Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) wants to end what is effectively legalized insider trading by members of Congress by barring them from trading individual stocks ever again. Warren first attempted to push through similar legislation with the Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act she introduced in 2018 and then again in 2020. Both bills unsurprisingly died in the Senate Finance Committee, which Warren sits on.

Something out of fauxcahantas that I can agree with.

John Treason Kerry was a senator who married Theresa, heir the Heinz Foods fortune. When John ran for President, Theresa told us that their money was none of our business. Same with John McCain and his wealthy wife. The old squaw, Warren, is incredibly ignorant if she believes those who cheat with insider trading won't figure out how to use extended family members to continue to cheat.

This is the one and only issue I agree with her. Too many representatives have gotten rich on insider trading while we, the great unwashed, would be thrown in the slammer for the same deeds

Not only that but make them subject to the same rules for insider trading as everybody, i.e. if they pass information to a relative or a friend they can be convicted of insider trading too.

This is a phony charade hinting at doing the right thing when in fact it only accomplishes a greater degree of deniability making real reform that much harder. If we are to have the republic envisioned by our founders where our representatives represent we the people we must make sure that they cannot be enriched by serving anything but our interests. If you want one of those 535 jobs you sign up to a lifetime of open books and forensic accounting for you and your immediate family. You perform a quid quo pro for a domestic entity you go to jail; you do so for a foreign entity you hang in public. We need successful people who have "made it" in the private sector to move on to serving their country without going broke in so doing, but not those seeking to make their fortune in positions of power lording over us.

Agree with #1. Our political class will find ways to work around this, and the Fake Indian knows that. The Democrats seem really desperate of late to do things that the American public would approve of. Problem is its all for show, and there is no real substance. Polls must be really bad for them what with Defund the Police and the Woke culture, the economy, the stolen election, and election 'reform'. Or they are trying to cover things up by creating distractions. They are even blaming COVID on China now.

This has a snow balls chance in Hell of passing in a form with any real teeth. They will massage it and finesse it into some meaningless garbage bill to save face. The foxes are not about ready to hand over their control of the hen house. It's a start but only just. Why can't they just be held to THE SAME LAWS everyone else is? You insider trade, you go to jail! You know like Martha Stewart who did her time.

For once and probably the only time I agree with Granny Lie-a-watha! If insider trading is illegal for us, then why not Congress? Or make it fair and let everyone trade on inside info!

I was a child of the Watergate generation. Vacationing at a lake house the summer I was 17, I spent weeks glued to the committee hearings on TV. Back in school that fall, I wrote a paper arguing that Nixon should resist pressure to resign. Headed south the next August, I watched Nixon’s resignation speech at a motor lodge on I-95 and the next day, on the highway, listened on the car radio as Gerald R. Ford declared “our long national nightmare” over.

The debate about recession risk is pointless. We are already in a recession. Real GDP (gross domestic product) in the United States declined at an annual rate of 1.6% in the first quarter. The Atlanta Fed Nowcast shows a 1.5% contraction in the second quarter. But the underlying figures are scarier. According to the Atlanta Fed, “the GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the second quarter of 2022 is -1.5% on July 15, down from -1.2% on July 8”. That is an enormous negative change, -0.3% of GDP, in one week.

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Beat,” Senate Majority Whip Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) responded to Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) inflation concerns on climate legislation by stating that climate is “an emergency” that “We have to do everything that we can” about, and this is “more important than any current economic statistics” like inflation. Host Ari Melber asked, “Is the global macro inflation a reason not to do something on climate right now? How do you work with your colleague there when sometimes his reasons don’t really match what’s happening?”

President Joe Biden called climate change an “emergency” during a Wednesday speech and vowed to use executive powers to bypass Congressional Republicans opposed to his sweeping agenda. “Since Congress is not acting as it should, and these guys here are, but we’re not getting any Republican votes, this is an emergency,” Biden said from the podium in Somerset, Mass., apparently gesturing at Democrats around him. The president stopped short of issuing a national climate emergency, but said he would use executive powers to address the issue. “As president I’ll use my executive powers to combat climate crisis in the absence of Congressional action,” Biden added.

Yesterday, most mainstream media outlets reported that a number of Democrat representatives — including "Squad“ members, were arrested outside the Supreme Court following protests against the Court's recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., a.k.a. AOC, was among those arrested for blocking traffic. Reps. Barbara Lee of California, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Cori Bush of Missouri, Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, Nydia Velazquez of New York, Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania, and Andy Levin of Michigan were among the other legislators arrested. The Capitol Police said they had arrested 35 people, including 17 members of Congress, for "crowding, obstructing or incommoding."

President Joe Biden indicated that he has cancer, during an alarming speech delivered on Wednesday to promote clean energy. The president spoke at the site of a shuttered coal plant in Massachusetts, vowing that one day, it would be the site of clean energy programs fueled by windmills off of the East coast. During his remarks about the dangers of pollution, he recalled how he grew up in Claymont, Delaware, not far from a host of oil refineries across the state line in Pennsylvania. He recalled how after the first frost, residents of Claymont had to turn on the windshield wipers to get the oil slick off the windshields

Long-time political strategist Dick Morris, formerly of the Clinton camp before coming to the light some years ago, penned a piece for Newsmax yesterday that predicted a 2016 rematch pitting twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton against former president – and America’s most popular politician – Donald Trump. Clinton just can’t give it a rest. She has rested her entire legacy on one day sitting in the Oval Office as this nation’s first female president. Of course, her party can’t define the term “woman” anymore, and then there’s the fact that she hates this country and most of the deplorables living in it.

Washington -The federal investigation into Hunter Biden's business activities is nearing a critical juncture as investigators weigh possible charges and prosecutors confront Justice Department guidelines to generally avoid bringing politically sensitive cases close to an election, according to people briefed on the matter. While no final decision has been made on whether to bring charges against President Joe Biden's son, sources say the probe has intensified in recent months along with discussions among Delaware-based prosecutors, investigators running the probe and officials at Justice Department headquarters. David Weiss, the US Attorney in Delaware, is leading the probe, which dates back to as early as 2018.

We've been saying for months now that Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is not likely to retain her seat when facing Harriet Hageman, a primary challenger backed by former President Donald Trump. What polls there have been indicate as much, as does CNN's Harry Enten. On Friday, what looks to be the most comprehensive poll yet was released, and it shows Cheney going down. The poll comes from the Casper-Star Tribune and was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy. Hageman has 52 percent support, while Rep. Cheney has 30 percent. No other candidate has more than 5 percent. Just 11 percent are undecided.

Elisjsha Dicken, the 22-year-old who saved countless lives on Sunday after neutralizing a mass shooter with his handgun, is by all sane measures a true hero in a country that desperately needs one. But since his heroic actions contradict the carefully-cultivated left-wing narrative, a number of prominent voices have immediately risen up to demonize the young man. Case in point: the majority of the hosts on ABC’s “The View,” whose considered opinion is that Dicken just got “very lucky,” and was probably as bad as the mass shooter since he “broke the law” when he carried his gun into the mall. It all started, naturally, with co-host Joy Behar,

President Joe Biden has suggested that Delaware pollution including "oil slicks" may have been responsible for cancer experienced by him and "so damn many" others. While delivering a speech about climate change in Somerset, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, Biden said that environmental pollution during his childhood was so rampant that people needed to wipe oil off of car windshields to be able to drive. The president suggested that the pollution was to blame for the skin cancer that he would later experience, saying that Delaware used to have the "highest cancer rate in the nation''. As the United States continues to come to grips with the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, I cannot stop thinking about how the court used a legal system built entirely by men to diminish women — once again — into nothing more than a vessel for producing babies. I am a rabbi in a legal system that excluded women for thousands of years, much like the legal system that the Supreme Court relied on in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. But unlike the American legal system, the Jewish tradition, in certain respects, including abortion, found a way to craft laws grounded in equal dignity for women.

Police say it took Elisjsha Dicken just 15 seconds to neutralize a man who opened fire on shoppers at an Indiana mall — quick action they believe saved countless lives. "The time lapse between the moment that Jonathan Sapirman exited the restroom and began shooting, and when he was shot by the civilian was only fifteen seconds, not two minutes," Greenwood Police Chief James Ison said Tuesday in a statement. "The surveillance video shows Sapirman exit the restroom at 5:56:48pm. He was neutralized by Dicken at 5:57:03 pm." The statement corrects a previous police timeline in which authorities said the incident lasted two minutes.
