U.S.-China trade deal "stalled
because of Hong Kong legislation"

A trade deal between the United States and China was now "stalled because of Hong Kong legislation," news website Axios reported on Sunday, citing a source close to U.S. President Donald Trump's negotiating team. The deal was stalled also because time was needed to allow Chinese President Xi Jinping's domestic politics to calm, the report added, citing the unnamed source.China's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that legislation signed by Trump on Wednesday backing protesters in Hong Kong was a serious interference in Chinese affairs

"Trump signs bills backing Hong Kong protesters despite warnings from China"

FTA: "The law amends the 1992 U.S.-Hong Kong Policy Act to require annual reviews by the State Department of Hong Kong’s autonomy from mainland China, on which will now turn Hong Kong getting to keep its favorable trade status with the U.S. or having it be suspended. The bill also allows for sanctions on people who undermine Hong Kong’s autonomy from China. A second bill signed into law prohibits the export of U.S. crowd-control munitions to Hong Kong police.

This doesn't seem to be affecting the markets as much as i thought it might. Stocks were down slightly Friday but futures are up going into tomorrow. People, at least investors, are starting to believe Trump knows what he's doing.

Wait a minute. Axios? A source close to? They mean a bureaucrat down the hall who likes to listen in on conversations and has never spoken to the president.

Reuters wishes that were the case. The truth is Trump and the United States are in a position of strength, and China will have to negotiate. That's not what Reuter's anti-American left wants.

This is a distraction from the issue. As if China believes that it is in China’s national interest to sign a trade deal with the USA then they will sign on to such a deal, if not they won’t. President Trump really had no choice in signing the two US laws relating to Hong Kong that were passed overwhelmingly by Congress. Of course the Democrats are doing everything they can do to stall all foreign trade deals because they refuse to give a win to Trump.

It is my belief that China will grudgingly give in. They are looking at very tight food supplies due to the deadly pig infections. I think the ruling powers in China are concerned due to the fact that a billion starving people might want regime change. They had an easier time controlling people back in the 60's when it was still mostly an agrarian society. With manufacturing you now have cities like Shenzen that did not exist until late 80's early 90's that now has an estimated population of 20 million with 15 million more in Guagzhou (Canton). They both border Hong Kong. Note that the tariffs lifted in September by China were for Soybeans and Pork. Two major protein sources for the population. This will keep them coming back to the table for talks. As a side note the Chinese Character for home is the character for Pig with a roof radical over it.

Moscow - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed legislation allowing individuals to be labelled foreign agents, drawing criticism from rights groups that say the move will further restrict media freedoms in the country. An initial foreign agent law was adopted by Russia in 2012, giving authorities the power to label non-governmental organisations and human rights groups as foreign agents - a term that carries a negative Soviet-era connotations. But the expansion of the definition of foreign agent to include private individuals now raises fresh concerns about the ability of independent journalists and bloggers to operate in the country.

Paris/Brussels - The World Trade Organization on Monday rejected European Union claims that it no longer provides subsidies to planemaker Airbus, underscoring tariffs recently imposed by the United States on European goods. A new compliance report from the Geneva trade watchdog found that the Airbus A380 and A350 jetliners continue to be subsidised as a result of past European government loans. It is the latest move in a record transatlantic trade dispute involving mutual claims of illegal aircraft subsidies, coming to a head at a time of rising global trade tensions. The United States was in October awarded the right to impose tariffs on $7.5 billion of annual EU imports

I think it's important not to have a public trial for three reasons, and those three reasons are my kids," Hunter said in an interview with KUSI News. "I think it's, it'd be really tough for them. It's hard enough being the kids of a public figure. I think it's time for them to live life outside the spotlight.

Potato processors are rushing to buy supplies and ship them across North America in order to keep French fries on the menu after cold, wet weather damaged crops in key producers in the U.S. and Canada. Cool conditions started to hit growing regions in October, lashing potatoes with frost. Farmers in Alberta and Idaho were able to dig up some damaged crops for storage. But growers in Manitoba, North Dakota and Minnesota received snow and rain, forcing them to abandon some supplies in fields. As the wild weather hurt crops, an increase in fry-processing capacity in Canada has boosted demand. The combination will lead to tight supplies,

IndiGo has told its pilots to stop pushing engines on its new Airbus SE jets to the limit when the planes are climbing, after India’s aviation regulator said the practice may have contributed to turbines failing in the air. There must’ve been something in the water back in 2012, because everyone on the top of the ballot turned out to be even worse than we originally thought. Barack Obama’s legacy is shot, being destroyed by President Trump and the radical left who now view him (laughably) as a conservative. Joe Biden doesn’t know where he is half the time, the other half has his campaign staff wishing he were somewhere else. Paul Ryan was a feckless Speaker of the House who cut bait and ran once he was free to push all the things he’d sworn for years were his deeply held beliefs.
