The White House formally told Capitol Hill Democrats on Sunday that the president and his advisers will not participate in Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearings.
White House counsel Pat Cipollone sent the notification letter Sunday to Rep. Jerry Nadler, New York Democrat and Judiciary chairman, complaining about unfair and uncertain processes.
“We cannot fairly be expected to participate in a hearing while the witnesses are yet to be named and while it remains unclear whether the Judiciary Committee will afford the President a fair process through additional hearings,” Mr. Cipollone wrote.
Mr. Cipollone also said the academic nature of the hearing makes White House involvement pointless and underlines its fairness concerns.

Ratcliffe suggested in a tweet that Atkinson, the Intelligence Community Inspector General, might have revealed information about a possible connection between the whistleblower and members of Schiff’s staff.

If Joe Biden gets the Democratic nomination, it’s a good bet he will select a woman as his running mate. Biden has mentioned four women he might pick. They are Sally Yates, Stacey Abrams, Jeanne Shaheen, and Maggie Hassan.
Yates has spent her entire career as a lawyer, not much of a recommendation for the second highest office in the land. Her biggest claims to fame are helping to set up Michael Flynn for prosecution and, as acting attorney general, refusing to enforce Trump administration immigration policy.
These actions made her a hero to the Trump resistance. However, they do not recommend her for the second highest office in the land.

A worker demolishing a century-old wall at a New Jersey college was shocked to find a message in a bottle tucked into a secret compartment within the bricks and mortar.
“This is to certify that this wall was built by two bricklayers from Newark, N.J.,” read the note, written in neat cursive and rolled into a blue-tinted beer bottle.
The missive from the past was written on July 3, 1907 and signed by William Hanley and James Lennon.
“When I first saw the date, ‘I was like, 1907?'” Robert Kanaby, who found the note this summer, told NJ.com. “It gave me chills to realize what I had come across.”
