We all knew this was going to happen. The majority of the House Democratic caucus now supports impeachment proceedings against President Trump because he won the 2016 election. This was the plan all along. Of course, the Democrats couldn’t admit this after they retook the House in 2018. They had to look like they were going to push a legislative agenda, not engage in a crusade against the Trump White House until the next election cycle. It’s the tantrum of all tantrums. And while this is annoying—the impeachment circus—it’s also highly entertaining;

Demonstrating why liberal judicial activists should be an endangered species, Ninth Circuit judge Stephen Reinhardt, joined by two other Jimmy Carter appointees (Harry Pregerson and William C. Canby, Jr.), rules in Bennett v. Plenert that the so-called “zone of interests test” that courts have developed (beyond Article III’s constitutional requirements) as a prudential limitation on standing overrides the broad language of the citizen-suit provision. Therefore, the court concludes, “plaintiffs who assert no interest in preserving endangered species”—in this case, ranch operators and irrigation districts who

The move generated swift condemnation from the state’s Republicans, who control both houses of the legislature, with some vowing to hold a subsequent vote to override his veto. “Governor Cooper…prefers to pander to his far-left supporters,” said State Senator Chuck Edwards. “We will protect North Carolinians and plan to override his irresponsible veto.” Cooper defended his veto by claiming that the bill was “simply about scoring partisan points and using fear to divide North Carolina.”

ong ago when I was young, the fundamental building blocks of education were “the three Rs”: reading, writing, and arithmetic. Today, for the less-than-edifying Left, the basic brickbats of their 2020 campaign against President Trump also comprise three “Rs”: Russia, racism, and recession. Tragically, among those suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, the most important “R” is missing. That would be reality. Consequently, the cudgels of their “three Rs” campaign likely won’t prevent another four years of the presidency that has been the bane of their existence. If anything, that campaign is likely to boost his reelection chances next year.

There are a lot of misconceptions about the president’s announcement that he is postponing certain tariff increases on China. It’s true that this temporary delay addresses the one area where short-term access to cheap consumer goods has the potential to noticeably impact U.S. consumers: Christmas gifts. Overall, consumer goods are not rapidly inflating in price, and the postponement will ensure that nothing of the sort takes
