek a faith-based curriculum or say their local schools are flawed. The common denominator: They tried homeschooling on what they thought was a temporary basis and found it beneficial to their children. “That’s one of the silver linings of the pandemic – I
