Though I find it pretty amusing that there are various "political experts" out there among the Commentariat™ who are now suggesting that the seat currently held by the departing Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) might be flippable, I'm not yet ready to declare any race a "sure thing" one way or the other, considering the current political climate, where things you once thought would never happen have actually happened. It's hard not to, though, when one considers the goldmine of material Texas Democrat Senate nominee James Talarico has put out there over the years for Trump-backed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the newly minted GOP Senate nominee, to exploit.

Spoiler alert: Naaah. But it's certainly fun to fantasize. Yes, John Cornyn may have been a slightly safer bet than Ken Paxton in a general election. Given the relative difference between how the two would have voted over the next six years, the gain from nominating Paxton probably doesn't justify the assumed risk of dethroning the incumbent Cornyn. It might take more money to fight for the seat in the general election, but that assumes that Democrats would have left Texas alone had Cornyn eked out a win over Paxton. In the end, though, Texas is Texas,

The US military has carried out new strikes on Iran, targeting a military site in Bandar Abbas, a strategic port city. US Central Command (Centcom) said its forces also shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones "that posed a threat around the Strait of Hormuz". The site in Bandar Abbas was struck as it was about to launch a fifth drone, Centcom said. Iranian media reported that explosions were heard to the east of the city. The strikes come amid a fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran, and protracted negotiations to end the three-month war that has choked traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and shot up global energy prices.

Democrats gave another example of how clueless they are with a post from their official Democratic Party X account that is being blasted, including by at least one prominent Democrat. They posted the pictures of the 13 service members who have died so far in Operation Epic Fury, saying, "We honor the American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in Trump's war with Iran." They repeated over pictures, "Remembering the Americans who have died in Trump's war with Iran." You have to wonder what they were thinking, whoever the person was behind that post. But it's so consistent with all their other attack posts,

A nonpartisan analysis forecasts that Democrats will fail to retake the U.S. Senate Majority in the midterms, despite the establishment media narrative that Republicans could lose the upper chamber. An Inside Elections analysis recently provided an updated rating, with the tally forecasting Republicans with 52 seats, Democrats with 45 seats, and three tossups. More specifically, the analysis showed Maine and Ohio tilting in the GOP’s direction. In Maine, for example, Senate candidate Graham Platner (D) – the left’s presumptive nominee hoping to oust Republican Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) – has continued to go down in flames with resurfaced Reddit posts showcasing shocking remarks

President Donald Trump explained in a Truth Social post on Monday that Iran’s enriched uranium would either be “immediately turned over” to the United States or would be destroyed “in place” in Iran. In the post, Trump said that if the enriched uranium was not turned over to the U.S. to be “destroyed,” it would be “destroyed in place” in Iran or at another location. “The Enriched Uranium (Nuclear Dust!) will either be immediately turned over to the United States to be brought home and destroyed or, preferably, in conjunction and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, destroyed in place or, at another acceptable location,

This Memorial Day, President Donald Trump honored our troops and warned our enemies by ordering U.S. Central Command to conduct strikes on the Islamic regime of Iran. Fox News Chief National Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin said CENTCOM spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins confirmed to Fox that CENTCOM conducted the strikes. The news comes as the negotiations with Iran’s terrorist regime stall, with the regime calling for Trump’s assassination and Trump becoming frustrated with their unwillingness to surrender their nuclear program. Griffin posted Hawkins’ statement. “U.S. forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces,” he said. “Targets included

The Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday urged foreign nationals to leave Kyiv, after Russian forces conducted a large-scale attack on the Ukrainian capital. Russian forces are carrying out “consistent and systemic strikes at enterprises of the Ukrainian defence industry … including specific facilities for designing, manufacturing and programming drones and preparing them for operation,” the ministry said in a statement, accusing Ukrainian forces of launching an attack on a Russian university on Friday. “The strikes will target decision-making centres and command posts,” the ministry continued. “Due to the fact that the above-mentioned facilities are scattered across [Kyiv], we are notifying foreign citizens, including the personnel of diplomatic missions and international organisations

On Sunday, President Donald Trump said the deal that they are working on will involve "no dust, no dollars" and will not be like the failed Iran deal of Barack Obama, that it will be a good deal, or there will be no deal. He clapped back at criticism from people he said didn't know the actual details of the deal. Now, Trump has dropped a big update to the deal — that ultimately, it could turn out to be a more far-reaching peace deal. He said negotiations were proceeding "nicely" with Iran. Trump announced on Truth Social that he had held a conference call at the White House

US President Donald Trump says he has instructed negotiators "not to rush into a deal" with Iran, after earlier suggesting an agreement was close. The deal under discussion reportedly involves a 60-day ceasefire extension, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and a plan for further negotiations over Iran's nuclear programme. In a social media post, Trump said "constructive" talks were proceeding but "both sides must take their time and get it right". Trump said on Saturday an agreement had been "largely negotiated", prompting speculation an announcement could be imminent. Iranian officials gave similar signals over the weekend

U.S. intelligence shows that Iran's supreme leader is effectively holed up in an undisclosed location with little access to the outside world and is only reached by a labyrinth of couriers, according to U.S. officials with knowledge of the matter. The Iranian officials authorized to work with the Trump administration have been having a difficult time communicating inside of their own government system — and it's a central reason why the details of a potential deal with Iran and past agreements have been slow to emerge. When the U.S. sends proposed details, the difficulty in reaching the supreme leader means there can be a long delay

For years, Democrats and their allies in the media swore Joe Biden was sharp as a tack, fully capable, and absolutely fine. Then came the June 2024 debate, and that story collapsed in real time before millions of viewers. The fallout was so bad that Biden's own party forced him off the ticket. He dropped out, spent the rest of his term below the radar, and has spent his post-presidency trying to rehabilitate his image. Now, that effort has taken a new and telling turn. Biden filed a lawsuit Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia seeking to block the Justice Department from releasing roughly

For many years the Soviet Union, and then Russia, financed the environmental movement in the United States. Their purpose was to suppress American production of oil and gas, and they succeeded to a considerable degree, to their own great benefit. Today, we are in the midst of another kind of race with Communist China–the race to develop superior systems of artificial intelligence. The Chinese Communist Party knows that if it wins this race, it will contribute greatly to its dreams of world domination, while if it loses, China, with its rapidly shrinking population, could be on the way to the garbage dump of history. So the stakes are enormous.
