The US National Football League is embroiled in a standoff with President Donald Trump after it said players would be allowed to “take the knee” during the American national anthem in protest against racism.
After the NFL announced its U-turn, Trump tweeted late on Friday night: “We should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with a salute, or a hand on heart. There are other things you can protest, but not our Great American Flag – NO KNEELING!”

Which means that Romney and the Bushes are just fine with the kneeling. Orange man hates it, must be good.

This is the NFL's way of enforcing social distancing in its stadiums -- permanently -- by alienating what's left of its already severely diminished fan base.

Where is the ghost of Pete Rozelle when you need him?
Sports use to be fun to watch. High paid people to play the game we all loved at a high level of competition.
All gone now. No reason to watch it anymore.

The left has ripped to shreds every institution that used to bind us together - family, schools, churches, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, community organizations. We can no longer trust the media or government agencies to tell us the truth. They have attacked the police, border patrol, the military. They have ripped the flag and toppled statues and rewritten history to cast shame on our national heroes. And now, the last institution where people still find community - sports. We are watching the deliberate dismantling of every tradition, every institution in America. We living through the death throes of western civilization. In some ways I agree with those who say, good riddance to the NFL, but I also know that is the goal of the leftists - to destroy everything.

No Kneeling will turn into No Watching. NFL has added another game to its regular season as well as 2 more playoff teams in order to pay for salaries that are approaching $1 Million per player per game. Diluting a product while increasing its price never increases sales.
What’s weird is that TV cameras will gleefully show these anti white protest by rich NFL players but will go to enormous lengths not to show cheerleaders. Racists yes, sexist no. Except for the must be attractive Airhead on the sidelines who adds to the endless babble of the jerk and jock in the booth.

These athletes apparently believe that the price for watching them play a game includes obscene salaries for them and compelling me to watch them disrespect and denigrate my country. Nope...not gonna do it. Period!

It looks like the NFL will be canceling their season. Not many people looking forward to all the arrows instructing them where to go, masks to wear, then forced to watch the player's political demonstrations, and restroom perfunctories in the end zone. Not a lot of people like to witness the abhorrent and the ugly.

No one is forced to buy tickets or watch on TV. The market will speak, the NFL either prosper or lose in the bargain. That's how it works. Yes, it's outrageous. The league has a labor problem - which in the real world would force them to "hire" more Asian and Hispanic players, not to mention females, to overcome the lack of diversity of a league far-overstocked with black talent. So, do what you think right. The "woke" NFL is.

I tire easily that it is always someone else's fault for poverty. Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, George Bush, Mitt Romney, Oprah Winfrey, and other elitists think it is America's fault. Yet, these people own property and assets beyond one's imagination but it is still always someone else's fault. How about they give up some of these properties and assets and share with the poor? How about Hollywood give up some of their properties and assets and share with the poor?
A lot of these people are corrupt (Mr. Ukraine Joe Biden) but, hey, we are being shown that they all stick together. Even Mitt Romney and George Bush. How about AOC? What a hypocrite - just as corrupt as Joe Biden. She can take her mantra of "defund the police" and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. I think I would like to start a "defund Congress" movement.
One more comment - the way George Bush has presented himself I would probably cry if I lost a son or daughter in any of those wars. What a back-stabbing individual. . .

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water. Let’s see if tv networks cover the kneeling in opening ceremonies. Looks like season ticket cancellations game boycotts and loss of swag sales are on the way. Im keeping my Cowboys tshirt in the dresser drawer until further notice.

If you're being paid a bazillion dollars because you can throw a ball (properly inflated of course) never mind kneeling. You should sit the F down and shut the F up and spend your money.

I had softened my stance last year because it seemed like the NFL was not allowing players to rub our faces with their disrespect of the flag. No more NFL football for me. I can watch any classic game I want to for free, and they were played before the current entitled, childish behavior of the players.

If the fewer people who watch NFL are from a more valuable demographic to advertisers, then this campaign will be a success.

I gave it up four years ago and walked away in disgust. The NFL and NBA are owned by social justice warriors I hope my real favorite baseball stays pure if it doesn't then college ball will be my entertainment.
I don't even know who the Super Bowl champions have been in the last four years nor do I care. I may be interested in the team that drafted the quarterback from LSU just to hear of his performance in the pros.

It's interesting that the President defending our historic love for the flag and what it stands for, is described as being "enraged." Yet, the rebellion against the flag and all it stands for - is the new patriotism.

Why can't they take a knee before the second half kickoff as a symbolic gesture against racism rather than associating it with the National Anthem and flag? This would still make a statement without disrespecting the people who actually understand how much progress America has made to provide equal opportunity for all, including the integration of sports at every level.

The NFL could say it is permitting players to kneel during the anthem; what their statement means to me is that they are permitting fans to run errands and do chores during the games. I stopped watching when CK7's pulled his piggy-police socks stunt and the Rams did their stupid "hands up don't shoot" game-entrance protest. Won't even waste my time following the season any more now.
