Democrats are trying to impeach President
Trump, wayward voters, and democracy

And then there was no one. Sane, that is. In the Democratic Party. (Or awake, if they were trying to watch the Democrat impeachment managers in their monotonous assault on President Trump.) Having just conducted a sham trial in the House, Democrats pre-emptively accused Senate Republicans of plotting a "sham" trial. After refusing to let the president's lawyers testify or even be given the courtesy of a recap of the day's testimony, they demanded the power to select witnesses in the Senate. After hiding selected testimony and facts, they now, pre-emptively, accuse their Senate colleagues of doing the same.

An Animal rescue service in Georgia says a good Samaritan last week spotted a mama dog dragging a crate filled with her pups on the side of the road. The mama dog was tied to the crate with a blue belt, while her four puppies were crammed inside, Savannah’s WTOC 11 reported. “This was a new one. New things happen all the time,” said Marianna Hagan, director of the McIntosh County Animal Services. “I’ve never had a dog pulling a crate full of puppies down the road before.” [tweet] A father and son had spotted the mama dog dragging the crate in Townsend, a community near Georgia’s east coast,

Senate GOP leaders are mulling a quick end to the impeachment trial if the vote to call witnesses fails. Politico is reporting that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell may use some procedural moves to bring an end to debate and vote for Trump's acquittal. If, as expected, the vote to call witnesses fails and Democrats are unable to introduce more evidence or depose more witnesses, the vote to acquit could come as early as Friday, says Senator Tim Barrasso. “The question is going to come to ‘Have you heard enough to make a decision or do you want witnesses?’ If people say, ‘We’re ready to vote,’ we’re going to vote right then,”

While presenting the Democrats' case for impeachment on the Senate floor, lead impeachment manager Adam Schiff (D-CA) kept referencing 17 witnesses who testified during the House impeachment inquiry. But there were 18 of them. Schiff and the Democrats are refusing to release the testimony of Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson, and according to Republicans who were present during Atkinson's closed-door testimony, the reason the transcript hasn't been released is because it proves both the whistleblower and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff did not tell the truth about their contact with each other.

Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg plans to spend his remaining Iowa campaign days focusing on areas that supported President Donald Trump in 2016, in an attempt to win them back to the Democrat party. In a memo to reporters, a Buttigieg staffer explained that the former South Bend mayor would focus on counties that voted for Trump in 2016, but also supported former President Barack Obama in 2012. “In order to win in 2020, Democrats need to nominate a candidate that can build a broad coalition and win back some of those voters,” the memo read,

His wife, a hero of sorts only in the TV series “Suits,” had hightailed it to Canada, leaving Harry Windsor, formerly known as Prince Harry, to deliver a concession speech. Make no mistake—no matter the moola they rake in, Harry and Meghan Markle have been sorely defeated and deflated. Gallantly has Harry tried since to make his subjects believe that it is he, not Meghan Markle—his meddlesome, divisive, American wife—who had attempted, and failed miserably, to outsmart Queen Elizabeth II. But the crass and callous rollout production, lacking in etiquette and contemptuous of royal protocol, fell flat. So deeply silly was the Sussexes’ Instagram statement,

Twenty-four hours of Democrats lies and bloviating was a bridge too far. Democrats lost their audience… literally. Even the Senate gallery was half-empty — FOR AN IMPEACHMENT! The Daily Mail reported: The Senate spectator gallery was unexpectedly half-empty throughout the first week of President Donald Trump’s historic impeachment trial. The Senate trial began on January 16 after Trump was impeached in the House on two articles stemming from accusations that he withheld military aid money from US ally Ukraine until they conducted an investigation into presidential hopeful Joe Biden. Republican Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma told New York Post: ‘I’m really surprised at that because this is kind of historic

Serial liar Adam Schiff laughably claimed on Saturday that he doesn’t even know who the whistleblower is. President Trump’s defense team completely destroyed 3 days’ of Adam Schiff’s lies in just two hours. GOP Senator John Barrasso said Schiff was so freaked out when Trump’s lawyers confronted him about his fake call and transcript that “the blood drained from Schiff’s face.“ The lashing was so bad that even CNN admitted President Trump is winning in the impeachment trial. Schiff, Nadler and other House impeachment managers looked defeated as they gathered around the lectern to respond to Trump’s lawyers and take questions from reporters.

Democrats have been outraged at the lack of witnesses and documents in President Donald Trump's impeachment trial. In fact, they have continually beat the drum that in order for a trial to take place, witnesses must testify and documents must be produced. That would be fine and dandy, except it's up to the House to build the case – including obtaining documents and subpoenaing witnesses – before it makes it to the Senate. The Senate is responsible for hearing the case the House put together. Democrats were so quick to rush through the impeachment process, in hopes of getting this done before Christmas,

Saturday during an appearance on the Fox News Channel following the day’s proceedings of the White House presenting a case in the Senate against impeachment, Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) offered his reaction. According to Barrasso, Schiff was the big loser of the day, given his willingness to exaggerate specific details of the case. “Now we are starting to hear the rest of the story,” Barrasso said. “What we see coming out is evidence I think undermined the Democrat case and undermined Congressman Schiff’s credibility. I think he lost credibility significantly this morning as the evidence was presented.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., won a key endorsement Saturday when Iowa’s largest newspaper announced that it will back her for the Democratic presidential nomination, just days before the state’s caucuses. “The senior U.S. senator from Massachusetts is not the radical some perceive her to be,” the Des Moines Register’s Editorial Board said. “She was a registered Republican until 1996. She is a capitalist.” The Register’s backing is a significant boost for Warren, whom polls suggest trails Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., former Vice President Joe Biden and former South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg in the state.

Democrats are pushing back at GOP backlash over a controversial line in House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s (D-Calif.) closing statement in Friday night's impeachment trial arguments. Schiff sparked an audible reaction from Republicans when he referenced a CBS News report that cited an anonymous Trump confidant saying GOP senators' heads would be “on a pike” if they opposed President Trump on impeachment. Republicans — including Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Susan Collins (Maine) — quickly distanced themselves, with Collins overheard repeatedly saying "that’s not true" and Murkowski saying Schiff "overreached."
