The March for Life Is a March for Truth

Pro-lifers are marching today, as they do every year, to commemorate a great evil that was done in January 1973 and to express solidarity with its innocent victims. The Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade eliminated legal protections for unborn children in all 50 states, and did so without any justification in the text, original understanding, or history of the Constitution. Since that time, more than 60 million have perished in abortions. When the Supreme Court issued its diktat, the New York Times called it a “historic resolution of a fiercely controversial issue.” It is to the great credit of pro-lifers that they refused to let the issue

FTA: "Republican presidents and senators, including President Trump and Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, have advanced that work a great deal...." "Including"? Try again, NR. President Trump has done more in less time for pro-life than anyone thought likely or possible. He has visibly and fearlessly led on this issue like no other Republican I've ever seen. His Vice President, Mike Pence, previously became the first to address the rally while still in office. Ably assisted by Senator McConnell, Trump is relentlessly reshaping the judicial landscape where this battle has been fought and lost in the past. Now President Trump has addressed the march in person, something no other president has done. Imagine the NR headlines if President Reagan had done that. They would have rightly hailed his historic political courage and leadership. Instead, here's what NR went with yesterday at noon: "The March for Life Isn’t about Trump." You can read the rest here: Now imagine the headlines if Hillary Clinton had been elected president, something that NR did everything it could to cause. The march would have marginalized, the media would have ignored it, and the judiciary would have been lost for a generation. And another generation would have been lost. Whatever the March for Life means to the editors at NR, the march for truth has long since marched on, leaving them far behind.

The left has paved the way in recent years by establishing "Sanctuary" zones in defiance of laws they don't care to follow. Would it not be surprising to see states and counties follow their lead by establishing "Life Sanctuary" zones?

Never forget that God knows the name and the frame of every single one of the sixty million people murdered by their own mothers. Are the ''editors'' trying to do a little bit of hand washing? I think William F. Buckley, from whom they take their name, is still ''spinning in his grave.''

Waiting for an overdue and forceful (in every sense) repair to the LIE that enabled this abomination. Tha LIE is that the decrees of a judge or klavern of judges at any level have the innate power to "make new law" via their decrees, and to use those frequently wrong decrees as the firm basis for yet more decrees, all effectively beyond the reach of the citizens or other arms of government. Abortion is nowhere mentioned in the Constitution, yet that gaggle at SCOTUS, notably including Potter Stewart (who case-shopped the issue) maintained otherwise. Unless and until the entire judiciary, certainly to include federal judges at all levels, are slapped down hard, and Originalism returns, we are effectively ruled by dishonest self-aggrandizing loyalists. Something never supported in our Constitution. With, as here, a hideous and growing death count.

Here's the ugly truth! If anything grows and changes shape ... it is alive. The fact that a baby needs food from his/her mother to reach birth and leave the womb is no different than an acorn needing water, nutrients and sunlight to grow into an oak. It is this splitting and growing of the cells that proves it is alive. You don't have to be religious in any way to know that the aborted baby ... sorry, "fetus" ... is clearly living. That is, until you kill it. Then it stops living. Period. Those who have faith believe that we are NOT humans (whatever that may mean) with "souls". No, instead, we are ALL immortal souls temporarily trapped in finite bodies for a set time. Bodies that will age and die, as they should. The soul ... your soul ... is infinite and immortal and thus part of the Godhead. It also means that God ... the Creator of all things ... knew us (our souls) before He placed us (part of Himself) into "bodies" and put us down here for awhile. Whether you are a day after conception or 120 years old, you have the same soul. It hasn't changed or aged in any way. Thus, the biblical admonition "... what God has joined together let no man pull asunder..." clearly refers to the BABY --- not just the marriage! Lastly, scientists claim humans of superior intellects and ability occur in only one out of every 400 births but true "genius" comes only once in 10,000 births. That means we, as a society, have aborted 150,000 really bright people and 6,000 potential Albert Einsteins in the last 47 years. Sad.

Why Republicans Won’t Desert

The Democrats are clearly frustrated by their failure to convince congressional Republicans that President Trump has committed any act approaching an impeachable offense. This was made plain when House managers Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) resorted to the bizarre and self-defeating tactic of insulting the integrity of the very Senators who will ultimately decide the President’s fate. The Democrats obviously believed their relentless attacks on all things Trump, combined with impeachment, would eventually cause Republicans to abandon him just as they did President Nixon in 1974. Instead, their three-year smear campaign has only strengthened the President’s support among Republicans in both houses of Congress. Why?

Joe Biden doesn’t sound very moderate when he says there is “no room for compromise” on “transgender equality.” It is the “civil rights issue of our time,” he tweeted last week, elevating it above women’s equality, racial equality, and even climate “justice,” an issue he once told us was an “existential threat.” The tweet was rather baffling, other than as an exercise in identity pandering. Maybe Biden thought he could win over a segment of the 0.3 percent transgender voters who are irate that Bernie Sanders accepted an endorsement from libertarian podcaster and pronoun purist Joe Rogan.

Democrats are really gonna do this, huh? I’m imagining Barack Obama looking at these new polling numbers and contemplating his legacy: A wipeout of Democrats in federal and state races by 2016, the election of a Republican president whom O himself allegedly describes as a “fascist,” and the increasing likelihood that his own party will choose an out-and-out socialist as its next nominee. In time, the Obama/Romney contest of 2012 may come to be seen as the last non-“European” election America had for many years. The well-respected NYT/Siena poll finds that everything’s coming up Bernie in Iowa:

The U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad was hit by multiple rockets on Sunday, two U.S. officials told ABC News. This is the first time the compound has been hit directly in years and comes just weeks after pro-Iranian militia members and their supporters assaulted the compound in Iraq. Rocket attacks on the Green Zone are very common. Last week three rockets were fired into Baghdad's Green Zone, the heavily fortified area of the capital that houses the embassy, government buildings and U.S. service members. Iraqi officials said Monday that there were no injuries.

No one can deny that the United States is facing a student debt crisis. With more than $1.6 trillion in outstanding student loan debt, tens of millions of Americans are forced to pay huge sums of money every month – this writer included – to private and government lenders, slowing down growth in other important areas of the economy, like the housing industry. As usual, Democrats’ plans to fix this important problem is to throw even more money at it and give greater power to the very same government agents and politicians that messed the system up in the first place.

The Trump administration is at it again. To hear New York Times reporter Coral Davenport tell it, this White House is engaged in yet another nihilistic assault on the environment. This week, the administration “finalized a rule to strip away environmental protections for streams, wetlands, and groundwater,” the Times notes. (Snip)In May 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency unilaterally announced its intention to expand its capacity to regulate navigable waterways and their tributaries. This new rule allowed the agency to block the development of privately owned lands with a “significant nexus” to a waterway, a definition so expansive it included streams that ran only seasonally or underground, bone-dry 100-year floodplains,

A lunchtime town meeting in the college town of Ames, home to Iowa State, should attract a sizable crowd less than two weeks before the Iowa caucuses—especially when a former vice president, who is leading in some of the recent Iowa polls, headlines the event. But Joe Biden is perhaps the most confounding candidate in this Democratic race. By my charitable count, only 250 would-be caucus-goers attended his event in Ames on Tuesday. They were treated to such Biden staples as a paean to dead senators he once worked with: Iowa’s John Culver died in 2018, Ted Kennedy in 2009, and Tom Eagleton in 2007.

Jerry Nadler must have missed the day in law school where they teach you about persuasion. The House Democrat made a critical error early in the trial of President Trump. He didn't just say that Republican senators, who voted to begin the proceedings without calling witnesses, were part of a cover up. He said they had committed treason: "So far, I'm sad to say, I see a lot of senators voting for a coverup. Voting to deny witnesses and obviously a treacherous vote. A vote against honest consideration of the evidence against the president. A vote against an honest trial. A vote against the United States." Easy, Tiger. All Republicans did

Rep. Adam B. Schiff arrived in the Senate this week as an impeachment trial manager, leaving the House with a trail of inaccuracies, conspiracy theories and attempts at obstruction, the record shows. Liberal media have bathed the California Democrat in praise. A CNN analyst called him “dazzling.” A Washington Post reporter tweeted that his trial argument to convict President Trump was one for the ages. Conservatives take a decidedly different view. They wonder on social media why a congressman who floated unproven conspiracies and a false dossier is leading the case against Mr. Trump, and they ask why the liberal media are so uncritical.

I remember having an argument with the mother of a young girl during the 2016 election. She thought even a symbolic victory would be an important victory, because it was important for her daughter to have a woman president to look up to. “I want her to see a woman president,” she said, “to help her believe that she could become a president herself.” It’s an oft-touted argument for representation: children need role models – successful people of their own gender or race – in order to become successful in adulthood.

Hillary Clinton promised in 2016 that she would make history, and she did. She lost a winnable election where she enjoyed every conceivable advantage over her opponent, including a roughly 2-to-1 edge in campaign spending. Clinton then went on to become the first failed nominee in modern American history who cannot manage to move on. John McCain returned to the Senate after his loss in 2008 to Barack Obama. John Kerry similarly went back to work in the Senate after the 2004 election and later joined Obama's administration. Al Gore still complains about losing in 2000 to George W. Bush,

Democrats are pushing back at GOP backlash over a controversial line in House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s (D-Calif.) closing statement in Friday night's impeachment trial arguments. Schiff sparked an audible reaction from Republicans when he referenced a CBS News report that cited an anonymous Trump confidant saying GOP senators' heads would be “on a pike” if they opposed President Trump on impeachment. Republicans — including Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Susan Collins (Maine) — quickly distanced themselves, with Collins overheard repeatedly saying "that’s not true" and Murkowski saying Schiff "overreached."
