Buckingham Palace has been decontaminated. Prince Andrew’s office has been closed down. Any chair he sat in has been reupholstered, all doorknobs swabbed down. Let’s not even talk about the bathrooms.
I can’t remember a time when the royal family’s damage control was so swift and absolute. Priests are excommunicated with less haste and more mercy than Andrew in the wake of his disastrous BBC Epstein-related interview, and its ever-cascading fallout. But I detect the odor of scapegoating and hypocrisy in the decisive role that Prince Charles has played in this purge against his brother.

Who cares? British royalty is a historical relic from which the entire UK reaps billions in tourism. Their value grossly outweighs their cost to the commonwealth. When the USA was birthed we also honored the holdings of citizens who held grants (land) bestowed on their families from the British crown much the same as the Brits honor the properties and income from their history-based royalty. Yes, most of the Royals are aware of their privilege and try to avoid scandal - sometimes they fail. But overall....so what?

Who cares? It seems millions of our British cousins do. A favorable view of the monarchy is falling rapidly as well it should given the excesses the royals seem so wont to heap on themselves.

I think most Brits would prefer to skip Charles and Camilla completely and go straight to William.and Kate.

When Prince Charles ascends the throne, and Queen Elizabeth is gone, one has to wonder what changes will happen to Britain. Prince Charles seems to be quite different from Queen Elizabeth. Prince Andrew has become a non-entity and non-factor, and have to wonder how much the royal family is happy with that. Are they all jockeying for power?

Charles ruined a cute young peasant girl's life by whoring around with his surrogate mother. No scandal there. He's the Brits' version of Teddy Kennedy.

I am not a Royalophile, but I found this article to be interesting.
Her greatest asset has always been that nobody outside the family really knows who she is. She is one of the most famous people in the world and yet relatively unknowable. This is a very smart way of remaining above reproach.
This confirmed something I’ve always thought. How can people “love” someone they really don’t know? We have Elizabeth-lovers here as well as in the UK. Why? Do they mean “admire”? Or???

Charles did himself no favors by treating Diana as he did, plus spouting his nutty ideas to the whole world. Had he been smarter, he would have kept his mouth shut and his trousers zipped so that no one knew how stupid, selfish, and cruel he is. His insistence that his slutty mistress become queen consort (in spite of his pledges to the contrary) will diminish the throne his mother has so nobly occupied for most of her life.

Prince Charles and his son William actually are not supported by the taxpayers of Britain. They are the landowners of a couple of Duchys in Britain which entitles them to rents and other payments. From what I can see, Charles and William are actually very good landowners, and they take care of their own. The class envy of the Daily Beast is starting to get very annoying. If you want to criticize, at least learn the reality of the Prince of Wales and his heir. I really loathe class envy of any level. If somebody works their land, they are entitled to the rewards from that effort. Even the Prince of Wales.
If you want something to really slam him for, his infatuation for muslims would be a better target.

I think the royal line should end with Elizabeth and the rest of the moochers join with the commoners and get jobs.

He provides his own bedroom suite simply so the people he visits for an extended stay cannot profit from his having stayed at their residence. Actually a pretty smart idea. If I recall conversations with actual Brits correctly, Parliament has the final say on the succession when the time comes. The nation still loathes Charles and Camilla for what they did to Diana back in the day. It would not surprise me if they indeed want to skip Charles and go to William. Charles and Camilla are loathsome people, and who invites their mistress to ruin his Bride's wedding day but a selfish ingrate like Charles?

I am probably very mistaken to think Royals have or had any class. Keep your family jewels in a lock box.

Enough bashing of Camilla. She was his one true love but they ended up not marrying. Yes, he was cruel to Diana. He didn't love her. But she wore revealing clothes to irritate him and she had an affair. There is similarity between Diana and Megan Markle. Markle also likes to flaunt herself and do things her way. Then like Diana, she bitterly complains when the british royalty objects.

#12 Thank you for you information. Right now they are going after Andrew non stop. I wish the media here would go after Bill Clinton ( and others) and what he did with Epstein with the same gusto.

#6, I don't believe Diana was a "cute, young peasant girl". Her ancestors were already big deals in England when Charles' were still hanging out in what's now Germany.

Nobody really Knows where the "royals" came from anyway. The servants used to have all the babies. At a prize fight in Vegas, I saw 6,000 Brits boo and hiss our National Anthem for 10 minutes. Let the muslims have it all. The London Mayor is a good start.

Good grief. I am flabbergasted at what I see sometimes. Diana was a very young girl when she was chosen to be Charles’s bride. She dressed modestly in tweeds and sweaters and skirts. Yes, he had been messing about with (married) Camilla for some time. There was nothing sexy about her except her innocence.
That she wore what some call sexy clothes later. I have worn similar things (evening wear) and no one thought them sexy. In the main, she wore dignified - sometimes matronly dresses and pants outfits as appropriate to the occasion.
I have no idea where some get their information unless they are distant relatives of Charles or Camilla. They couldn’t possibly be more wrong about Diana. And no, I am not a relative of hers. I just don’t like it when misinformation is published about the dead.

Clarification on last Reply - "There was nothing sexy about her except her innocence."
That was about Diana, not Camilla.
Both Charles and Camilla were cruel. I imagine she was loving it. A mature woman, not very attractive, who’d had a lot of miles on her...

Every day that passes I am eternally thankful that my ancestor "escaped" England for the Colonies at a very young age and remained here. That was around 1660, and I'm sure it wasn't an easy passage working as a deckhand.
