John Roberts, by foolishly allowing--on a 4-4 decision--the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to unconstitutionally rewrite Pennsylvania's election laws, has managed to maneuver the SCOTUS into a damned if you do, damned if you don't position. Half the states, with Texas at their head, are now calling the SCOTUS to account. No matter what the SCOTUS does at this point one half of the country will be angry and will claim they were cheated. While not everyone would have been happy had the SCOTUS dealt with the illegalities before the election, the Court would at least have had a better chance of convincing the nation that they were acting on constitutional principle.

The Falls Church School Board has voted to rename Thomas Jefferson Elementary School and George Mason High School. The vote was unanimous. The new names apparently haven’t been selected yet.
School Board chair Greg Anderson explained:
Our schools must be places where all students, staff, and community members feel safe, supported, and inspired.
In the early 1980s, I coached youth basketball games at George Mason High. All of the Black players on my teams felt inspired, the school’s name notwithstanding. One of them averaged 40 points per game.
None of the Black players on my teams felt unsafe or even uncomfortable at George Mason. If anyone felt uncomfortable,

On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Axios reporter Jonathan Swan panned Rep. SpaceX’s Starship prototype has exploded while attempting to land after its test launch from the company’s rocket facility in Boca Chica, Texas. Live video of Wednesday’s test showed the self-guided rocket landing at speed following a controlled descent before disappearing in a ball of flame.
Despite the catastrophic end to the six-and-a-half-minute test, SpaceX entrepreneur Elon Musk was thrilled. “Mars, here we come!!” he tweeted.
The Starship rocket destroyed in the accident was a 16-storey-tall prototype for the heavy-lift launch vehicle being developed by Musk’s private space company to carry humans and 100 tons of cargo on future missions to the moon and Mars.

For all of the (many) lawsuits that President Donald Trump and his supporters have filed challenging the 2020 election results, the new winner for hubris and cynicism may be the action that the state of Texas filed directly in the Supreme Court late Monday night, asking the justices to throw out the results in four (but only four) battleground states: Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. So far, 17 states have filed motions backing the Texas attorney general, and Trump has asked the Supreme Court to let him join the lawsuit, as well. After going quiet in the months before the election, federal authorities are now actively investigating the business dealings of Hunter Biden, a person with knowledge of the probe said. His father, President-elect Joe Biden, is not implicated.
Now that the election is over, the investigation is entering a new phase. Federal prosecutors in Delaware, working with the IRS Criminal Investigation agency and the FBI, are taking overt steps such as issuing subpoenas and seeking interviews, the person with knowledge said.
Activity in the investigation had gone covery in recent months due to Justice Department guidelines prohibiting overt actions that could affect an election, the person said.

The defining characteristic of the American ruling class is narcissism. The people in charge talk almost exclusively about themselves, about their limitless neuroses, their so-called privilege, their guilt about that privilege, their "identity." No matter what they're saying, it's always all about them. America's frame of reference has shrunk to the point where we can only see ourselves, and the rest of the world knows that -- especially China. China's leaders aren't frivolous and stupid like our leaders are. They don't care what pronouns you use. They don't hire people because of the way they look. Recipients of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine should abstain from alcohol for nearly two months before and after immunization, the head of Russia’s consumer safety watchdog said Tuesday.
Rospotrebnadzor head Anna Popova’s instructions follow Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova’s recommendations to avoid alcohol and immunosuppressants for 42 days because the two-shot vaccine is administered with a 21-day gap between doses. “The intake of alcohol needs to stop at least two weeks prior to immunization,” Popova said in an interview with Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda.
Recipients should then abstain from alcohol for “42 days after the first injection,” Popova added. “Immunity is being formed and one needs to take care.”

One of the amazing things we learned in 2020 is that the novel coronavirus can’t infect people who attend Black Lives Matter protests. Science!
Apparently the seasonal influenza is even more considerate, at least at Cornell University.
The Ivy League school offers a race-based exemption from its new mandatory flu shot, requiring only white students to get immunized before returning to the area.

Workers at an Upper Manhattan Chipotle restaurant say they’ve been fighting a losing battle against hordes of hungry rats — and a management team that let the infestation get so bad that four staffers have been bitten by the massive rodents. The besieged fast-casual Mexican joint on Broadway near West 169th Street in Washington Heights closed to customers indefinitely late last month, but only after rats chewed through the wiring of a computer system that handled orders, two employees told The Post.In the meantime, those workers are still going into the store to clean, in an effort to keep the vermin at bay.

Protesters outraged with at least a dozen arrests at a home where a family was removed in September hurled rocks at officers, sprayed a fire extinguisher at them and damaged police vehicles on Tuesday.
The violence happened in broad daylight, and by evening, Mayor Ted Wheeler sent out a statement saying he was authorizing Portland Police 'to use all lawful means to end the illegal occupation ... There will be no autonomous zone in Portland.'
'It's time for the encampment and occupation to end,' Wheeler said in a statement that also acknowledged the issues the protesters want to fix, such as housing and health care.

RUSH: Here is Blaine in Toledo, Ohio.(Snip)CALLER: I spent part of the morning reading partway through the Texas lawsuit,(Snip)RUSH:(Snip)Is this the lawsuit, State of Texas, they’re aiming to help Trump upend the results here.(Snip)CALLER: That is precisely the suit, and they have an excellent case. The fact that a state is suing other states means it goes directly to the Supreme Court. They don’t have to bother with anybody else. And they also, the suit is not relying on accusing individuals of fraud or cheating. Instead, it’s based on uncontested facts, which are these elected officials, usually the governors and their secretaries of state, altered the election laws
