Former House Speaker Paul Ryan plans to condemn the populist appeal of former President Donald Trump during a Thursday evening speech at the Reagan library.“If the conservative cause depends on the populist appeal of one personality, or on second-rate imitations, then we’re not going anywhere,” Ryan plans to say according to speech excerpts released to Punchbowl News.To win back the majority in Congress, Ryan will predict, Republicans need to focus on “conservative principles” and be agreeable.
“We win majorities by directing our loyalty and respect to voters, and by staying faithful to the conservative principles that unite us,” he plans to say.

Ryan wouldn't know a conservative principle if he fell over it. He has a lot of nerve even entering the Reagan Library and talking about a need to get away from a personality. If there was ever a personality that drove a party to greatness it was Reagan. What a fool Ryan truly is.

So says the lying RINO puke.
It shouldn't be long before John Boehner sobers up, or doesn't ever sober up, and agrees with him.
Liz Cheney and Paul Ryan must be related to each other.

When thousands stand in cold rainy weather for hours just to get a glimpse of the man. When he gets over 81 million (counting the fraudulently switched ones) legal votes from citizens, it is far more than just "populist appeal". Paul Ryan is a US Senator and a non-Democrat. He should have more sense than that.

He just doesn't get it -- we're not attracted to Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis because we are entranced by their personalities, we are attracted to them because they are giving a voice to the ideals and values that we hold dear. They are standing up for millions of people who have been consistently ignored, and times, even mocked, by the powers that be by the Democrat-Media-Big Tech complex. We're not blind followers of a Jim Jones personality -- we are God-fearing American Patriots who are tired of having our rights trampled and are demanding our leaders push back against an unconstitutional and ever-growing police state.

#13, you give him too much credit, he was never a senator, but was speaker of the house for a short time. I blame him for wasting Trump's first 2 years and not passing funding for the border wall when we had both houses and the WH. People were disgusted with RINOs and along with 40 plus retirements, the house was lost in the mid terms. He did so much damage to conservatism, how dare he criticize the only elected official that has never betrayed me. Thank you, President Trump! And GTH Paul RINO Ryan.

While President Trump was blunt and brash, he was more conservative than most thought he'd be, considering he was a long-time New Yorker.
Paul Ryan and the rest should realize 74,00,000 people voted for President Trump, and then figure out how to harness that, and expand on that base instead of constantly trying to appease the democrats.
Maybe see if you can help tone down some of the harsher rhetoric, but still advance the ideas and policies instead of looking to be part of the resistance.

Ryan has no supporters. By populist Ryan means the people. Ryan's support are the uniparty, all rich leftists, who dismiss ordinary working people as populists. I despise Ryan for what he did while Speaker. Ryan was and is an enemy to block what the people want. Ryan stays in the background. He is trying to walk out again, but it is not going to work. Go back to your hole.

“We win majorities by directing our loyalty and respect to voters, and by staying faithful to the conservative principles that unite us,”...
Who is this "we" Ryan claims to be speaking for? He never followed those principles as an elected representative, and as Speaker he utterly failed to support a President that we elected who did!
My level of interest in Ryan's opinion on any subject is zero, and I wish he would stay out of public life.

He’s not all that wrong despite the vitriolic comments here. Trump was the person in the right place at the right time because many voters were fed up with the geriatrics in Congress not listening to them. Those of us voted for Trump did so to shake up the DC establishment...and it worked. We have all seen the gly side of politics that few people ever see unless they are political junkies.
Going forward we need to remember that it is we the people that control the party and not a self anointed leader like Trump likes to portray himself. He can certainly have his opinion but we the party members have the final say in who we support and what the party stands for. If the party thinks Trump s the candidate in 2024 fine...but I for one do not want that to be a given.
I suspect Trump lost not because of the vote fraud conspiracy that is rampant but perhaps because enough people had enough of him and wanted a change. Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one,

Ryan is beyond despicable. Here is the problem. Ryan, not our accomplished, patriotic, America First, rightful President has sway with the GOP globalists. The party supports HIS views and elevates HIS opinions. He orchestrates the version of republicanism that is upheld on FNC. I am glad they seem to have shifted more to the right once ratings sank. However, wait till election time and they will push milquetoast and Bush, Inc. once again.

I stopped reading after the words "Paul Ryan". I was so impressed with his communication strengths, especially on explaining the US economic situation. I thought he had such great potential to be a future leader. Then, he tarnished himself badly when he did NOTHING to keep his promises of "on day 1, etc" referencing when the Republicans would have the House and White House. Such a waste of talent.

This slime ball was NEVER a conservative. Just one of the Open Borders Corruptocrats who got outed by Trump, and has lost his power and still angry.
This is perhaps Trump's greatest gift to us, that he has gotten so many hundreds, even thousands of fake conservatives, both politicians and commentators to expose themselves as the frauds that they are so that we can dump them and get on the path away from the Uniparty globalist, open boders thugs who had been fooling us for so long.
Anything bad happening to Mr. Ryan won't be nearly enough for all the evil that he has done.

If more so called Republicans had the guts of Trump, we wouldn't have to depend on one man for our voices to be heard. What conservatives want is plain and simple. Follow that formula and stick with it no matter what, and the Republican party will be bigger than anyone can imagine. Become democrat lite like so many Republicans appear to be, and the Republican party will either disappear, or morph into something else.
