Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, purchased between $1 million and $5 million of stock in a semiconductor company ahead of an upcoming vote on legislation containing $52 billion for chipmakers — the latest in a long history of similar purchases.

Comments:

The ability to buy stocks and then make the rules that they must work by, should not be allowed.

I am disgusted by all of these benefits obtained by position in this country. I just read another Lucianne article about Mandela Barnes and his campaign in state of Wisconsin. He is Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin and is also campaigning. People who are campaigning for a different position should forfeit the position they already have. Period. Not only is he racking in the money for his campaign, he is making a salary from the existing position. Too many conflicts of interest but, hey, it is the political way, I guess. We taxpayers have to foot the bill. I guess Paul and Nancy Pelosi can afford 14 refrigerators when they make 1 million here, 5 million there. All in the name of having one's palm greased. . .

She doesn’t own any stocks? I thought California was a community property state. If her husband owns something, so does she.

Financial analysts started advising people about over six months ago, that when Paulie P. buys a certain stock, they should look into buying that particular stock as well. So after watching my IRA take a dive over the last year, I decided to listen to some of these analysts, and invest a small amount of money. When the news that Paulie P. bought five million dollars worth of chip maker NVIDIA and with a bill to expand chip making in this country with 52 billion dollars, I pulled the trigger and bought some shares of NVIDIA. I'm glad I did. The stock since I purchased it has gone up by about sixteen dollars a share, and my IRA has started to recover. It may not be a long time hold. I'll sell if the stock starts to crater.

Nancy gave the excuse that she doesn't own the portfolio, and knows nothing about it. Really? California is a community property state, so she owns half the portfolio by law. The spouse owns the portfolio is a flat out lie.

And the media ignores it. Republicans and the media should be screaming loud and strong about this abuse. It should be exposed no matter if it is a democrat or republican. It is abuse of power and should be treated as such.

Somewhere in my reading this morning was a listing of stock purchases by DUI Paul which showed the percentage of returns on these purchases. I don't remember exactly but the return on this one purchase was 3,500%. Other percentages of return were quite nice but nothing like this one. Article said somehow people have found out what he buys and they go after the same stocks.

I was a child of the Watergate generation. Vacationing at a lake house the summer I was 17, I spent weeks glued to the committee hearings on TV. Back in school that fall, I wrote a paper arguing that Nixon should resist pressure to resign. Headed south the next August, I watched Nixon’s resignation speech at a motor lodge on I-95 and the next day, on the highway, listened on the car radio as Gerald R. Ford declared “our long national nightmare” over.

The debate about recession risk is pointless. We are already in a recession. Real GDP (gross domestic product) in the United States declined at an annual rate of 1.6% in the first quarter. The Atlanta Fed Nowcast shows a 1.5% contraction in the second quarter. But the underlying figures are scarier. According to the Atlanta Fed, “the GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the second quarter of 2022 is -1.5% on July 15, down from -1.2% on July 8”. That is an enormous negative change, -0.3% of GDP, in one week.

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) wants to end what is effectively legalized insider trading by members of Congress by barring them from trading individual stocks ever again. Warren first attempted to push through similar legislation with the Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act she introduced in 2018 and then again in 2020. Both bills unsurprisingly died in the Senate Finance Committee, which Warren sits on.

Donald Trump has plans to purge the so-called 'deep state' beyond what any president has done before if he runs for and wins the presidency in 2024 and as many as 50,000 government workers could find themselves on the chopping block. The former president, if elected again, would move in with a plan being drawn up now to 'drain the swamp' and cut tens of thousands of civil servants from what are typically apolitical roles, according to an Axios report.(Snip)The Trump official who came up with the Schedule F order said it could apply to as many as 50,000 of the some-two million federal workers.

It's going to be a long, hot summer — and I'm not just talking about the weather. Take a handful of hallucinogens, sedatives and edibles, wash them down with a healthy amount of your favorite liquor during a backyard barbecue with people you love, some you barely know and others you can't stand, and you'll approximate the political climate in the United States today on the eve of the midterm elections. The summer of 2022 is hot and furious. We are dealing with a world literally on fire due to climate change.

A Pennsylvania Democrat facing one of the toughest races in the midterm elections said she "might have to school" rural Trump voters in order to win their support. Rep. Susan Wild, D-Pa., is running for reelection in Pennsylvania's redrawn 7th congressional district, which now includes Republican-friendly Carbon County. During a virtual meet & greet on Monday, Wild said the Republican voters of Carbon County may need to be educated on the error of their ways. "Carbon County has many attributes, but it is a county that – although it was once an Obama county – it since has become a Trump county," she said.

DeSantis has been a profile in courage, toughness, sensibility, and even love as he stands for the citizens of Florida. He is the living embodiment of a patriotic executive.

The New York Times opinion section actually published a shocking project where eight of their columnists admitted they were wrong about either economics, tech, foreign affairs or politics. At the top of the list was none other than “transitory” inflation gaslighter Paul Krugman.  The Times’s economic columnist published an op-ed with a headline that didn’t beat around the bush – for a change – and acknowledged how bad his unrealistic takes on the inflation crisis were for the past year. “I Was Wrong About Inflation,” says the headline. The disgruntled economist actually conceded that Biden’s irresponsible $1.9 trillion stimulus package was inflationary, despite his earlier objections to the contrary.

Lucky for you, you’re probably not a neighbor of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, but if you were, your evenings would be punctuated by “loud and vulgar,” almost-nightly protests from abortion proponents shouting about the recent SCOTUS overturn of Roe v. I don't like talking about it," the official, who was unnamed for security purposes, told the committee. "But there were calls to say goodbye to family members, so on and so forth,"
