Missouri Congresswoman Cori Bush sparked controversy on Sunday with a tweet in which she said Independence Day was only a holiday for white people.
'When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people,' she wrote. 'This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.' Bush, who was first elected to the House of Representatives in November, has been widely viewed as the newest member of the so-called 'Squad' of congresswomen known for being outspoken on their left-wing views, and she is no stranger to controversy.

When Catherine the Great of Russia traveled in the late 18th-century, her former lover, Grigory Potemkin, would travel ahead of her and build hasty facades along the main thoroughfares in impoverished, bedraggled villages to create the impression of a prosperous nation. Thus, a Potemkin village is a fake that artificially puffs up a leader’s competence and popularity. Two recent videos, one of Biden’s fans turning out to greet him in Michigan and another of Trump’s fans turning out for him in Florida, show that Biden is a Potemkin president. It’s all fake.

Several members of the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) turned away from the flag as a 98-year-old WWII veteran played the national anthem.
The incident occurred Monday, just before the USWNT took-on Mexico in their final tune-up before the Tokyo Olympics. A longer version of the video can be seen here: The veteran playing the harmonica is Pete DuPré, who has gained national notoriety playing the anthem at sporting events all over the country. The USWNT protest on Monday was not the first time U.S. athletes have snubbed the flag while qualifying for the Olympics. In late June, hammer thrower Gwen Berry also turned away

National Geographic posted an unhinged and unscientific tweet on Independence Day saying fireworks are racist because they affect communities of color. What complete BS. This is what can be described as “scientism” and NOT “science.” There is absolutely no proof to support this theory. In fact, in cities like St. Louis and New York City, minorities shoot off guns on New Year’s Eve and the 4th of July. This is much more dangerous than sniffing fireworks smoke for a night.

Black progressive lawmakers on Sunday questioned the inclusivity of the freedoms celebrated on Independence Day as the White House prepared for an evening of traditional festivities.
As Biden's White House readied fireworks and burgers for America's annual celebration of nationhood, progressives expressed their views on what the Fourth of July means from the Black American perspective.
"When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they're referring to is for white people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren't free," tweeted Missouri Rep. Cori Bush.

Rep. James Clyburn (D. S.C.) is the reason Joe Biden is president. (snip) Now, Clyburn, who is the majority whip in the House, is trying to convince all Americans that a voter registration card is “I.D.” (snip) The problem for Democrats is that, even as they denigrate minorities’ ability to get photo identification, most Americans think that photo I.D. is a good idea for election integrity (snip) Democratic Rep. Jim Clyburn says he's "absolutely" open to a voter ID requirement as long as it is "equitable:" "You ought to be able to vote with whatever ID that you have"

The Internal Revenue Service is facing a backlog of 35 million unprocessed tax returns, according to a government watchdog, as the pandemic and economic relief efforts combined to overwhelm the agency and force some people to spend hours chasing their overdue refunds. The National Taxpayer Advocate (NTA) submits two reports to Congress each year: an Annual Report, delivered in January, and an Objectives Report, delivered in June.In its most recent report, the NTA states: 'It was perhaps the most challenging filing season taxpayers, tax professionals, and the IRS have ever experienced.'One of their most important phone lines - the 1040 customer support lines for individual tax returns - reported that only

The New York Times off-lead story Monday by national political correspondent Alexander Burns was headlined, “U.S. Surges, But Politics Hold Firm – Partisanship Immune to Signs of Recovery.” But it may as well have been titled, “What Is Wrong With You Trump Voters?”
Flummoxed by Biden’s stubbornly so-so approval rating and continuing GOP strength, as shown in the 2020 elections, despite Biden’s apparently incredible achievements (like the pork-laden infrastructure bill?) Burns lashed out at Trump and his supporters with DNC-approved insults.
In another age, the events of this season would have been nearly certain to produce a major shift in American politics -- or at least a meaningful, discernible one.

Henry Winkler was caught in a Twitter controversy on Saturday after expressing the controversial opinion that it would take a cataclysmic event to unite a country divided by politics and social issues.
The Happy Days alum, 75, tweeted: 'We are [so] divided as a country .. only a cataclysmic [event], that makes us depend on one another again, can bring us back together.'
The New York City native faced a hailstorm of criticism pointing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the September 11, 2001 attack, and other major events to rebut the Emmy-winning actor's point of view.

The National Education Association, the largest teacher’s union in the United States, has approved a plan for Critical Race Theory to be implemented in all classrooms nationwide. The radical agenda was adopted after the 100th NEA Assembly, which was held at the Washington Convention Center and was livestreamed as a virtual meeting. Both President Joe Biden and Jill Biden spoke to the educators in a reportedly “mostly empty” hall in Washington. It was symbolic of the lack of public support for the hard left’s racially divisive agenda.Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and activist against Critical Race Theory, reported

While American troops were leaving their main military base in Afghanistan on Friday, China was already preparing to enter the war-torn country to fill the vacuum left by U.S. and NATO troops. Authorities in Kabul are considering extending a $62 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as part of China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).First launched in 2013 by Chinese president Xi Jinping, and written into the Chinese constitution in 2017, it is billed by Beijing officials as a global infrastructure development fund which aims to better connect China to the rest of the world. The Chinese entry comes amid threats from the Taliban to NATO to get out of Afghanistan
