Hillary Clinton was in the news this week for her odd feud with 2020 presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard, a Democratic member of Congress from Hawaii. Clinton accused Gabbard of being a “Russian asset” who is being groomed by the Kremlin to defect from the Democratic Party and run as a third-party candidate. The two-time presidential candidate claims Gabbard would then fulfill the same spoiler role as Green Party candidate Jill Stein did in 2016, diverting votes from the Democratic nominee. This, Clinton explained, would help President Trump’s reelection.
There is no evidence to support Clinton’s completely fanciful charge, and Gabbard has said she will not run as a third-party candidate.
As week four of the impeachment drama draws to a close we are left with enough changing narratives, secret hearings, and meme-worthy tantrums to fill an entire season of “Gossip Girl.” Except, this is Congress, so let’s not insult the writers of “Gossip Girl.”

Consumers outraged about slow dishwashers are staunchly backing an Energy Department move, over industry objections, to create a new category of products that feature a one-hour washing cycle.
Individual consumers have flooded the public comment docket in support of the Energy Department proposal, which grants a petition made by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, a free-market think tank. The agency proposal would establish a separate product class for dishwashers that clean and dry dishes within one hour, an action that would exclude those appliances from current energy and water conservation standards until separate rules are crafted.
The Energy Department could finalize the proposal as soon as next year.
House Democrats’ top impeachment inquisitor abruptly changed from repeatedly insisting on the testimony of a whistleblower against President Donald Trump to working to prevent it. The change occurred as soon as it was revealed the complainant had secretly worked with Rep. Adam Schiff’s Democratic staff prior to filing his formal complaint on Aug. 12.

Federal prosecutors who are looking into the origins of the government's Russia probe have interviewed about two dozen people, suggesting that the inquiry is further along than previously known, The New York Times reported Saturday.
The prosecutors have asked witnesses about whether former FBI officials that have been frequent targets of President Trump hold anti-Trump bias, former officials and others familiar with the review told the Times.
U.S. Attorney John Durham, who is leading the investigation, has not interviewed all of the FBI officials who were instrumental in opening the Russia probe in 2016, sources told the newspaper.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday he’s pardoning three immigrants who've been convicted of crimes as part of an effort to protect them from deportation to their home countries.
The three men -- originally from El Salvador, Iran and Cambodia --- broke the law as teens or young adults, served their sentences and have taken steps to rehabilitate themselves, the governor’s office said. But Newsom’s pardons do not completely shield the men from deportation. The move instead erases the mens' criminal records to prevent past offenses from being considered in their deportation cases.
