Time to Convert to Soccer?

Original Article

A lifelong baseball fan, I abandoned the game this year after MLB sided with the Democratic Party in its campaign against ballot integrity in Georgia. It wasn’t just that: my home town team has put a “Black Lives Matter” sign and a memorial to George Floyd in right field. If I can’t escape politics at a baseball game, I’d rather go somewhere else. For the first time in decades, I haven’t seen a major league baseball game this year. Not only that, I haven’t watched or listened to a single pitch on radio or television. Then there is football. Commissioner Roger Goodell is driving the sport in a “woke” direction.

Golf is a good unwoke option. At least for now. The Tour had the stupid face diapers, but otherwise seemed disaffected by wokeness. Really hope this trend continues. Otherwise, I guess it’s bowling. Or cornhole. Or curling.

Soccer is THE most boring thing I have ever attempted to watch. Any game that can go on for hours and wind up with a 0-1 score.....has NOTHING happening. No chance I'd ever watch another game.

I once was invited in London to a football "match" between Arsenal and some other team, the name escapes me. Let me tell you, that was a boring experience. The final score was one to nil...and people were screaming in their seats the whole time. Bash baseball, bash football, bash the NBA, but at least they do not bring new meaning to the word 'tedium.' Minding the gap and riding the escalator in the Underground was more entertaining than this Arsenal match.

The pro golfers are smarter than the average bear and leave this woke nonsense off the links. Crowds are finally starting to come back to watch the tournaments. It helps that there are no black golfers out there putting on any kind of a performance since Tiger messed himself up. The woke sponsors, however, are another story. The number of black kids in their ads walking around on golf courses holding clubs and being recruited for golf schools is overwhelming. They somehow have the mistaken imression that they might someday be as good as the Asians that the black thugs like to beat up because they are a little smaller. Dream on.

I watched the same matches the Author mentions -- the Euro Cup finals. Was fascinated to see the formerly fascist Italians showing an outpouring of patriotisms for their country. It was almost like they live in a world where people can look past historic failings and see the good in themselves. Crazy, right?

FTA: "All of this will only contribute to our country’s growing racial strife, which I guess is its purpose." The purpose is to legitimize and normalize this kumbaya/CRT regimen. It's no different than any propaganda campaign. People run with the crowd, and the object is to get the herd moving, not necessarily a stampede. The idea is for the conflict to dull and the strife to reduce to nothingness as society adopts its expanded understanding nature.

#14's mentioning bumper stickers with "Give blood. Play rugby." brought back memories of Mr. Jefferson's U (University of Virginia), where rugby was a way of life. So was lacrosse. That particular bumper sticker could be found on many bumpers in Charlottesville back then (early '70s). Another just as prevalent in the university parking lots was "It takes leather balls to play rugby." Yes, it does.

Those who say soccer is not popular or boring, need to get out a bit more. It is the most popular game on the planet. Just because he has less violence than "football" (ironic how it is called football and you don't touch the ball with your foot most of the time), and requires players to be actually fit, and smart, unlike thuggish basket ball, where one player can absolutely destroy the team or make them lose, baseball, as boring as it can be, with fat , nonathletic players with beer belly running around. The boring claims come from the crowd who find Golf and 300 rounds of NASCAR racing, or poker "exciting" and have no problems sitting in front of their TVs watching them. Also, most of the soccer fans love their country. Your problem is you think women soccer in the US and how pathetic they are is how soccer is. Watch more soccer (real name football) games, and you'll learn.

It seems as if every day we see another slew of headlines about the Delta variant and “resurgence” of the virus in this or that place. In reality, even some of these surges involve a number of new positive tests that are still vastly lower than during the height of the pandemic last winter. Still, there are cities that are bringing back mask mandates and complaining loudly about the slow vaccination rates. These complaints are being picked up in the liberal media, with the vast majority of the blame being cast at a predictable group: white, Republican Trump voters.

GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy may finally be fed up with the political machinations of Liz Cheney. Today, when asked about the situation involving Cheney joining forces with Nancy Pelosi for a January 6th select committee, McCarthy said he couldn’t remember the last time he had talked to her, and called her a “Pelosi Republican.” Apparently, he was also talking about Adam Kinzinger, but honestly, who cares? That represents another escalation between Cheney and the party she is ostensibly still a part of, and it appears clear that there’s no repairing this relationship.

On top of that, she said that because of the variant, they would be keeping restrictions in place on people who want to travel into the United States, claiming there was a surge among the “unvaccinated.” That’s infuriating the Europeans who want or need to travel here, and Americans who have family there who are unable to come here. The White House is taking that position — talking about once again restricting Americans and preventing legal travel into the United States

Both are sons of very famous fathers. Neither, in all likelihood, would have become prominent but for what their fathers accomplished. That’s certainly the case with Hunter Biden. Both are the subject of sex scandals, albeit of somewhat different sorts. Andrew Cuomo has been accused of sexual harassment by several women who worked in his administration. Yet Fauci continues to be a super-star on the left, largely because he represented a foil to Donald Trump, but also because he’s become even more overtly political under Joe Biden’s tenure. A number of countries are instituting, or proposing to institute, “vaccine passport” systems. This means, basically, that no one will be allowed to go out in public, or to enter most public places, without carrying a certificate of vaccination. Understandably, requiring everyone to have “papers” to engage in normal daily activities rubs many the wrong way. Thus, protests have broken out in several countries. Via the Epoch Times: France24 describes the protests in that country, attributing them for the most part to anti-vaccine conspiracy theories: Starting July 21, a health pass (pass sanitaire) will be needed to access any of France’s leisure and cultural venues
