“Honestly, his demeaning fake orgasm was really the straw that broke the camel’s back." With those striking words in interview published late Sunday, Lisa Page, the ex-FBI lawyer who carried on an extramarital affair with former FBI head of counterintelligence Peter Strzok as the two exchanged anti-Trump text messages, said she was breaking her silence. The 39-year-old Page was referring to Trump's comments about her and Strzok at an October rally in Minneapolis. During that rally, Trump performed a passionate, dramatic reading of Strzok and Page's text messages, which were sent as Strzok was overseeing the Hillary Clinton email investigation and the counterintelligence probe into the Trump campaign

We fought wars for oil, undermined unfriendly governments for oil, but in the end, we were at the mercy of others for our oil supply. Our economy was held hostage by OPEC, as even a small change in the price of oil would send markets reeling and slow economic growth. But in September, that all pretty much ended. Alone together, beyond the crowd, above the world, to cling together, we're strong as we're together. On December 3–4, 2019, the 70th anniversary of NATO, the collective military self-defense alliance of 29 countries, will be held outside London. It remains to be seen if this gathering will be of one of celebration or of feuding and tension, whether it is an organization that is obsolete or still relevant. Differences over this have been expressed in the last month as a result of a strong negative statement by French president Emmanuel Macron on November 7, 2019 and a series of rebuttals by others.

More than one million Swedes are now taking medication for depression, while a study has found people in Stockholm feel insecure due to surging crime. Around one in ten Swedes now take antidepressants, a number that has doubled over the last two decades, becoming one of the countries with the highest use of antidepressant drugs, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports. Mikael Tiger, a psychiatrist and researcher, stated that there are several reasons for the rise, including cheaper medication and less stigma attached to those who take the drugs. The most significant increase in demand for the drugs has been children aged 10 to 14, but it is

Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) is one of the few Democrats who aren’t insane. Yes, that club has lost a lot of members since 2016. She’s still a liberal Democrat, but she’s not nuts. She has noted how identity politics has hijacked her party. She hates it when people generalize all Trump supporters as racist. And she warned her party in 2016 that the Clinton campaign was ignoring the Rust Belt, and her state, at their peril. Now, she’s observing that the overtly partisan public impeachment hearings are pretty much accomplishing what Russia wants with this circus: division. And it’s the Democrats leading that charge because…‘orange man, bad.’

A furious political row broke out today after it was revealed that the London Bridge terrorist was released automatically from prison last year. Usman Khan, 28, was sentenced in 2012 after being arrested in 2010 for terrorism offences for his part in an al Qaeda-inspired terror group that plotted to bomb the London Stock Exchange and kill Boris Johnson. The Stoke-on-Trent-based radical, along with two co-conspirators, originally received an indeterminate sentence for public protection with a minimum of eight years behind bars - meaning he could be kept indefinitely if he continued to pose a risk to the public. However, this sentence was later quashed, after a ruling from judges

Cable news shows spent countless hours in November wondering how the public testimony of national security officials will affect the impeachment proceedings against President Trump. But few are asking how these proceedings will affect national security in the long term. One potential answer should worry everyone, regardless of your position on Trump: Efforts to turn these officials into political weapons in Congress will put our national security in grave danger. The president trusts the National Security Council and the broader intelligence community to provide him with the best possible information and analysis for decision making that is essential to national security.

President Trump last week signaled his intention to designate the Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations (FTO). In doing so, he takes the most aggressive step yet toward addressing the brutal violence that plagues Mexico and is fueling a migrant crisis at the southern U.S. border. Mexico’s ongoing descent into a gangland is brought into current focus with the horrific murders of six women and children of dual Mexican and American citizenship. This came on the heels of Mexican government forces being routed by the cartels, who were ultimately successful in releasing the son of notorious cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. The pontiff also had strong words against defeatism and pessimism, urging his hearers to be joyful in witnessing to Christ.

Just how stupid are we human beings as a species? That’s been an ongoing debate in the environmental law field for over a generation. The prevailing view was stated in a famous article by Garrett Hardin, “The Tragedy of the Commons,” which appeared in Science in 1968. Hardin argued that if resources are owned in common, people will overuse them until the carrying capacity of the resource is exceeded and environmental calamity results. His example was putting cows out to graze on a pasture owned in common. Because no one has the right to exclude other people’s cows, Hardin maintained that humans would selfishly put more cows on the commons
