Democrats have been outraged at the lack of witnesses and documents in President Donald Trump's impeachment trial. In fact, they have continually beat the drum that in order for a trial to take place, witnesses must testify and documents must be produced. That would be fine and dandy, except it's up to the House to build the case – including obtaining documents and subpoenaing witnesses – before it makes it to the Senate. The Senate is responsible for hearing the case the House put together.

A bus carrying Covington Catholic students who attended the March for Life in DC was involved in a deadly crash on Saturday morning.
One of the mothers of a student who was involved in the viral incident between students and a Native American activist last year told the Gateway Pundit that the bus carrying the students was hit head on. She said that a teacher was injured, a student had a bloody nose and the driver of the other vehicle died.
None of the students were seriously injured, but the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name has not yet been publicly released.

Fifteen people died from coronavirus in Wuhan, China on Friday, bringing the death toll to 41 people, Chinese officials said in a statement online. The Committee to Defend the President—one of America’s largest pro-Trump super PACs—is running a new billboard in New York City, criticizing Democrat candidate Joe Biden over the Ukraine scandal.

A Mexican woman who was the reported leader of a human-smuggling ring was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison, authorities said.
Brenda Yadira Gamez-Castaneda, 41, known as “Guera La Trailera," was handed the sentence in a South Texas courtroom for her role in conspiring to transport undocumented immigrants into the United States, the Justice Department said.
She also received a 24-month sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after having been deported. It will run concurrently with the 10-year bid. U.S. District Judge Micaela Alvarez noted that Castaneda destroyed evidence and demanded others to do the same and instructed a co-defendant what to tell investigators.
The warden in charge when Jeffrey Epstein died in his jail cell is getting a cushy new supervisor's job at 'Club Fed' despite Attorney General Bill Barr's demand that he be reassigned to a desk job. Lamine N'Diaye is being reassigned to a leadership role at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security prison in Burlington County, New Jersey, two people familiar with the matter said. The move comes months after Barr ordered N'Diaye be reassigned to a desk post at the Bureau of Prisons' regional office in Pennsylvania after Epstein's death as the FBI and the Justice Department's inspector general investigated.
A North Carolina animal shelter says it has received over 100 applications to adopt a mean pet, after they used some brutal honesty in an ad to adopt out what it is calling the "World's Worst Cat." The shelter says it has received so many calls and messages that it is asking people to be patient while they try to get back to everyone. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is prepared to go to court with two "sanctuary cities," Denver, Colorado, and New York City, if they fail to provide personal information on illegal immigrants with criminal records released in each city instead of being transferred to ICE.
“We expect them to comply" with subpoenas for the information, said acting ICE Director Matt Albence at a press conference in Washington on Thursday.
"If they don’t comply, we’ll be working with DOJ to go to district court to force them to comply with the requirements,” Albence said, noting the rule in the U.S. Code that he said justified the move.

House impeachment manager Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) accused President Donald Trump of a “cover up” on Friday because of the way the administration handled the transcript of his July 25 telephone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Jeffries sketched a vague conspiracy theory, in which he suggested that unnamed senior White House officials had tried to hide the transcript of the Ukraine call on a secure sever for nefarious political reasons.
The strategy the House impeachment managers are employing as they "make their case," has become apparent, and if not countered, Republicans may win the battle but lose the war.
The Laurel & Hardy of the House (Adam Schiff and Jerrold Nadler, assuming that the original comedy duo were hopelessly corrupt and wholly untethered to honesty) tell us of the existence of "overwhelming evidence" for crimes like bribery, extortion, and various solicitations of felonious behavior (and more!), proceeding to characterize the ordinary conduct of the president's constitutional prerogatives as proof of their allegations.
And then there was no one.
Sane, that is. In the Democratic Party.
(Or awake, if they were trying to watch the Democrat impeachment managers in their monotonous assault on President Trump.)
Having just conducted a sham trial in the House, Democrats pre-emptively accused Senate Republicans of plotting a "sham" trial. After refusing to let the president's lawyers testify or even be given the courtesy of a recap of the day's testimony, they demanded the power to select witnesses in the Senate. After hiding selected testimony and facts, they now, pre-emptively, accuse their Senate colleagues of doing the same.
As if Democrats didn't screw the impeachment pooch for themselves earlier by having a House case so weak they had to ask the Senate to call their witnesses for them, and then presenting long, long, long-winded opening arguments that sent scores of Senate jurors fleeing the room, they have some hella bizarre logic in finishing out their case: Insult the jurors.
That's some persuasion strategy.

“America has an abiding interest in stemming Russian expansionism and resisting any nation’s efforts to remake the map of Europe by dint of military force, even as we have tens of thousands of troops stationed there,” Rep. Adam Schiff said in the Democrats' opening statement during the Senate impeachment trial. “Moreover, as one witness put it during our impeachment inquiry, the United States aids Ukraine and her people so that we can fight Russia over there and we don’t have to fight Russia here.”
Schiff did not elaborate on how providing lethal aid to Ukraine would prevent a Russian Red Dawn-style invasion of America, although we don't expect one soon.

Rep. Adam B. Schiff arrived in the Senate this week as an impeachment trial manager, leaving the House with a trail of inaccuracies, conspiracy theories and attempts at obstruction, the record shows.
Liberal media have bathed the California Democrat in praise. A CNN analyst called him “dazzling.” A Washington Post reporter tweeted that his trial argument to convict President Trump was one for the ages. Conservatives take a decidedly different view. They wonder on social media why a congressman who floated unproven conspiracies and a false dossier is leading the case against Mr. Trump, and they ask why the liberal media are so uncritical.
On Thursday, constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) had made a "huge blunder" by insulting the senators who would decide whether or not to convict President Donald Trump. In a follow-up op-ed on Friday, he advised the House Democratic impeachment managers to accept that their case was essentially dead on arrival and to slice their articles of impeachment in half. Only by dropping the "obstruction of Congress" impeachment article can they hope to get the Senate to agree to have witnesses in the trial for the "abuse of power" article.

The latest impeachment related story — a non-story in my view — is about a tape recording in which President Trump (according to reports) instructed associates to fire Marie Yovanovitch, the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine. The recording apparently was made at a dinner party in April 2018 by Igor Fruman, one of Rudy Giuliani’s main Ukraine operatives (along with Lev Parnas).
Yovanovitch wasn’t fired until May 2019. Thus, there is less to this story than meets the eye.
Nor did much meet the eye to begin with. According to reports, Trump demanded that Yovanovitch be fired after he heard she was bad mouthing the president in Ukraine.
President Donald Trump has succeeded because he has a sense of what normal folks believe about a range of issues. In one area, however, he has gone seriously awry. He constantly subordinates American interests and values to Saudi Arabia, a brutally repressive and aggressive regime that has promoted Islamism and enabled terrorism worldwide.
Most recently, the president claimed that Riyadh had “already deposited $1 billion in the bank” for American forces deployed to protect the royals. Other officials said that $500 million so far had been paid. Mustafa al-Imam, a 47-year-old Libyan, has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for his role in the Benghazi attack that killed four Americans: Mustafa al-Imam, 47, was sentenced to 236 months after being convicted by a jury in June on charges of conspiracy to provide material support and resources to terrorists and maliciously destroying and injuring a dwelling and placing lives in jeopardy, the Justice Department said.
But al-Imam was not convicted of other counts, which included allegations of killing a person while attacking a federal facility.
I remember having an argument with the mother of a young girl during the 2016 election. She thought even a symbolic victory would be an important victory, because it was important for her daughter to have a woman president to look up to. “I want her to see a woman president,” she said, “to help her believe that she could become a president herself.” It’s an oft-touted argument for representation: children need role models – successful people of their own gender or race – in order to become successful in adulthood.

The governor of Oklahoma has banned all state-funded travel to California after officials there placed a similar ban on travel to his state.
Oklahoma’s Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt, who is in his first term, announced the ban in an executive order on Thursday, barring all non-essential travel by state employees to the Golden State, with exceptions for business recruiting trips, college sports games and trips by schools to participate in out-of-state programs. “Enough is enough,” Stitt said. “If California’s elected officials don’t want public employees traveling to Oklahoma, I am eager to return the gesture on behalf of Oklahoma’s pro-life stance.”

With Bernie Sanders tied up in Washington at President Trump's Senate impeachment trial, a couple of his high-profie supporters filled in for him Friday at a campaign rally in Iowa.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and liberal filmmaker Michael Moore shared the duties for the 2020 presidential candidate in Iowa City. But in her speech closing out the event, Ocasio-Cortez -- who first endorsed Sanders back in October -- never once mentioned his name.
The Iowa rally -- in the home city of the University of Iowa -- was held one day after Sanders faced backlash from many Democrats after tweeting support for controversial podcast host Joe Rogan.
Lead impeachment manager Rep. Adam Schiff left several Republican senators incensed in the closing moments of the third and final day of the Democrats' opening arguments.
Schiff, who received plaudits from Democrats and Republicans alike for his delivery in the first couple days of the Senate impeachment trial against President Trump, stirred outrage Friday evening when he repeated a CBS News report citing an unnamed Trump source who said GOP senators were warned not to vote against the commander in chief.
