I hear more and more frequently concerns about an impending civil war. (snip) The left, which I used to see as misguided but mostly benign, has built for itself -- because it knows it can’t convince Americans to throw away freedom -- a make-believe utopian country. It has constructed, ex nihilo, a nation that has no borders, no laws, no specific language, and no recognizable morality. When Barrack Obama said he wanted to “fundamentally change” America, he wasn’t bluffing. When he’d stick out his chin and say, ”That’s not who we are,” he wasn’t talking about us; he was talking about the citizens of his make-believe land

Another great Deanna Chadwell piece. She’s right there with Victor Davis Hanson as an astute social critic.

Utopia doesn't mean "good place" in Greek. It translates literally as "no place."

Must read. And re-read. And share with others to read. And read to our kids and grandkids at bedtime. And required read for them in HS and
again freshman year of college!

Deanna identifies the core psychology of the left. Some are locked into it. Pointing out the irrationality of some of their ideas and policies will only stoke resentment and further decline.

For the most part, I don't agree with the above posters. On the other hand, this article is indicative of the thinking on the Right. Oh, leftists are okay, they're just misguided. Just looking for Neverland, lacking family, etc...No, they are not. From one point of view, I can see where this thinking spawns from. However, after dealing with these leftists 'in the trenches' so to speak, there is something very wrong with this thinking. I see leftists not as misguided, but more dangerous. They are vicious, immoral, intolerant, bigoted and racist. They don't want a dialog with us, they want us dead.
I don't believe they want a Utopian society like the writer claims. I believe they want a Communist dictatorship, complete with re-education camps, as well as a collectivist economy and a 'Staasi' police force to deal with 'subversives' like us. This is a good article from a particular point of view. In my own opinion, I don't share that point.

Great article. The left's Neverland is going to be hit with one huge reality check, and most on the left will never know what hit them. The left likes to live in their own alternate reality. In their own fantasy. They deny reality. They deny reason and truth.
They want to outlaw hate, but its OK to hate America, which basically allows the left to hate everything. The left doesn't believe in work, and that the government should take care of them from cradle to grave. The left seeks slavery. The left wants tyranny as long as they are in charge.
Their system does not work. One does not deny reality. One does not deny reason and truth. When one tries, their are consequences. Their Neverland does not put food on the plate or a roof over their heads. The slaves will revolt. The slaves will have disdain and scorn for some impotent decadent corrupt master. They will not put up with them.
The left likes to believe they are the majority of the population. They are not. That's just another media narrative. They appeal to people that hate. They appeal to criminals. They appeal to the fringe elements of society. One can see it in the rhetoric of all the 2020 Democrat candidates for President. The left has reached the bottom of the barrel. They want to be President, but they are charlatans. The average voter would not even let them in their own house.

This beautifully crafted article needs to be read slowly and every sentence savored. It is truly brilliant. After a second reading it is time to forward it to the ‘neediest’ among my family and friends.

The one thing she left out was the two sets of laws, one for the Normals and one for the so-called ''Elites.'' Try doing some of the things those leftist traitors have done since, and before, President Trump was elected. You would be stuffed so deep into some prison they'd have to pump air to you.
And the beat goes on.

The last sentence of Chadwell's piece pulls it together-
"The left has left America and are currently citizens of an impossible, angry, fearful, and hateful land which will never, never make them happy."
This is price the left has paid for replacing Belief in God with strict obeyance to the state and the left's "my way or the highway" approach to public education. Can the left be woke? No. We now have two countries within the same land. Where to from here? God only knows.
All of this is because the left still can't come to terms with the 2016 election outcome? No. This has been brewing for a long long time although one can argue that Obie, the intelligencia (deep staters and academic intellectuals), and the msm blew the lid off of the pandora's box after the election.

The left includes two distinct groups of people, the leaders and the followers. The leaders are exactly as #6 sees them...malicious, devious, hateful, diabolically clever. And in their cleverness, they know how to draw in the followers by getting them to believe that what they espouse will indeed result in whatever utopia means to each of them. No rules. No genders. No borders. No gravity. No work but free everything. The perpetual childhood that Neverland offers to every would be Peter Pan and Wendy out there.
The interesting (and scary) thing is that the usually just goofy Peter Pans and Wendys out there are now turning full Trotsky and foaming at the mouth insane because we've told them, "No, you can't have Neverland." Neverland is becoming Zombieland, and we may have to shoot our way out of it to get back to America.

Interesting and well written article.
I personally equate the Regressive Leftists with the kind of people who join cults. They seek out meaning in their lives by blindly following their leaders who promise them everything under the sun and a perfect utopia at the end of a rainbow which they will help to create. Somehow, it never seems to work the way they envisioned it. (sarcasm on)
Obviously human nature does not allow for these promises to be actualized and those who do promise to take them to their idea of a "utopia" are generally the most evil beings in the world. What I can't and never will understand, is why generation after generation is willing to fall for it time and time again. And when they finally do realize the mistakes that they have made both in judgement and action, it's usually too late. Ending either in death or more likely in this case, misery.

That's about right. They truly do live in a different place. They won't let us alone because they want us to pay for their different place.

Great article. I believe it describes the rank and file left. I agree with #6 about the leadership - they are the tyrants and dictators who know better but sell the Neverland illusion to their followers.
If you were to offer to the rank and file that they can have half of the country to live in as they want (Neverland) so long as everyone else can live in the other half of the country and never have to deal with the Neverlanders, many would agree to the deal. However, the leadership and the smarter of the rank and file would never agree to such an arrangement as they realize that their fantasy is not self-sustaining and they need the rest of the population to be productive slaves for them. They realize that now and that's why they at trying to drag everyone into their fantasy world (willing or not).
