Workers at an Upper Manhattan Chipotle restaurant say they’ve been fighting a losing battle against hordes of hungry rats — and a management team that let the infestation get so bad that four staffers have been bitten by the massive rodents. The besieged fast-casual Mexican joint on Broadway near West 169th Street in Washington Heights closed to customers indefinitely late last month, but only after rats chewed through the wiring of a computer system that handled orders, two employees told The Post.In the meantime, those workers are still going into the store to clean, in an effort to keep the vermin at bay.

I'd like a burrito bowl. Hold the rodent.

This seems appropriate considering it's de Blasio's sainted NYC.

It’s all part of the socialists’ plan; to turn NYC into a Venezuelan hellhole and then the good ‘ole USA.
Two years ago, after being gone a month, we found our property infested with rats. Our dogs went to work on those that got caught out in the open, but still there too many. Trapping wasn’t enough. Finally we used poison. After two weeks, no rats, except smelly dead ones trapped in nooks and crannies.
NYC; call me. After you dump DeBlasio & Co.

How does Chipotle stay in business? They even poisoned their customers too.

So, some of the rats in New York are actually real rats. Good to know.

Doesn't New York have a health Department that allegedly inspects places that serve food?
No way any health inspector could pass a joint like this.

Photo in article shows a rat larger than all but the big chunko cats.
Sad that they had to use "medieval" ways to kill these rats. (Like dropping boxes on them.)
Sad, too, that the parent company wouldn't close over the risks to their workers until the rats were gone.
Worst is that anyone eating the food at that Chipotle is eating food that rays have tasted, walked all over, defecated on and mated on.

Get the impression this happens in NYC more often than they will ever admit.
Deblasio and Cuomo probably see this as further justification to close all restaurants permanently (except the ones they use...how elitist of them). Have to protect the public don'tcha know.

Allow dogs into restaurants and bring on the rat terries. That, and bring in a couple of barnyard cats. They'll all work for free.

Knowing DeBlasio the rats of NYC are a symbol. I'm surprised there's not some bronze statue on a granite stand in Central Park celebrating the rodent. Maybe pick a street to paint Rat Lives Matter in the middle of town. After the human poisoning two years ago Chipotle's stock actually recovered in the stock market now this. The place in NYC will have to shutter after this for sure. Bring in some feral cats they'll exterminate them.

I've ordered at a Chipotle, but never eaten there. This is because in the group I was in, TWO of us found hairs in our food. I call the place "Home of the Hairy Burrito," but apparently, there are many, MANY other names I could call this poorly run, disgusting "restaurant."

This would be funny if it weren't so sad. I would wager that Chinatown does not have a rat problem.

Excellent question, #10. NYC does indeed have a health department that is financed by the taxpayers but restaurant owners also must "tip" the inspectors in cash if they want good results.

How awful for the employees. But I am not surprised this is happening in NYC. When decency leaves, evil fills the vacuum. We all know how nature hates that vacuum.
