“Convicted felons” may be getting a makeover in San Francisco. A Syrian asylum seeker accused of a killing that sparked a week of far-right street violence in the eastern German city of Chemnitz in 2018 has been found guilty of manslaughter. Federal arrests of noncitizens have jumped over 200% in the last 20 years and now account for 64% of those arrested, according to the Justice Department.The Bureau of Justice Statistics said that federal arrests of non-Americans rose 234% from 1998-2018. For U.S. citizens, the percentage rose just 10% over those 20 years.The newly released statistics feed the Trump administration’s narrative that an increase in immigration, especially illegal immigration, has fed a spike in crime.

A Pasco County man is being called a “hero” after authorities say he shot and killed a domestic violence suspect and helped several children to safety Wednesday in Trinity.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 6:50 p.m. concerning neighbors that were involved in a shootout, Sheriff Chris Nocco said during a news conference Wednesday night. A person inside a house was screaming for help “as they were being attacked," Nocco said.
Detectives later found evidence inside the house, including blood, that indicated an attack had occurred. The house was in disarray, and a “physical altercation was going on,” Nocco said.

And after Elizabeth Warren was discovered to have claimed Native American ancestry before being hired by Harvard Law School, they went straight to work. Warren was dubbed “Fauxcahontas,” “Lieawatha,” “Spewing Bull,” and “Fraudazuma.” She was “on the warpath” sending up “smoke signals”; her Senate campaign was a “Trail of Tears.” The Boston Globe was said to be “carrying her fire water.” So relentless did the jabs become that the most visible insult comedian of all, President Trump, got in on the act, calling Warren “Pocahontas” during—naturally—a ceremony honoring Native American veterans.
Partisans may cheer or jeer prosecutor John Durham, appointed by Attorney General William Barr to investigate how the FBI came to investigate Russian involvement in the Trump 2016 campaign. Of deeper interest to thoughtful people across the political spectrum is the light this investigation may shed on abuses of government surveillance that have occurred under both Republican and Democratic administrations.

Louisiana Republican Gubernatorial candidate Ralph Abraham dropped an advertisement Thursday titled “truth,” as he seeks to unseat incumbent Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards.
In the ad, Abraham draws on his background as a doctor to say that “life begins at conception,” and makes it clear that he believes there are only two genders. “As a doctor, I can assure you, there are only two genders,” Abraham says.
Edwards issued an executive order last year banning employment discrimination against state employees on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation, but it was shut down by the state Supreme Court. Abraham also states “government is too big,” “our taxes are too high,
Swedish police say that the number of explosive incidents and bombings in Sweden from January to July has increased 45 percent compared to the same period in 2018.
Statistics released by the police show that Sweden saw a total of 83 explosive incidents during the period from January to July, a number that has increased to 120 this year, Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter reports.
Last year saw a total of 157 explosions across the country according to Dagens Nyheter, but actual numbers are somewhat unclear, with other groups such as the Crime Prevention Council BRÅ reporting 108 claims of general destruction by an explosion in 2018.

Tom Wright-Piersanti, who has been a Senior Staff Editor at the New York Times for more than five years according to his LinkedIn page and according to his Twitter page oversees the newspaper’s political coverage, has made a series of antisemitic and racist tweets over the years. Gov. J.B. Pritzker has signed a law aimed at creating protections for immigrants who rent in Illinois.
The law prohibits landlords from evicting or retaliating against tenants based on their immigration status. Landlords are also barred from disclosing or threatening to disclose immigration status to any law enforcement or immigration agency. The Babylon Bee, which describes itself as “Christian news satire,” has been engaged in a running battle with Snopes.com, a liberal “fact check” site that serves mostly as a mouthpiece for the left. Snopes has repeatedly undertaken, with a straight face, to “fact check” Babylon Bee stories that are obviously humorous. This has given rise to considerable ridicule, but some suspect that Snopes has a more sinister purpose in mind: to give liberals at platforms like Facebook an excuse to downgrade or even ban the sharing of Bee posts. The humorless left has nothing like the Bee, and would like to get rid of it.
During the course of his remaining five and a half years in office, President Trump will come to an understanding with China. Trade will be only a part of it. Progressive Jews accused President Trump of blaring "straightforward anti-Semitism" after he said from the Oval Office on Tuesday that Jewish Americans who vote for the Democratic Party are either ignorant or disloyal.
The smear — which sparked widespread outrage and the trending hashtag #DisloyaltoTrump — came after Trump once again baselessly accused Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., of hating Jews and Israel.
"Where has the Democratic Party gone?" Trump said. "Where have they gone where they're defending these two people over the state of Israel? I think that any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty."
The Office of Special Counsel has found that Customs and Border Patrol’s (CBP) “noncompliance with the law has allowed subjects subsequently accused of violent crimes, including homicide and sexual assault, to elude detection even when detained multiple times by CBP or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).”
The law requires that CBP collect DNA from individuals held in their custody in order to run the material against the FBI’s database of violent criminals. The agencyhas failed to do this for 10 years, allowing violent criminals to walk free.

In context, the president was trying to make the point that in addition to our own hard work, others contributed to whatever level of success we have attained. The president suggested no one achieves success on his or her own. Republicans took his words as just another indicator that Democrats want more government control over our lives and businesses.

Forty-seven percent of the 1,000 likely voters polled in the survey, conducted August 12-13, 2019, agreed when asked the following question:
“Is it fair to say that neither party in Congress is the party of the American people?”

Cotton, R-Arkansas, said he broached the topic with the Danish ambassador to the United States several months ago. He also recommended to President Donald Trump that he should try to buy the territory from Denmark. This declaration, the latest salvo in the ongoing U.S.–China trade war, came after the Chinese government allowed its currency, the yuan, to fall to its lowest value in a decade. It is now trading at just over 7 yuan to a dollar.
The currency-manipulation designation is one of the most unwarranted charges volleyed against China by the Trump administration. The depreciation of the yuan was largely caused by market forces and, by most accounts, China has not been a currency manipulator since about 2012.

Israeli forces last month arrested two Arab Israeli men suspected of joining Islamic State and helping the terror group spread its propaganda, the Shin Bet security service said Thursday.
The two men — medical student Amin Yassin, 22, and Ali Armush, 28 — were arrested on July 16, but a court-issued gag order was placed on the case. This order was removed Thursday when the two were indicted in a Northern District Court.

Louisiana Attorney General (AG) Jeff Landry told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview Wednesday that many state attorneys general have “had enough” of big tech, and they will “take action” after significant investigations.
AG Landry spoke with Breitbart News as a Wall Street Journal report revealed that many state attorneys general could launch an antitrust investigation into America’s largest technology companies as soon as September. The report suggested that they could focus on whether these companies stifle competition by using their concentrated marketplace powers. A new national CNN poll of the 2020 Democratic primary has some pretty brutal numbers for Kamala Harris. When CNN last polled the presidential race shortly after the first Democratic debate in June, Harris was on Joe Biden’s heels, trailing just 17 percent to 22 percent. But according to the latest survey by CNN, conducted August 15 to 18, Biden has rebounded to 29 percent, while Harris has dropped all the way down to 5 percent, tied for fourth place with South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg.
