Durbin: Climate 'Emergency' Is 'More Important
Than' Current Economy, Inflation

Original Article

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Beat,” Senate Majority Whip Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) responded to Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) inflation concerns on climate legislation by stating that climate is “an emergency” that “We have to do everything that we can” about, and this is “more important than any current economic statistics” like inflation. Host Ari Melber asked, “Is the global macro inflation a reason not to do something on climate right now? How do you work with your colleague there when sometimes his reasons don’t really match what’s happening?”

The only emergency is their desire to completely destroy the industrial sector of the economy. What is the nature of the evidence for the climate emergency? Oh yeah, it's summer and it's hot. Got it. In 4 months it will be winter and cold. Wow, I guess climate changes all through the year. That doesn't mean it's an emergency so they can start controlling more of anything that seems to be a threat.

Prove it, Dick, with facts. Insist you and all your fellow Congress persons will no longer fly private jets, even John Kerry. Joe and Jill need to stop flying to Delaware every weekend. Joe gives up riding in the Beast and starts riding in an electric car, or at least a smart car the size of a golf cart. If you’re going to talk the talk, walk the walk. You and the people you supposedly serve are equals. You are not above the rules you want to impose on others. I know that’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

Yes, the climate has been warmer this year. Temperatures on Mars have likewise increased, by about the same percentages as temperatures on Earth. This is because the principal reason for a warmer summer is that the Sun is going through a hot phase, with many explosive sunspots and solar flares, etc. So, there's nothing that Dick Durbin and the leftist woke politicians can do to change all this. Moreover, while the USA and Western Europe have been taking actions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions over the last 20 years and have been pretty successful in doing so, China, Russia, India and many other countries are increasing their emissions of carbon dioxide and many other "pollutants" exponentially, virtually overwhelming the reductions in the West. So now the dems want to run up inflation to what--20%? 30%? while spending our tax dollars on encouraging electric cars and student debt payoff giveaways?

Even if he's right (but he's not) it would years before the seas would rise high enough to make people move inland. In the meantime, the sky is falling and it's the Dems fault.

The dems climate emergency mentality is what has significantly added to the truly horrible economic situation we are in. They artificially choked off the production of oil and spiked prices. There is NO possibility that "green" energy and EVs can replace our fossil fuel driven economy, now or in the future. Given our scientific understanding, it is flat out impossible. Further, energy is a factor baked into the production of ALL products to some degree or another. Increased energy costs increase the cost of EVERYTHING. Secondly, the dems drumbeat is that fixing the climate is an "emergency". Few People believe that. Yes, most are concerned about the environment and would like to make wise choices to protect it. But as soon as you add any cost to the discussion, a significant majority do not want to spend much money "fixing" the environment. If people believed that we are facing a true climate emergency, they would accept the need to combat it by any means, including spending lots of money on it. The People remain unconvinced and more importantly UNPANICKED. Is there an emergency? Read "Apocalypses Never" and "Unsettled" and you will learn from REAL, honest scientists, that the science is FAR from settled and, given our state of knowledge and technology, will NOT BE anytime soon. Is the earth warming? Probably, at least a bit. Just as it has done in the past before humans could possibly have any influence. Here's a key question: How much of any warming is due to human activity. The truthful answer is, we don't know and the tools we have available are NOT ADAQUATE to tell us. The Earth's climate is so complex, it is currently, technically, IMPOSSIBLE to get a reliable answer to such questions. However, unlike the hysterical alarmists, the truth is that human activity is probably a minor player in any climate changes. That means that any attempts to "fix" climate by modifying human activity, even radically, is likely to have only minor effects. Another key question: Is climate change creating more severe storms or dangerous sea level changes? An honest assessment is that there are NO significant changes in storm strength or the rate of sea level rise so climate, including any effects of human activity, are NOT having any discernable effects. How can there be an emergency to act when we are uncertain about the levels of potential damage due to climate change that may or may not be happening? What can be "fixed" and why when we are uncertain about almost all the aspects of climate? How much warming? How much due to humans? Storms and sea level are not changing? Can even the most radical changes to human behavior have any significant impact? How can we know? Could we do further damage by doing the wrong things? If we exhaust our resources trying to "fix" essentially unbroken or unfixable things, what damage will result by not having the resources for other things that ARE fixable? Perhaps the most critical question: Do we have the knowledge and wisdom to act correctly? To this the answer is a resounding NO. The issue has become a political power play and will almost certainly be handled badly. The only real value of climate for dems is winning control because of the "emergency" and to place it above ALL other issues. If Brandon destroyed the economy to "save the planet", well, that's OK. The destruction to the economy that the dems have been desperately denying is now stunningly and painfully apparent. A significant majority of voters see it clearly and blame the dems. The only hope the dems have is to make it worthwhile, i.e. the climate emergency required us to do this. Frankly, the voters are not inclined to agree with this thinking and may even consider the dems dangerous for heading in this direction in the first place. The dems are desperate and playing the only cards they have. Desperation leads to poor policies, even if their is a problem to solve. In this case, the problem either doesn't exist, is unfixable by human action, and/or is not possible to understand at this point. No viable actions are possible. Nor can we even accurately declare an emergency.

Donald Trump watched his supporters storm the US Capitol on television while his senior staff begged him to call the rioters off, the January 6 committee has claimed. Democratic congresswoman and committee member Elaine Luria introduced a prime-time hearing on Thursday by saying the committee would present evidence to show Mr Trump failed to act while the attack unfolded. “This hearing is principally about what happened inside of the White House that afternoon, from the time when President Trump ended his speech until the moment when he finally told the mob to go home. A span of 187 minutes, more than three hours,” she said.

In an interview with the New York Times, Cheney alleged her alliance with Democrats on the partisan January 6 commission to attack Trump is not political but rather educational. “I don’t look at it through a political lens,” she claimed about her work on the committee. “I look at it through the angle of: People need to understand how dangerous he is and how unfit for office he is.” Cheney, who has received praise from Democrats for joining them in combatting Trump, is running behind in primary polls against Trump-endorsed opponent Harriet Hageman

Lucky for you, you’re probably not a neighbor of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, but if you were, your evenings would be punctuated by “loud and vulgar,” almost-nightly protests from abortion proponents shouting about the recent SCOTUS overturn of Roe v. Wade. The Washington Post went to the tony Washington, D.C. suburb of Chevy Chase, Md. to interview Kavanaugh’s neighbors, and although many in the predominantly liberal enclave refused to go on record, most of the ones who did were not pleased with the disruptions.

Elon Musk recently declaring that we need to move on from President Donald Trump is the latest example of chatter I have noticed lately on the news and conservative blogs about why we need to do an about-face to Governor Ron DeSantis as our presidential nominee in 2024. (Snip) First, I am a big Governor DeSantis fan. He is showing what strong state leadership looks like and how it is possible to constitutionally resist a tyrannical federal government. DeSantis has been a profile in courage, toughness, sensibility, and even love as he stands for the citizens of Florida. He is the living embodiment of a patriotic executive.

Did Joe Biden just announce he has cancer? After hiding out at the White House for 3 days, Joe Biden on Wednesday traveled to Brayton Point in Massachusetts where he will talk about his Marxist climate change agenda. About 20 chairs were laid out for Joe’s big speech… but he totally got 81 million votes in 2020.Biden struggled to read the teleprompter during his garbled speech and at one point it appeared he announced he has cancer. “And my mother drove us and rather than us being able to walk, and guess what?

On Wednesday’s broadcast of NBC’s “MTP Now,” Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) argued that Democrats should say that “we’re going to solve inflation with a climate bill” and that in Congress, “we need to be doing climate all of the time now” and that “every bill we do, whether it’s an appropriations bill or whether it’s a policy bill,” should have climate provisions because “we’ve reached a point where our climate is truly at a tipping point. We’re losing this battle and losing control of the weather.” Heinrich stated, “[I]t really is our addiction to fossil fuels that is driving the out-of-control frustration and inflation that our constituents are feeling.”

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg made an appearance on CNBC Wednesday morning and whined about Americans not wanting to give up their gas fueled vehicles for electric alternatives.  Worse, when asked about the dire consequences of the Biden administration's war on oil and gas, Buttigieg justified the potential for deaths as simply part of the transition to alternative energy. Meanwhile, electric vehicle owners are being warned not to charge their batteries during certain hours for fear of blackouts. "Tesla is asking its customers in Texas to avoid charging their electric vehicles during peak times in order to prevent overtaxing the state’s power grid.

Hunter Biden could reportedly be charged by the Justice Department for tax violations and lying to law enforcement about illegally purchasing a firearm, as the probe into President Joe Biden’s son comes to a head. Trump-appointed U.S. prosecutor David Weiss is deliberating whether to charge Hunter for “making a false statement in connection with Biden’s purchase of a firearm at a time he would have been prohibited from doing so because of his acknowledged struggles with drug addiction,” CNN reported Wednesday. As Breitbart News reported, Hunter may have lied on paperwork he submitted when purchasing a handgun in 2018 by not disclosing his drug additions.
