Chicago Will Start Ticketing Motorists For
Going 6 MPH Over Speed Limit

Original Article

Here in Middle America, there are small towns where going a couple of miles per hour over the speed limit will get you stopped by the town’s lone police officer. These “speed traps” are dotted throughout the region as, many times, a significant portion of a town’s revenue comes from issuing these tickets. Now, the entire city of Chicago will become one, gigantic speed trap. Mayor Lori Lightfoot is going to rig traffic cameras to automatically issue tickets for residents going just 6 MPH over the posted speed limit.  Correction*

Comments:

Ah yes...need money, fleece the drivers...6 mph over? Ha...when I was running traffic I never even looked at anyone under 10 over..Lori Lightinthepants doesn't realize that you have to go over 6mph above the limit to get away from the rioters and car jackers in town.

Two points. That is why it is called a speed limit, it may not be nice and it might be mean, but too bad. Second point. This might cause the overworked Chicago police to pull over irate minorities who are armed and they may take offense. That will help the democrats intent on rioting after Trump wins in a massive landslide.

The frog-faced mayor will instruct the cops to only issue speeding tickets to the drive-by thugs and ignore their shooting of innocents. But if that's what the Chicago voters want, live (or die) with it.

Why not try to do something about those hundreds of murders every year? They could fine the killers much more than a traffic scofflaw. Take away their illegal guns and sell them, too.

(#6) Keep in mind the main purpose of the unrealistic speed limit is to generate revenue. The *grace* numbers of approx 10mph is added for discrepancies in speed measuring devices. I.E. I have a Mid 2000 Jeep. Always used the factory tires (that will change the reading). Using add on GPS the speedometer reads 50mph, GPS says 52, local cop buddy says 53. I'm not even going to start on my objections to unmanned 'automatic' speed cameras.

I got a question. When you get a ticket from a Chicago speed trap camera, who do you pay off? I know when a cop stops you, its usual practice to wrap your license and insurance insurance card in a $20 bill. Maybe its up to $40 now. Mike Ryoko used to tell the story of the Chicago cop who would deal with citizens unclear on the concept. "Sir, I clocked you 15 miles above the speed limit. License and registration please. " if the usual payment was not included , the cop would reappear and say, "Sir, I'm selling pencils today. They cost $10, $20, or $25 each. Would you like a $25 pencil. Thank you and drive safely."

They should not be in short supply. We got them outlawed in Texas, so we don't have to worry about a letter telling us we owe money. BTW, the courts might fill up with people protesting those cameras, since they seem to violate the confrontation clause of the constitution. ON a lighter note, maybe someone can "borrow Litghtfoot's tags and do some speeding as a service to the community.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed universal background check gun control Thursday, criminalizing private gun sales conducted apart from an FBI background check. The legislation, H.R. 8, sponsored by Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA), passed by a vote of 227 to 203. H.R. 8 would expand retail point-of-sale background checks so as to cover private points-of-sale. This will criminalize an individual who sells a 5-shot revolver to a lifelong neighbor, unless that neighbor first undergoes a National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) check, conducted by the FBI.

Gov. DeSantis Introduces ‘Anti-Mob’ Legislation To Allow Floridians To Shoot Rioters And Looters 20 replies

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has proposed an “anti-mob” bill that would allow residents to shoot rioters and looters who target businesses following nationwide unrest. The law would expand the state’s self-defense law, which currently forbids “the use of force in defense of property,” by increasing what constitutes a “forcible felony,” according to the Miami Herald. DeSantis seeks to make looting or “interruption or impairment” of a business such a felony, thereby justifying deadly force to prevent it, the local outlet reported.

We find that shelter-in-place orders had no detectable health benefits, only modest effects on behavior,
