On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The Beat,” Senate Majority Whip Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) responded to Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) inflation concerns on climate legislation by stating that climate is “an emergency” that “We have to do everything that we can” about, and this is “more important than any current economic statistics” like inflation.
Host Ari Melber asked, “Is the global macro inflation a reason not to do something on climate right now? How do you work with your colleague there when sometimes his reasons don’t really match what’s happening?”

Politician love tackling problems that are 50 years in the future. Beats having to fix something that needs fixing now. Maybe they can work on the Invisible Racist Insurrection problem after that.

The only emergency is their desire to completely destroy the industrial sector of the economy. What is the nature of the evidence for the climate emergency? Oh yeah, it's summer and it's hot. Got it. In 4 months it will be winter and cold. Wow, I guess climate changes all through the year. That doesn't mean it's an emergency so they can start controlling more of anything that seems to be a threat.

Prove it, Dick, with facts. Insist you and all your fellow Congress persons will no longer fly private jets, even John Kerry. Joe and Jill need to stop flying to Delaware every weekend. Joe gives up riding in the Beast and starts riding in an electric car, or at least a smart car the size of a golf cart. If you’re going to talk the talk, walk the walk. You and the people you supposedly serve are equals. You are not above the rules you want to impose on others. I know that’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

Yes, the climate has been warmer this year. Temperatures on Mars have likewise increased, by about the same percentages as temperatures on Earth. This is because the principal reason for a warmer summer is that the Sun is going through a hot phase, with many explosive sunspots and solar flares, etc.
So, there's nothing that Dick Durbin and the leftist woke politicians can do to change all this.
Moreover, while the USA and Western Europe have been taking actions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions over the last 20 years and have been pretty successful in doing so, China, Russia, India and many other countries are increasing their emissions of carbon dioxide and many other "pollutants" exponentially, virtually overwhelming the reductions in the West.
So now the dems want to run up inflation to what--20%? 30%? while spending our tax dollars on encouraging electric cars and student debt payoff giveaways?

Detachment from reality is a symptom of Potomac Fever, and Dick and the D.C. Lifers, are terminal. How about actually going back to your home state and actually meeting with "real people?" Or are you scared to hear the truth?

Get off the crack pipe folks...it’s called weather, not climate. One summer back in Oklahoma in the ‘50s I saw 119 F on our thermometer. Hot Summers have been with us off and on for a long time. Deal with it. Windmills, Solar Panels, unicorns and pixie dust ain’t gonna budge the needle....but they will grind us into the dirt.

Durbin is merely trying to distract from the huge mess the Dems have created with their idiotic policies with fearmongering about an imaginary dragon. Even if he's right (but he's not) it would years before the seas would rise high enough to make people move inland. In the meantime, the sky is falling and it's the Dems fault.

But of course - - neither Deanna Durbin - - nor any other leftist scaremonger - - is ever asked to present the scientifically-gathered and statistically significant data which supports their hypothesis.
We all have to accept the "climate crisis" - - just because they say so.

The dems climate emergency mentality is what has significantly added to the truly horrible economic situation we are in. They artificially choked off the production of oil and spiked prices. There is NO possibility that "green" energy and EVs can replace our fossil fuel driven economy, now or in the future. Given our scientific understanding, it is flat out impossible. Further, energy is a factor baked into the production of ALL products to some degree or another. Increased energy costs increase the cost of EVERYTHING.
Secondly, the dems drumbeat is that fixing the climate is an "emergency". Few People believe that. Yes, most are concerned about the environment and would like to make wise choices to protect it. But as soon as you add any cost to the discussion, a significant majority do not want to spend much money "fixing" the environment. If people believed that we are facing a true climate emergency, they would accept the need to combat it by any means, including spending lots of money on it. The People remain unconvinced and more importantly UNPANICKED.
Is there an emergency? Read "Apocalypses Never" and "Unsettled" and you will learn from REAL, honest scientists, that the science is FAR from settled and, given our state of knowledge and technology, will NOT BE anytime soon. Is the earth warming? Probably, at least a bit. Just as it has done in the past before humans could possibly have any influence. Here's a key question: How much of any warming is due to human activity. The truthful answer is, we don't know and the tools we have available are NOT ADAQUATE to tell us. The Earth's climate is so complex, it is currently, technically, IMPOSSIBLE to get a reliable answer to such questions. However, unlike the hysterical alarmists, the truth is that human activity is probably a minor player in any climate changes. That means that any attempts to "fix" climate by modifying human activity, even radically, is likely to have only minor effects. Another key question: Is climate change creating more severe storms or dangerous sea level changes? An honest assessment is that there are NO significant changes in storm strength or the rate of sea level rise so climate, including any effects of human activity, are NOT having any discernable effects.
How can there be an emergency to act when we are uncertain about the levels of potential damage due to climate change that may or may not be happening? What can be "fixed" and why when we are uncertain about almost all the aspects of climate? How much warming? How much due to humans? Storms and sea level are not changing? Can even the most radical changes to human behavior have any significant impact? How can we know? Could we do further damage by doing the wrong things? If we exhaust our resources trying to "fix" essentially unbroken or unfixable things, what damage will result by not having the resources for other things that ARE fixable?
Perhaps the most critical question: Do we have the knowledge and wisdom to act correctly? To this the answer is a resounding NO. The issue has become a political power play and will almost certainly be handled badly.
The only real value of climate for dems is winning control because of the "emergency" and to place it above ALL other issues. If Brandon destroyed the economy to "save the planet", well, that's OK. The destruction to the economy that the dems have been desperately denying is now stunningly and painfully apparent. A significant majority of voters see it clearly and blame the dems. The only hope the dems have is to make it worthwhile, i.e. the climate emergency required us to do this. Frankly, the voters are not inclined to agree with this thinking and may even consider the dems dangerous for heading in this direction in the first place. The dems are desperate and playing the only cards they have. Desperation leads to poor policies, even if their is a problem to solve. In this case, the problem either doesn't exist, is unfixable by human action, and/or is not possible to understand at this point. No viable actions are possible. Nor can we even accurately declare an emergency.

Our very civilization, particularly non-life essential “nice to haves,” like leisure time and entertainment, depends on the exploitation of hydrocarbons, solid, liquid and gaseous. Low “carbon footprint” equates to low standard of living and mass starvation. Imposing draconian measures on the people by the ruling class in the name of “clean energy” is communism, and should be resisted In every way possible, including force of arms. It has come down to whether we face gun confiscation first or simply starving in the dark, while the communist elite fly in jets to Europe and marvel at how the masses allowed them to destroy Western Civilization.

Little Dick Durbin is Chicken Littling the "climate change" hoax again. When is this corrupt sawed off troll of a man and his fellow demwits going to learn. The American people with scruples i.e non democrat voters aren't buying the BRAVO SIERRA that they're selling on this issue. Not when China and India continue with their efforts burning evil fossil fuels to help power their nations. This is just another distraction while the idiot that they made president destroys our economy by going to war on the oil and gas industry. I just listened to a favorite Conservative YT host of mine and what the Biden regime is doing to hamper our energy sector is nothing short of criminal. All the while helping Russia and China. The senatorial troll from IL needs to shut up and go back under his bridge.
