Police say it took Elisjsha Dicken just 15 seconds to neutralize a man who opened fire on shoppers at an Indiana mall — quick action they believe saved countless lives.
"The time lapse between the moment that Jonathan Sapirman exited the restroom and began shooting, and when he was shot by the civilian was only fifteen seconds, not two minutes," Greenwood Police Chief James Ison said Tuesday in a statement. "The surveillance video shows Sapirman exit the restroom at 5:56:48pm. He was neutralized by Dicken at 5:57:03 pm."
The statement corrects a previous police timeline in which authorities said the incident lasted two minutes.

This shows how quickly a bad guy shooter can strike and kill. In 15 seconds three innocent people were killed, but thankfully the Good Samaritan was there and responded quickly and accurately killing the bad guy in those same 15 seconds. The Liberals suggesting we “wait for police to respond” would have been carried out in body bags. I wonder if there were people in the restroom who encountered him but took no action to subdue? Thank God for Mr. Dicken, what an amazing young man.

I have already seen a lefty trying to downplay Eli's action braying "He shot him in the back ... where is the Hero in that?" Of course I don't think anyone has seen the coroner's report wherein the entry wounds are described. And I am just as sure that the survivors of the incident are not concerned about where the entry wounds are.
Leftism is indeed a mental disorder.

I am from Greenwood, IN and live about two miles from the mall. Went by it today. Very sad what happened there but thankful for that young man. Anyone, anyone who thinks he is also a bad guy for having a gun does not deserve to breath. My hope, as sick as some might think it is, maybe one of these idiots will be around when a shooter is trying to have their way with a crowd of people. And when the shooter has them in their sights I expect them to face the shooter yelling "shoot me, shoot me" because it is the right thing for them to do. Taking one for the cause. Because they want as much collateral damage as possible. They want to bring forth the narrative that there are no gun laws that can be passed to keep you safe. Therefore, we need to take all guns away from Americans. These people who are berating this young man are sick.

I was floored when I saw a poster’s only comment was that Dicken should lose weight. We manage to have a few shallow drivebys on the board.
What a fine young man! Good Samaritan really doesn’t begin to cover what he did - getting his girlfriend under cover, shooting the killer,, getting others in the food court to exit behind him as he advanced on the klller. Try running all of that through your mind. Amazing. He is a true hero.

Well, dirtbag Sapirman got just fifteen seconds of fame instead of the usual fifteen minutes. Sick puppies like him think they’re going down in the history books for their evil deeds. The solution is to block their names and faces from public view so as future whackos will be less inspired.

I'm still not clear on the shooting distance between the perp and the hero.
I'm fairly proficient with pistols and rifles, and the 40 yard distance sounds impossible to me. The 40 foot distance sounds the most reasonable.
That is not to take away anything from the hero. He was shooting a semi-automatic pistol, which tends to ride up on each shot. He compensated for that. That was a super performance. And there is nothing wrong shooting a perp in the back, where the perp is armed. This was life, not Gunsmoke, with Marshal Dillon complying with the code of the Old West, which never existed.
Hero Dicken should hire himself out as a firearms trainer for police departments. He shoots way better than many police officers.
And, finally, I almost successfully avoided saying that Dicken shot the dickens out of the perp. But I couldn't help it.

I'm inclined to agree with #14, that 8 of 10 in 15 seconds with a handgun sounds far more realistic from 40 feet than from 40 yards. But with a very stable pillar to lean against, the latter certainly isn't impossible.
Either way.... nice shootin', Elisjsha.

Police Departments will be recruiting that “Good Samaritan” no matter what the idiots on the View and other liberal media claims.

Re #14, absolutely NOT "impossible", I can assure you. Moderately difficult, yes. I guarantee that I know 10 -15 people who could duplicate that shot, including me.
Difficult? Yes, rested against a pillar helps a LOT. Practice, practice, practice -- and at longer ranges. Most people expect to use a handgun at 5-10 yards, and only practice there. People should occasionally practice out to 50 yds with a handgun.

This is driving the left bat***t crazy. A competent, courageous white guy with a legal gun probably saved a dozen lives or more. They really can’t stand this destruction of their narrative.

Did the other two rounds go wide? High? Low?...I'm gonna guess the kid could tell us...he had a moment of 100% focus, where time slows downs, EVERY detail becomes distinct. Absolutely nothing on/in his mind but that front sight and his target. I'm gonna guess that when interviewed he will say he could SEE each bullet.

Re #14, from Indianapolis TV:
{Police Chief James] Ison explained to WRTV, Dicken’s first shot at the gunman was from 40-50 yards away and it appeared the very first shot hit the gunman.
Dicken was able to hit the gunman with additional rounds.

We have read numerous accounts of Dicken’s advancing on the murderer as he shot. also clearing others in the area to exit behind him.

Re: OP - I like your Dicken Drill but I respectfully recommend another training drill tactic, a fairly standard tactical team drill born of actual firefights with bad guys with guns, as I believe from your posts that you still make the time to train and have long held basic proficiency. On the command, “Up,” rather than seek cover, move deliberately but smoothly toward your target while shooting. It’s fairly tricky but has been proven to seriously shake up your opponent, causing panic and more than one bad guy’s weapon to be tossed into the dirt and hands raised in submission. Just remember, “smooth is fast” in actual combat. To stabilize your sight picture, I’ve found it ideal to borrow footwork movement from martial arts training, like Japanese karate and Korean Taekwondo, advancing with knees bent which aids in keeping your head from vertical movement and the extended firearm from “turret” like bouncing movements, making it easier to keep your front sight on target. For precision shots when the bad guy’s head is only around 5 percent exposed, behind cover or a hostage, you can make a brief “hang step,” allowing a fraction of a second to obtain a better sight picture.

I forsee a new training drill in my practice sessions, the "Dicken Drill". On the start signal, move to cover, and engage a single target at 40 yards with ten rounds, time limit 15 seconds. Minimum passing score: 8 hits. Practice until you can do it reliably. Well done, young man.
