During that night’s edition of the unfunny “Ridiculist” on AC360, CNN host Anderson Cooper bitterly lashed out at the two, declaring: “Tonight, let there be no doubt that big, shiny, elegant, gold-plated opportunities, gorgeous opportunities await those who deceive the country on behalf of President Trump.”
A police officer in North Carolina is suing for religious discrimination after being fired for following the “Billy Graham rule.”
The officer in question is 51-year-old Manuel Torres, who served as a deputy for the Lee County Sheriff’s office for five years. He was then asked to train a new female deputy in July of 2017, but refused to do so on religious grounds. Torres, a practicing Baptist, cited that his belief is that “the Holy Bible prohibits him, as a married man, from being alone for extended periods with a female who is not his wife.”
What Torres cited is more commonly known as the “Billy Graham Rule,”
Liberal activists heralded the death of billionaire philanthropist David Koch soon after news of his passing became public Friday morning.

Authorities said they spotted a group of 12 suspected illegal immigrants attempting to cross the river at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Now, with some much-needed clarification, the United States Department of Labor (DOL) invites religious employers to compete for federal contracts on equal footing with their secular counterparts.

The National Republican Congressional Committee, which is charged with helping elect and re-elect Republicans in the House, is fundraising with shirts that promote President Donald Trump’s desire to buy Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.
The limited-edition T-shirt features a map of the United States, showing Greenland as of part of the U.S., patterned with the American flag.

Sen. Cory Booker (D.-N.J.) sent out a Tweet today saying that climate change is an “existential crisis” and “must be the lens through which we view everything.”

Approximately 64 percent of the arrests that the federal government made in fiscal 2018 were of non-U.S. citizens, according to a report released today by the Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Statistics.
That represents a dramatic change from just two decades ago, when approximately 63 percent of federal arrests were of citizens and only approximately 37 percent were of non-citizens. According to the data for fiscal years 1998 through 2018 that the BJS released today, federal arrests of non-U.S. citizen first surpassed federal arrests of citizens in fiscal 2008.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg on Friday released a plan to combat addiction, mental health, and loneliness, but he warned that the president himself was part of the cause.

Koch's death was officially announced by his older brother, Charles Koch. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my brother David. Anyone who worked with David surely experienced his giant personality and passion for life.”Charles, the older of the two, went on to say that Koch died 27 years after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. An opinion article in The Baltimore Sun last week criticized President Donald Trump’s record of musicians and other artists he’s invited to perform at the White House. It’s apparently zero.
The article commits a number of digressions and blunders: It engages in remote psychology by speculating on Trump possibly having “musical anhedonia”; its closing charge seems to confound refinement with some degree of moral virtue; and the author grounds the meaningfulness of music in its service of “evolutionary goals.” How sublime.

One of the four leading Democrats running for president, Bernie Sanders announced this week that, if elected, he’ll spend $16.3 trillion over the next decade to decarbonize the economy. That’s a big number. But it’s only one of Sanders’ “bold” plans that, when added up, would more than double the size of the federal government.
The details of Sanders’ “Green New Deal” aren’t particularly important. Suffice it to say, the plan is stuffed to the brim with pie-in-the-sky assumptions and massive new government programs. To those of us of who learned our U.S. history from texts in the 1940s and '50s, President Donald Trump's brainstorm of acquiring Greenland fits into a venerable tradition of American expansionism.
The story begins with colonial officer George Washington's march out toward Fort Duquesne in 1754 and crushing defeat and near death at Fort Necessity, where, according to myth, he fired the first shot of what would become the French and Indian War.
With the British victory, Washington went home to Virginia, only to be called back in 1775 to lead the Continental Army in America's War of Independence, which lasted six years, until the victory at Yorktown.
SSparking immediate protests at the Democratic National Committee's summer meeting in San Francisco Thursday, the organization's Resolutions Committee voted down a resolution that called for a climate-focused debate among 2020 presidential primary candidates.
The committee's 8-17 vote on the resolution outraged members of the youth-led Sunrise Movement in attendance, who stood on their seats and sang the union protest song "Which Side Are You On?" before walking out.
"California was literally on fire last year — we know firsthand that climate breakdown is killing people and destroying livelihoods right now," 26-year-old Sunrise volunteer Alex Morrison, who moved to San Francisco from South Florida, said in a statement. "Time is running out
The landscape of women’s sports has changed drastically in the last few years. Natural-born males who now identify as women can compete athletically against natural-born women simply by stating they identify as a woman. This includes quite masculine males who have long since passed the age of puberty before their purported “transition.” What has been buried under the identity politics cacophony are facts of biology, and the indisputable differences between the two sexes.
Those who have spoken out against the sudden turn of events say they are being censored; some professionals have been fired for not following the trans activist narrative that prevails in public discourse.

A frog and a poisonous scorpion arrive at a raging, storm swollen river at the same time; both want to cross to safety on the other side. The scorpion, who can't swim, turns to the frog asking for a ride on its back.
"No, you'll sting me and I'll die," replies the frog.
"Oh, no," the scorpion counters. "If you drown and die in the river, I'll drown and die, too, so I wouldn't do that."
Agreeing that this is logical, the frog allows the scorpion to hop on its back and then jumps into the river to swim across to the other side.
The president did a 30-minute presser in the sun while his chopper waited. Before long, the press was griping among themselves about the heat. The 73-year-old president, in coat and tie, stood the entire time and apparently never even broke a sweat. The much younger reporters, seated in bleachers and dressed more comfortably for the sun, are just a bunch of wimps.

The national popular vote bandwagon continues to attract anxious passengers before the 2020 election. Fifteen states plus D.C. with 196 electoral votes have joined the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC), which would obligate the participating states to cast their electoral votes for the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote, not the candidate who wins the state's popular vote, but only after states with 270 or more electoral votes join the compact. Most recently, Nevada's governor had the good sense to veto the measure.

Earlier this week, Elizabeth earned plaudits from her most devoted fans -- denizens of elite coastal newsrooms -- for apologizing to Native Americans at a forum she attended. The Massachusetts Senator acknowledged that she'd made "mistakes" and caused "harm," but failed to detail what, specifically, those harmful mistakes actually were. Her campaign also memory-holed her disastrous DNA stunt video, which had been hailed by some in the press as brilliant when it was first released, only to slide into the "problematic" column when (once again) genuine Native Americans strongly objected to the nature of her supposed "proof." Out: This dodgy evidence shows
San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors just adopted a resolution recommending that felons not be called felons but rather “formerly incarcerated person” or former “justice-involved” person or “returning resident” — or any other number of soft and fuzzy names that won’t hurt the feelings of the, umm, felons.
File this under Ridiculous.
“We don’t want people to be forever labeled for the worst things that they have done,” Supervisor Matt Haney said to the San Francisco Chronicle. “We want them ultimately to become contributing citizens, and referring to them as felons is like a scarlet letter that they can never get away from.”

First off, Haney does have a point.
Last year, the Democrats portrayed President Trump as a monster for authorizing an immigration policy under which border authorities separated some children from the “families” with which they had illegally entered the country. Ignoring the inconvenient fact that many of the people from whose arms these kids were “so cruelly torn” weren’t parents or relatives, they compared the president to Adolf Hitler and accused him of state terrorism. The Trump administration now plans to close the legal loophole that required the separations and is all too predictably being denounced by the Democrats for that proposal. Earlier this week, my colleague, the wise and empathetic Carly Pildis, wrote a thoughtful and powerful piece about the political future of American Jews. In it, she argues that the Democratic Party, notwithstanding a handful of problematic and relatively inconsequential congresswomen, is still the most safe and welcoming space for Jews, while the president is guilty of rhetoric that is downright anti-Semitic.
It is in the spirit of Carly’s call for dialogue that does not shy away from unpleasant assertions that I would like to offer two observations about the political future of American Jews.
The first has to do with the unthinkable descent of the Democratic Party
August in Washington can be the political equivalent of an elephant graveyard: One good rain can wash away the dirt and expose the bones of scandals past.
And this August did not disappoint. Thanks to the relentless investigative work of Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), we are learning that the Hillary Clinton email case may not really be settled.
A staff memo updating the two senators’ long-running probe discloses that the FBI — the version run in 2016 by the now-disgraced and fired James Comey, Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok — failed to pursue access to “highly classified”
A coterie of intimidating lawyers. A deployment of charm. An aura of invincibility. A five-figure donation to a New York Times reporter's favored nonprofit. A bullet delivering a message. Even, it is alleged, a cat's severed head in the front yard of the editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair.
Such were the tools the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein is said to have used to try to soften news coverage and at times stave off journalistic scrutiny altogether.
Before his death earlier this month, Epstein owned the largest townhouse in Manhattan, little more than a mile from many of the nation's leading news organizations. He counted a former and a future president among his friends.
In February, Nevada became the first state in the country with a female-majority legislature. By June, with the help of the state’s Democratic governor, there were stronger laws ensuring equal pay for women, tougher penalties for domestic violence, better protection for sexual-assault survivors, more money for family-planning services, an end to a requirement that forced doctors to ask women their marital status before performing an abortion and an increased minimum wage. If anyone needed proof that having more female lawmakers benefits women, Nevada certainly makes a compelling case.

GREENFIELD, N.H. – The 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls flocking to the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire could encounter voters who say they are feeling the effects of climate change in their pocketbooks -- as they seek to woo Democrats who count the environment as a top issue.
Tourism is the Granite State’s second-largest industry and accounts for a large portion of the state’s economy. The ski industry alone contributes on average about half a billion dollars a year to the state, but it’s been forced to make some changes over the years to combat a rise in winter temperatures -- an average increase of nearly six degrees since 1970.
Rep. Tom Malinowski, D-N.J., defended the presence of both legal and illegal immigrants on Tuesday, asking his constituents: "Who do you think is mowing our beautiful lawns?"
"There are a lot of jobs in our community, that like it or not, for better or for worse, Americans are not willing to take,” Malinowski said in a video obtained by the Washington Examiner.
Malinowski, the freshman Democrat who is now running for reelection in New Jersey's seventh district, began citing statics showing the major role migrants play in the workforce.
Someone needs to alert Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, and the rest of the socialists in this country that leftist fan-favorites Barack and Michelle Obama will soon have new digs. More importantly, because their new mansion in Martha's Vineyard costs a cool $15 million, those new digs are a vivid demonstration of the income disparity between the haves and the have-nots (the working class that just yesterday Bernie tweeted should win the class war).
In the past, we at PJ Media wondered in what sense the new website The Bulwark is actually "conserving politics," as its founder Bill Kristol says it is. As far as our very own Jim Treacher could see, The Bulwark defended a pro-choice (read: pro-infanticide) position, mocked those with pro-life views, and blasted opponents of socialism. That's a bit strange for a conservative website, is it not?
Well, now they've gone and done it again. The website's Liz Mair has published a piece in which she gives Joe Biden -- the leftist Democrat and former vice president to Barack Obama -- campaign advice. As in serious, well-thought-out advice.
