A church in Michigan denied Holy Communion to a state district court judge because she is married to a woman.
Judge Sara Smolenski, the chief judge of Michigan’s 63rd District Court, received a call from the priest at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, requesting she not attend communion.
“This is not about me against the priest, and it’s not really me against the church,” Smolenski told CNN. “This feels like selective discrimination. Why choose gay people, and why now?” (Snip) Because you and Linda are married in the state of Michigan, I’d like you to respect the church and not come to communion.'”

Judge Sara could always go to a Unitarian Church. I don't even think you have to even believe in God to attend.

All she has to do is go to confession, and not have any more freaky homosexual sex.
I'm not Catholic, so I can't go to confession. But I have never had any type of homosexual sex, and never will (OK, mainly because I'm normal and that is just gross to even think about).
It's not hard judge. What is more important to you -- making the headlines as a "victim", or serving God and pleasing Him??? The ball is in your court!!!!!

Democrats should have their own church.....church of the wishy-washy. A living church where the rules can be changed as the wind blows. The party seems to have a lot of these type people.

This judge has been complaining about this for the past week. She must have gone to the media because the Church didn't. She also complained on how she gave $7000 to the building fund and that she feels betrayed by the Priest. Who goes to the media with such tripe? And she has to throw in that she donated $7k. She's a life long Catholic, she HAS to know that the Church isn't for gay marriage.

Excellent! This should be the case for all homosexuals and other unrepentant sinners.

Agree she could always go to the Unitarian Church (AKA "the ethical debating society"), but that's not the leftist way. Leftists want to force individuals and organizations to celebrate perversity without regard to what the Bible says. Anything less in their minds is "hate."

According to other news sites, this woman has not attended this parish in some time. Suddenly she shows up with a few of her fellow travelers, all wearing rainbow pride pins. The young priest gave them Communion rather than raise a stink during Mass and then called her privately after. Said judge then took his private conversation and message to the media, demanding he be removed, which the Bishop refused to do. Sounds like a set up from the get go.

Anyone who has attended Catechism class knows that a blatant sinner should not approach the communion rail without confessing her sins and striving to stop committing them.

#3, you could go to confession, but you are not allowed to take Holy Communion.

FTA "Because you and Linda are married in the state of Michigan" It appears that they are married in the secular State of Michigan bun not in a state of Grace.

Why choose gay people? Sweetie, go crack your Bible (if you even have one). It’s all in there.

Forgot to add - if she attended Catholic school for 8 years she shouldn’t need to ask why.

The priest was doing his job trying to prevent her from bringing damnation on herself by receiving the body and blood of Christ unworthely.

Is she a member of the parish (ie Catholic)? Or is she trolling like the Bakery Gays? That's the first question .
Second: Your priest may refuse you communion if you do not follow biblical or canonical guidelines. You're married same sex. That's always been against Judeo-Christian morals. Always. Even before the ten Commandments, even before God said, "Do not eat the fruit of this tree...", God said, "Go forth, be fruitful and multiply..." Gays are in direct violation of God's First Command. Any creature that disobeys is cursed - they do not have offspring, and simply die.
Sorry Judge Sara. Communion is not for unrepentant Law Breakers.

This judge gal is living in the wrong century. She seems to suppose that she's okay to marry the same sex and have sexual relations with her "wife" because she paid $7,000 toward the church building fund. The practice of purchasing indulgences with money occurred in the 12th century under Pope Innocent III and was terminated terminated by the Council of Trent and Pope Pius V, in 1567.
Her $7,000 donation won't buy her out of purgatory or absolve her of sins in 2019.

Even tho I'm not any religion now, I was raised Catholic. It is a religion of strict rules and regulations that I realized by the age of 20 did not suit me. I have no problem with anyone who believes in any religion, except the ones that want to kill the infidel, and your practices are your own. But I do take exception at the judgementalism I find from time to time when I think there shouldn't be any. I see no reason why homosexuals should not be allowed a church, or sacraments. I totally believe you are born that way and as I see here time after time, God doesn't make mistakes. It has to be hard trying to fit everyone into your own personal scope of right and wrong. I'd have given the woman communion. Erring on the side of love and compassion couldn't be wrong.

Openly living as spouses but not in the Sacrament of Matrimony is an obstacle to receiving Communion, even if it's male and female. Most of those will still be given Communion if they come to receive it, though, if they don't make a blatant deal of their marriage not being sacramental (which makes it possible that their particular status might not be widely known, meaning it won't necessarily rise to the level of public scandal). Same-sex couples who present themselves as married can't help but stand out because their 'marriages' are unquestionably not sacramental, since the Church has never wedded same sex couples.
I'm in no position to change these rules, so it doesn't matter whether I agree with them or not.

Also, remember that Jesus told us all judgment is his, and not to judge one another. That should be enough to stop any Christian from saying somebody is going to hell. Who among us is prepared to face Christ and presume to rebuke his judgments? I certainly have neither the qualifications nor the authority to do that.

#5,#18- Correct, money cannot buy one’s way into heaven.
#19,#21- There is no “pluralism” when it comes to the First Commandment. Scripture is the inspired Word of God, so there is no “pluralism” when it comes to accepting homosexuality as “just as another way of being.” Simply stated, there is only one God. Scripture states that homosexuality is an abomination/sin: (Genesis19:5, Leviticus18:22, Leviticus20:13, Deuteronomy22:5, Deuteronomy23:18, Judges 9:22-23 Romans1:26-27, 1Corinthians6:9-10, 2Peter6-11, Jude1:6-8, Revelation21:5-8, Revelation22:14-15)
Note: Chapter 22 is the last chapter in Revelation and it contains 21 verses; in Verse 15 it is again written that the sexually immoral are among those who will not go through the gates into the city.

The Bible doesn't say God abhors homosexuals. It's homosexual ACTIVITY that is an abomination to the Lord. Celibacy may be extremely difficult, but it's the "get out of jail" free card.

They won't decry all the Catholics for supporting abortion, however, if the Catholic Church thinks its not ok then the judge should find a religion that is fine with her life style.

#4, they have one available to them. It's called the Unitarian Universalist Church. Basically no-rules church. Believe whatever you want (or don't believe at all; that's cool too,) do whatever suits you.

19 - The priest could have denied Communion to a hetero couple living "in sin". Why should a lesbian get a pass?

Sweet. Finally, our parish priests are doing their job, denying someone known to be openly living in sin (by our teachings) Holy Communion. All she has to do is confess and "do no more". Her big mistake is to take it to the media (CNN) after being "privately" called. BTW, her "sin" is not being a lesbian, but being "married" and living openly with one in defiance of our Laws.
