President Trump’s surprise endorsement catapulted Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to a landslide victory in Tuesday’s Republican Senate primary runoff election.
As has been the case throughout the 2026 midterm primary season, Trump’s stamp of approval remains critical for GOP candidates in local and statewide elections.
Here are four takeaways from the contests in the Lone Star State. After coming in second place in the preliminary March 3 primary, Paxton was propelled by the president’s endorsement — defeating incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) by a stunning 27-point margin (63.8% to 36.2%) in the runoff.

Maybe GEICO can revive Green's Caveman character so he can pay the bills. (I'm sure that those "honorariums" will be drying up starting today)

Trump's endorsement backed by solid American values. We are tired of lifetime mushrooms occupying a chair and collecting a paycheck for nothing.

Here is the my one takeaway. Voters in the south got sick of not being represented by the representative they sent to Washington to vote on their behalf. If all senators were elected in the same election year, we could really clean house. Thune, Romney, Graham, Tillis... But for now we will have to be happy to get rid of Cassidy and Cornyn.

Let this be a lesson for the rest of them. This is what happens when voters vote.

This goes beyond Texas. I firmly believe dual weapons of corruption of public funds and ballot fraud has allowed the Democrats to create a false balance in legislatures at all levels - from the Senate to local boards. Demolish those two and the wheels will start coming off the Democrat wagon.

Senate seats are indicative of party voter's preference. Even the voting rights act doesn't affect statewide elections. What is more interesting is the canary in the mine votes at the House level. Texas redistricted before the SCOTUS ruled that quota districts are unconstitutional. Also the SCOTUS ruled that Clinton, Obambi, Diaper Joe Inferior Court Black Robed Insurrectionist could no longer dictate House districts. Some solid quotas didn't fare too well when facing their party's voters in districts no longer drawn to insure a quota. In other words, policies now matter more than skin color. Even for DeMS-13s. And we haven't seen the full results of the SCOTUS ruling as some states have decided that unconstitutional quota districts are OK for at least another two years. The direction of US politics may undergo a seismic change now that the Southern states may draw districts the same as all the other states in the Union. And the could spell disaster on a national level for DeMS-13 even with fraud and illegal.

I believe Paxton would have defeated Cornyn even if POTUS had stayed neutral in this race. Texas core republicans were tired of Cornyn's posturing - he wears a cowboy hat once every six years when he's running for reelection - and it looks funny on him, anyway. The kicker is that Paxton pledged to drop out of the race and let Cornyn have it if Cornyn would help get the SAVE act passed. Cornyn, who has apparently been assimilated by the DC borg, did nothing. Cornyn was a conservative when he was first elected to the Senate. At some point, though, his allegiance to the institution of the Senate became more important to him than representing the people of Texas, and that is sad. Yes, Paxton comes with some baggage, but he's a fighter. We've had enough of the 'go along to get along' republicans.

Cornyn only won 2 counties. That's a pretty thorough thrashing.

The disgruntled, embittered losers will be in Congress until Jan 2027. They will do a lot of damage between now and then.

The key takeaway is that Texans put a "crazy lame wolfman" and a "professional imposter" into the Texas unemployment line. I for one, didn't need a Trump endorsement to cast my vote against Cornyn, since he lost me as a supporter in his very first term in the U,S, Senate after he voted against the Second Amendment and then cast his vote against U.S. border security. Cornyn is a creature of "Austin," which is not really Texas anymore.
That said, I can't wait to hear the new "tune" the RINOs sing, at the direction of Sen. John "Li'l Mitch" Thune. The "Sword of Damn-ocles" resides above the "crowned cranium" of our new Senate Majority Leader, that only the slightest leftward lurch will cause it to hurtle down and penetrate his thick skull with thunderous clap for any primary challengers his actions may attract. Trump has all the cards now, and the Senate will do his bidding. "Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead."

The author mentions the defeat of the anti-Semite Democrat in TX-35, Ms. Galindo. Give her credit, she at least promoted that the re-education camp or whatever it was going to be, was to be located in her district.
Anyway, there's no worry that the seat will be Democrat. We in TX-35 nominated Carlos de la Cruz, who had the complete and total endorsement of President Trump and the voters of TX-35 to become our next Congresscritter. He's the brother of Monica de la Cruz (TX-15), who served most of us in the district for the past four years. Which, by the way, has been the only time in the past 25+ years that I have been served by a Republican Congresscritter.

I applaud Sen Cornyn for his immediate endorsement of Ken Paxton. This was a tough race for me to choose. I think I preferred Paxton but was concerned that he might be a drag on the Republican ticket, especially if the Democrats and media are able to portray Talerico as a "moderate," much like they did with Abigal Spanburger in Virginia last fall. I actually held my nose and voted for Cornyn yesterday (I voted for Wesley Hunt in March; he probably would have been the best candidate in the fall).
I believe Paxton will win in November; it will be a closer race (think Beto vs Cruz), and I hope it will not affect any of the closer house or state races. But then again, I like all my politicians to have to work hard to get elected and re-elected and a tad worried about if they'll win. Like old Joe Kennedy said about JFK in 1960, he was paying for a win, not a landslide.

finally , after many many years, it is this shameless grifter's time... to pony up...pay the piper.
[fyi: pony up is the rather unpleasant task of paying a debt owed. The Oxford English Dictionary says:
centuries ago, this used to begin the psalms at Matins on the 25th day of the month...
the day when debts were due to be settled.] the senator's account is long overdue.

Guys in districts that went to Trump by 40 points are ill-advised to go around morally preening like they're Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney. That is dumb.

It would have been great for Rush Limbaugh to have lived to see and comment on all that President Trump has accomplished. He would encourage the victories and provide context and advice for any setbacks, judicial or otherwise.
