As a one-time college professor, I’ve been attempting to answer a torrent of questions via Quora from prospective students looking for help in the admissions process and advice as they plan their upcoming college majors and degree programs. Some of these questions are silly and unanswerable. Others, those involving the choice of a college major and the likely job prospects in such an area, are crucial. Practically speaking, making the right, not the emotional, choice here will determine whether the student will earn enough to pay off his or her absurdly high college loan debt; or be consigned forever to the dismal hell of sharecropping one’s way through life.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California’s more than 5.6 million independent voters will be allowed to vote in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, but not in the Republican contest, Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced Monday. The two parties have used a similar setup in recent presidential primaries. The state’s presidential primary will be held on March 3, 2020, known as “Super Tuesday,” because of the large number of state contests that day. California is one of the biggest prizes, offering nearly 500 delegates in the Democratic nominating contest.Independent voters, known in the state as “no party preference,” make up roughly 2

Transgender cyclist Rachel McKinnon continues to dominate women’s cycling. It has not been an easy ride. Washington- President Donald Trump on Monday said his much-criticized attempt to stage the G7 at one of his golf courses was not intended to promote his business brand, arguing he's too famous to "need promotion." So, let me get this straight. For the better part of 20 years, the looming American Dream mall—sorry, “retail and entertainment center”—sat unfinished in the Meadowlands, leading daily passersby to wonder whether the gargantuan eyesore off Route 3 was in the process of being put up or torn down. Now, as the waking nightmare is finally set to open some of its attractions Friday, it officially announced Monday that patrons would need pay to park in the 11,000-space lot adjacent to MetLife Stadium. Here’s the pricing breakdown:
•0–29 min: Free
•30 min-3 hours: $3

A bill protecting elephants from the abusive conditions in the entertainment industry took effect in New York on Saturday. Democratic Gov. Did Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., just touch one of the third rails of American politics? Speaking with reporters in Iowa, the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate stated that if she becomes president, cutting off U.S. aid to Israel is a very real possibility if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not stop building settlements in the West Bank. Warren was asked if she would make U.S. aid conditional on settlement building and she was unequivocal in saying that “everything is on the table.” Democrats are searching for quid pro quo, how’s that fit the bill?

As you can see in image above, it looks like Warner Bros.’ hapless Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius, has done it again. Apparently, he acquired a substantial position in Boeing (trading symbol: BA) shares last week on spec, expecting they’d head back up, soon. (He likely got that advice from his broker at the world-renowned Acme Brokerage House. But, as with his periodic, failed forays against the Road Runner, Wile E.’s speculative Boeing purchase quickly took a header in Friday trading action. And got hit again Monday with more bad news regarding the company’s still-grounded fleet of 737 MAX jets. The latest “bombshell” involved emails from a Boeing test pilot.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic candidate for President, has proposed the passage of a wealth tax. The tax would be 2% annually on net worth between $50 and $100 million, and 3% on net worth above $1 billion. This is a disastrous proposal for America. The proposed Warren tax on wealth is unfair, counter-productive, growth-killing and downright un-American. The Warren tax means families that have worked years, perhaps decades, to accumulate wealth, will be forced to pay millions in extra taxes each year. Their extra earned income is already taxed at 37%. Warren wants an additional wealth tax of at least $1 to $50 million.

President Trump’s Syrian withdrawal would be understandable and perhaps even justified if he kept his promise and brought our troops home. But he’s not doing that. Instead, he’s relocating them to western Iraq.
U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper confirmed this weekend that all of the troops ordered to leave northern Syria — about 1,000 of them — have been redeployed to Iraq where they will join the nearly 5,000 other U.S. troops stationed in the area to combat the Islamic State. Blaming reformers for the sins of others that they are working hard to fix is a favorite dishonest tactic of the establishment So it’s getting absurd again. The Kurds were fighting Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran long before President Donald Trump was even born. And The Donald has been on the public scene for a while. But he was not yet born when this war was raging. Yet, in typical dishonesty, the liberal news media and the Democrat/Republican establishment is (as always) blaming President Trump for problems that the establishment actually created themselves or they failed to solve decades before Trump announced his candidacy.

In May 2019, Serrano-Perez pleaded guilty to reentering the country once again and was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison by Senior U.S. District Judge John H. McBryde.

Nobody has done more to sink the claim that climate change is endangering polar bears than zoologist Susan Crockford—and she may have paid for it with her job. After 15 years as an adjunct assistant professor, Ms. Crockford said the University of Victoria rejected without explanation in May her renewal application, despite her high profile as a speaker and author stemming from her widely cited research on polar bears and dog domestication. Ms. Crockford accused officials at the Canadian university of bowing to “outside pressure,” the result of her research showing that polar bear populations are stable and even thriving, not plummeting

It's a new three-way race in Iowa.
Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who was initially seen as a long-shot presidential contender, has surged within striking distance of former vice president Joe Biden and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren in the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses, a Suffolk University/USA TODAY Poll finds.
Biden, long viewed as the Democratic frontrunner, is faltering in the wake of a debate performance last week that those surveyed saw as disappointing.
The poll, taken Wednesday through Friday, put Biden at 18%, Warren at 17% and Buttigieg at 13% among 500 likely Democratic caucusgoers. Those standings reflect significant changes

Earlier this year an anonymous threat forced a D.C. theater to cancel a production of “FBI Lovebirds: UnderCovers.” The play, produced by Phelim McAleer, featured a reading of texts from disgraced FBI agents Lisa Page and Peter Strzok. The two are enmeshed in the Russia collusion hoax that kept the country hostage for north of two years. An element of the Left, fearful the play’s message would get out to the masses, threatened violence against the theater in question. The theater’s management opted to cancel its contract to host the play. Team McAleer was able to find another venue, but it still sent a chill through the theatrical community

Just like coming Canadian Winter, a minority government could be heading Canada’s way, bringing little hope for change for main street Canadians.
After all the drama of a bitterly fought campaign, Canadians are destined for the same old, same old state of political affairs.
You could see it this weekend in the two main party leaders, Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, making a big play of his hoarse voice in a Saturday night, 11 p.m. rally in North East Calgary, where he has scant support courtesy of his ongoing War on Oil,

For years, Pierre Delecto’s presence on Twitter largely went unnoticed. Operating a bare-bones account with the handle, “@qaws9876,” the user’s limited activity only revealed an interest in politics — namely supporting Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah). So when “Pierre Delecto” started trending Sunday on the social media platform, people were understandably confused. “Why are we talking about Pierre Delecto,” one person asked. “WTH is a Pierre Delecto & why is everyone going crazy about it?” another wanted to know. On Sunday, Twitter users lost their collective minds when they learned that “Pierre Delecto” wasn’t a bot or a random Romney superfan,

Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign has been a disaster for her, and may even damage her political career prospects beyond 2020. It’s been all downhill since the impressive kickoff rally in Oakland, where her campaign claimed 20,000 people turned out. With her national polling cratering, she turned to the Iowa caucuses for salvation, betting that a sustained presence, pressing the flesh, would jump start the disaster. A bit over a month ago, Senator Kamala Harris was overhead telling Senate colleague Mazie Hirono, “I’m f***ing moving to Iowa.”

The Rolling Stones’ delayed tour is back on the road. Not the tour they delayed after Keith Richards fell out of a coconut tree, but the one delayed because Mick Jagger had a heart attack. If you’re a boomer of advanced years and decayed taste, all this is no doubt a big deal, your last chance to see some of the last icons of the original and brief Rock Era, before you or they kick the bucket. Ladies and gentlemen, the greatest rock ’n’ roll band in the world, the Rolling Stones.
Except they aren’t the Stones. They haven’t been the Stones for years. They’re not even the Counterfeit Stones,

Underneath all of the day-to-day tumult, for both critics and supporters the Trump presidency has come to represent nothing less than a resurgence of American nationalism. Critics believe they understand that broad tradition. But they don’t.
As I suggest in a new book, Age of Iron, conservative American nationalism is the country’s oldest foreign-policy tradition. Designed to preserve American self-government, it always has been based on a recognition that the United States is an independent nation-state. This means that the material integrity, security, prosperity, and health of the U.S. as a nation ought to be of real concern. I

Freedom is not our norm. In the history of mankind, and even today, oppression and political corruption are the standard, with the people of more than 90 nations living without the freedom we take for granted in America.
Thomas Hobbes was right. Unless we decide, together, to live in peace under a mutually agreed upon and respected social contract, life is invariably nasty, brutish, and short.
But the question for us who live in the freest nation today, is at what point would we say—with justification—that we have lost too much of our liberties and that our nation is being stolen from us right now? Would we even realize

Joe Biden claims he wants to take Trump behind the gym and beat him up.
Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) jokes that she would like to go into an elevator with him and see Trump never come out alive. Robert De Niro has exhausted the ways in which he dreams of punching Trump out and the intonations in which he yells to audiences, “F—k Trump!”
The humanists and social justice warriors of Hollywood, from Madonna to Johnny Depp, cannot agree whether their elected president should be beheaded, blown up, stabbed, shot, or incinerated. All the Democratic would-be presidential nominees agree that Trump is the worst something-or-other in history—from human being to mere president.

Peggy Noonan reveals her cluelessness on the complexity of Syrian situation with her column "Trump's Reckless Rush to Withdraw."
There she writes the president doesn't know much about the Kurds thus implying that she does. But if Noonan knew a fraction about the Kurds as she thinks she does, she'd know that they are no angels and that they latched onto the U.S. as an ally of convenience.
More to the point, our troops were never in Syria to protect the Kurds. They were there to defeat ISIS. Now that that is done, there's no reason for us to stay. But there is plenty of reasons to leave.

In a letter he wrote in 1953, C.S. Lewis lamented the "apostasy of the great part of Europe from the Christian faith." This apostasy, Lewis warned, presented "very grave dangers." If Lewis could see Europe today, he would rightly conclude that his warnings went almost completely unheeded.
Lewis continued:
For my part I believe we ought to work not only at spreading the Gospel (that certainly) but also at a certain preparation for the Gospel. It is necessary to recall many to the law of nature before we talk about God. For Christ promises forgiveness of sins: but what is that to those who

If you are mystified by things that liberals say and do, then you are in good company. What they say, and what they do, begin with what they think, and they do not think like us. Their thinking makes as little sense as what they say and do.
For example, liberal politicians can lie to your face -- and then, even when they know that you have caught them in a lie, they have no shame. Indeed, when challenged, they will, astonishingly, either repeat the same lie, or tell a different one, and all without blinking an eye. Witness Elizabeth Warren with her repeated fabrications,

Pollsters are at it again, pushing sketchy polls, not to reflect public opinion, but to shape it. This is called propaganda, a popular tool for dictators who want to control the information flow from an all-powerful government to their subjects, the people.
What once passed for journalism is now mostly propaganda, an effort by major media organizations to insert themselves into the political process, to push their agenda, even if it means throwing any pretense of journalistic principle and integrity to the wind. Look at the Project Veritas undercover videos of CNN for the latest example.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) told the Atlantic on Sunday that he believes the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry investigating President Donald Trump will serve as an “inflection point in American history.”
Atlantic staff writer McKay Coppins released an interview on Sunday detailing extended conversations with Romney regarding his views on the U.S. Senate, his attacks on President Trump, as well as his opinions on impeachment.
Coppins wrote that while most Republicans have backed the president amidst the impeachment inquiry, Romney continues to stay “open to the idea that the president may need to be evicted from the Oval Office.”

Two news stories published over the weekend had the same message. The State Department was out to get President Donald Trump after suffering years of “frustration.” At least these denizens of the deep state are being honest.
Politico’s 2,000-word story – titled “The Revenge of the State Department” – begins by reporting on the fact “current and former Foreign Service officers have defied Trump administration orders and trudged to Capitol Hill to testify before House committees investigating whether to impeach the president.”
These officials, the story says, are “furious,” “terrified,” “incredulous,” “disappointed,” “fed up,” “livid,”

I want my vote back, Mitt. Give me back my vote.
In 2012, I voted for this insufferable establishment icon, this inept goof who the Democrats wish every Republican would emulate. Some nights, I wake up sweating and screaming when I relive it in my nightmares. I should have taken my ballot, lit it on fire and flushed it down the Schiffhole.
But Romney does serve a purpose, as hard as that is to see through his pathetic antics. His perpetual groveling for approval – including, hilariously, from Donald Trump himself who just broke him right in front of our eyes over the Secretary of State gig – is so shameful

The rejection by Britain’s parliament of Prime Minister Johnson’s deal in respect of Brexit makes us wonder whether the denouement to this drama could end up like the last scene of “The Spy Who Came in From the Cold.” That involved the desperate flight to escape East Germany by Richard Burton and his disillusioned girlfriend. Inches from freedom, they are gunned down at the Berlin Wall.
It’s not our intention here to draw a moral equivalency between the European Union and the Soviet Bloc. (Or to predict gunfire.) Only to remark on how harrowing the desperate effort of the doughty Brits to escape Europe has become.

IN AN ideal world, our leaders would acknowledge the danger of climate change and seek the best way to combat it. If they did, they would easily find an answer that is effective and progressive: The latest bulletin from the International Monetary Fund maps what it would take to restrain warming to tolerable levels without wasting massive amounts of money or unnecessarily harming workers, companies and households.
In our far-from-ideal world, President Trump can’t even acknowledge the problem, and the Democrats who call for immediate action seem to be running from the best solutions.

A new bill would require Supreme Court justices to disclose more information about privately funded travel, a lavish and much-enjoyed perk of service on the nation’s highest judicial tribunal.
Federal judges have relatively cursory reporting requirements for reimbursed travel as compared to the other branches of government. The justices are only obligated to provide the source and a brief description of reimbursements, but need not report dollar amounts or any gift received as “personal hospitality.”
The proposed Judicial Travel Accountability Act requires judicial officers to itemize privately funded travel,

President Trump is often described as a bull in a china shop, but one wonders: what, exactly, is the china shop? The Democrats have debased our public life to the point where it is more apt to say that Trump is a bull trying to defend himself in a slaughterhouse. You could adduce instances of the Democrats’ lack of the most basic decency every day; here are just two for today.
First, Senator Rand Paul and a friend were eating lunch when they were confronted and harassed by demented Democrats. This is the sort of thing that never happens to politicians on the other side of the aisle. Maybe it should:

Trump will win reelection in 2020 for three reasons: First, the voters are always reluctant to replace a president in a time of peace and prosperity, regardless of his perceived flaws. Second, a transparently partisan impeachment vote in the House followed by a fair trial and acquittal in the Senate, will seriously damage the Democratic brand while sparking an internal civil war between its moderate and leftwing factions. Finally, this ideological conflict within the opposition party will result in the nomination of a weak compromise candidate to face a vindicated and politically stronger incumbent President awash in cash and supported by highly motivated voters.

When Jay Fielden, late of Esquire, announced his departure as editor-in-chief this past May, he did it in foppish style. An Instagram post showed him leaving Hearst Tower dressed in a safari jacket and dark sunglasses, designer bags in hand. The photo, which fastidiously aped a famous shot of Jack Nicholson, was roundly mocked on social media. But it served as a fitting, if unwitting, symbol of how the Esquire of today stands in comparison with the Esquire of an earlier era—as a self-conscious echo, a superficial imitation of its former self. Nicholson, after all, was merely living his life; Fielden was playing pretend.

In her efforts to rationalize her 2016 loss, Hillary Clinton has gone full cuckoo. Vladimir Putin not only robbed her, he’s positioning his “assets” to do it again.

“I’m not making any predictions, but I think they’ve got their eye on somebody who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She’s the favorite of the Russians,” Clinton raved.

The Massachusetts Democrat and White House candidate said at a town hall in Indianola, Iowa: "What I see … is that we need to talk about the cost, and I plan over the next few weeks to put out a plan that talks about specifically the cost of 'Medicare-for-all,' and specifically how we pay for it."

Journalism isn't just dead — it's decomposed.
When Chris Wallace — in all Deep State unctuousness — asked Mick Mulvaney on Fox News Sunday to comment on a "well-connected Republican" who allegedly told Wallace there was a 20 percent chance the GOP would vote to remove the president from office, he not only was aiding in that decomposition, he was picking up a shovel and helping dig its grave.
Wallace didn't identify who this "well-connected Republican" is or what he actually said in context, just the tidbit the host wanted to tell us. What Wallace was doing was engaging in propaganda, creating a smear based on the flimsiest hearsay.

Deep-sea explorers and historians on Sunday announced they apparently found a second World War II-era Japanese aircraft carrier that sank during the Battle of Midway.
A review of sonar data captured Sunday showed either the Japanese carrier Akagi or the Soryu resting in nearly 18,000 feet of water in the Pacific Ocean more than 1,300 miles northwest of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Vulcan Inc. director of undersea operations Rob Kraft said.
The researchers used an autonomous underwater vehicle, or AUV, equipped with sonar to find the ship. The vehicle had been out overnight collecting data, and the image of a warship appeared in the first set of readings on Sunday morning.
